You'll be waiting a while for any true 3xx parts....

 

I AM about to murder DELL, they will not release r2 in australia until they cleared the stock for the duo core processors.
Oh and get this genuis move. they already changed the page for m17x to the updated r2 version. So anyone going there to buy a m17x can see right away, oh hey look at that. new update.
well thats what the sales rep told me. So for australia its indifinite hold until all duo core is cleared.

someone tell me its possible to order from the US. i am fed up with australian dell

 

I think you can order from US one way or another. Thing is you may have to pay for import tax which will make it a deal breaker I believe.

 

Wait. Thats toolish. Why would they Update the site if they dont plan to release the M17x R2 anytime soon? Kinda werid...

Spoke to Dell about it; Apparently they wont be released till Febuary unknown date.

 

exactly that is the dumbest move in history of marketing.
HEY We wont release new product till old product are sold. But we will tell the people about the new products anyway.

 

Indeed. Anyway I'm "Hoping" they will be released around mid Feb - Late Feb. But who knows.

 

Well with that smart move Im sure a lot of people in AUS who were gonna buy an Alienware and didnt know about R2 before it is listed on Dell AUS will camp. And it will slow down Dell AUS sales on R1

 

with out a doubt, go check out australian alienware page lol. you will laugh till you cry on how bad this situation have gone.. lol

like the Asus anytime soon ?

Hopefully it won't be like Asus since they use proprietary cards like Dell used to do. Everything is rumor and speculation at this point.

 

Indeed it does sadly. But my Rep said in Feb they should be released. So im hoping his rep was wrong. It might be something like "We'll release when the Core2Duo is gone/OR in Feb" Im hoping its something like that.

 

Get the Sager. Prices should be more competitive for them anyways.

Yep, generally they invert the connectors. With mobile cards, the OEM producers have a lot more control over how cards are made.

 

Maybe Asus will stop doing that. It's a big negative for the enthusiasts.

 

We can only hope, still Im pretty sure they see it as better business as it forces people to upgrade machine that much quicker, rather than just the GPU.

 

well if the 5870s are coming in feb, i might have to sell mine and get an R2. i'm waiting on a big performance increase over the 260ms. hopefully 5870s will be 50%+ in increase performance with the i7820.

Why no bluray?

 

Must be a shortage. The last I saw a BD drive available for ANY Dell system it had a 15 day lead time.

They pulled it and it's been gone ever since....

 

It would fit, Kobalt recently told me they were having a hard time getting hold of Blu-ray drives easily right now, so I'd guess there's a shortage right now, not just at Dell, which means companies are trying to buy in big lots of new stock making the situation even worse.

 

I think a major factory must have gone down in flames.

Yes that is cheap. For Australians getting it shipped from USA costs 3000 + and getting it in Australia costs 2700 with goodish specs. So its a good deal.

yes for us aussies it is cheap, i specced the same machine on US site and its actually the same in $AU after conversion

Normally we get shafted by a good 10-20%(thats AFTER adding import tax, gst on it too...that is why alot of us import laptops....but for the r2, its very very decent price...there is no way id import it!

 

Lol. I already have a good rep. That will 'hopefully' give me a 8% discount on it.
