lol the aus site has now got refresh and looks like uk one is loosing it all......LED option has gone, crossfire option too and still only raid 1 HDD options lol what are they on

 

Each region has their own allocation of parts. Seems the UK probably ran out. I'm sure they will replenish it soon as parts become available. Plus they're probably getting ready for the 5870 update.

Ah man lol its nuts been waiting since nov to buy but put off for refresh now the 5870's coming........sigh lol

 

The 5870 refresh for the M15x would give about 20% greater performance vs GTX 260M. For the M17x-R2, it won't be much of a boost compared to the 4870s since it uses the same architecture with a boost in clock speeds + DX11 thrown in. The 5870 refresh should be available for order by March for those that are waiting. CEBit is around the corner and that's when nVidia will also be announcing new products.

 

ye think il just order the 4870 and see if its worth upgrading at a later date or could be hanging around for ever.......crossfire 4870 more than enough for games atm i think anyways

joker what's the chance that next nvidia or ati series is compatible with the architecture in the m17x r-2, in your expert opinion ofcourse

 

There's always at least 1 generation worth of upgrades. MXM 3.0b is pretty new so I'd say mobile fermi and the next ATi release will work fine. That's exactly what I'll be doing for my next upgrade. I'll sell the 4870s on eBay and get SLi mobile fermi and/or the next ATi card (with hopefully a 256 bit bus).

 

Well a rep told me a month or so ago the new dx11, i.e 5870 cards will fit in current mx17x ( at the time was R1 ) if this helps

ugh it seems the r2 for australia still isnt ready yet. i called up the sales rep and they said it was only "pre order" so if u customise and buy now, they won't actually start building one ofr you until the offical release date =(

the sales rep Infunkable recommended just called me up! its so werid actually, because i just finished ordering off him and he gave me a 10% discount too! w00ts. I asked him about the shipping and build and he tells me its avaiable to be build right away.

so i am like watever, place my order in.... i also asked for his direct contact number and guess what? he is based in australia? cause its a (02) number so thats sydney, where as the sales rep i talk to over the phone from dell website is from overseas.

so i dunno. anyways my system is placed, TY to infunkable, the sales rep from dell only gives me 100 bucks off, this guy gave me 10% thats over 400! once again, ty and i hope my system gets here soon. cheers

nah , i havent ordered mine..stillw aiting for my refund from my m17xr1...
still have it sittning here, no email directions on how to return it...even though it was 'authorised' 2.5 weeks ago

i rang today, and they said, the courier company should contact me in 3-5 days to arrange a pickup.....and i said to them, 3 times, and made sure to tell his supervisor, if nothing happens by friday (5days) i will be doing a chargeback on my c/c...or going to try too

if you had the $$$ is it worth getting the 920xm over the 720qm?

 

i would say yes if you can afford it, as the 920 allows you to overclock and 720 and 820 does not.
however i still reckon 820 is the best vaule for money

 

If you want maximum performance + OC ability, 920xm is the way to go.

 

Didn't know the 720 and 820 didn't OC. Good to know because I definitely wouldn't bother with turbo if it's only on 1-2 cores and the games use all 4. OCing would be the way to go.

Even for games only using 1-2 cores, OCing vs. turbo would mean I'd have to restart everytime to change BIOS settings.

(Not that I'm buying the -R2.)

 

Im ready to order mine now but rep says the LED screen option isn't available (uk), it was last week and now its off the website and rep doesnt know if he can get it......btw he is saying the bru ray isn't delaying delivery now, they must have some more in now still not an option on the site now tho.
