will they be offering the 5870 in x-fire ?
I still wonder though how much the 128 Bit buss will bottleneck???
-
We can only hope they are true. I can see this being released on a Monday and I'm still hoping for a name change.
-
Is the dell US website updated before the UK one? -
-
-
-
Edit: unless you are an rts gamer. Then it could show real dividends but 85% is entirely unrealistic for gaming. -
Actually Qx9300 is par with 820QM.
-
I wonder what the price increase will be for a fully spec'd refreshed m17x.
There's going to be a monitor update. How could they improve the monitor if its 1920X1200 already? -
-
-
no 1200p would be 1900 by 1200. 1080p is 1900 by 1080. The television adverts are really to blame for this new "1080p" phenom. Personally, 1080p is better because it is still high def in every sense of the word and you will be pushing less pixels; maximizing a few more FPS on games that you would begin to struggle with. 5870 CF would potentially be a good system for the next few years as consoles are a ways off and new games are all pretty much using console first, PC second ideology (sad but true). So I don't really see too many games that would give 1900 by 1080p too much trouble with high settings with 5870 CF.
-
Also, will M17X graphics out class the PS3 or Xbox after this refresh? -
-
So there's going to be a, core i7 processor, a 1080p LED monitor, 5870 CF. Anything else to look forward to? -
Yes 120Hz 1080p panels for laptops.
3D gaming rules and will be the next big thing.
Not sure when they be available though. -
-
Sorry bud but 3D gaming is not a gimmick.
I spent a few hours with the nVidia guys at CES and the new 1080p 120Hz desktop screens (Alienware and Acer) running with active shutter glasses is nothing short of spectacular. No loss of detail as you get a full 1080p 60Hz per eye. Loss of brightness is minimal and if anything improves contrast ratios. Combined with nVidias new 3D Vision Surround and you have an incredibly immersive 3D experience.
Now all we need are these 1080p 3D panels to be shrunk to laptop sizes as the current 1366 screens are a bit crappy. Once they are every gaming laptop will have one, mark my words. -
3D gaming isn't a gimmick....it's a class action lawsuit waiting to happen.
Nvidia made me blind and they must pay! -
Not to mention it's basically a standard, more support/compatibility. Same reason why I got the iPhone and not the Droid, more support (apps/docks/peripherals/third party..anything). -
-
You'll be eating those words when desktop and mobile fermi hit. -
I hope the 5870's going to be awsome, as this will be the first time ill be using an AMD video card! I've always gone with nvidia before.
-
-
Desktop fermi should be paper launched around mid march or april with quantities before June. Mobile fermi will probably come shortly after. ATi's fame with the 5800 series will come to an abrupt end in a few short months, you can quote me on that. -
-
But I'd love to see it coming as there's no ATI for me any time soon... Not unless they come up with decent linux drivers. -
-
But yes, the refresh is gonna be soon. It all depends however, how powerful fermi will be to begin with. And as I understand, fermi is not just a new card, it's a new direction of architectures, merging the CPUs and GPUs at some point into a single mosaic of processing power. -
AMD has Fusion APU in 2011. Intel has their IGP and maybe in a couple of years Larrabee. Nvidia has what...Tegra?
Unless the FTC comes through and Nvidia can start making their own x86 CPU Fermi isn't merging with anything. The supercomputing Fermi may have all those neat GPGPU features that will run along side a CPU but the desktop gaming Fermi will likely have most of those features turned off.
As for ATI's next-gen GPU name as soon as they start calling it something else I'll gladly give up having to spell check Hecatoncheires. -
Come on M17x refresh geez! Lol, I'm spending all my M17x money on crap stuff I don't need....
-
It will be here soon..patience...ok who am I kidding, I can't wait! -

also i have 260 sli thats no longer available either.
yes i have been monitoring the a03 threads, seems like some still have issues with nvidia gpu downclocking? would i have a case to ask for ati?
18th would be great fingers crossed -
They might just replace your system as I'm sure they still have parts for those systems that are still under warranty. I'm not so sure they would replace it with a refreshed model

I hope the refresh doesn't increase the base price by too much.
$2099 or even $1999 base price would be annoying >< -
No but expect a $1200 price tag on the extreme cpu.
-
Mmm yeah...
What's the performance difference between the i7 820QM and 920XM? Worth that much extra money? -
-
-
Hurry up Dell! I can't wait any longer! -
When I first saw your post, I thought it said $1,000 more and I was almost spewing -
I hope they don't wait until next next Monday to release the refresh because of that US holiday Mandrake mentioned. -
I've had so much different information from the techicians on Dell chat about when the refresh will come out that I have concluded that none of them actually know lol
