Well I finally got mine and WoW looks amazing. Just one problem, laaaag. My lat will be over 300ms on my M17x, but if I log in while on the MacBook Pro it is under 100ms at all times, normally below 80ms. Both laptops sitting side by side off the same base station on What I thought was 7MB cable internet, but according to speedtest.net it is 30mb(see below). I've allowed the ports in the windows firewall already for WoW. Am I missing something or is anyone else noticing this?

Yes over wireless connection I was about the same.. I hated it.. I plugged in the ethernet cable, and all was resolved.. I have not had good experiences playing wow over wireless ethernet.. Very high latency..
-
Oh and I finally got my rusted proto drake last night! Woooot! Now for the 25-man version... ugh... getting there, slowly. -
Not sure why your 2 computers would be different, unless it's a mod that is causing extra latency you have on the Win machine. Try creating a new char in a newbie zone where no one is around and see what your latency is.
My Wife and I play beside each on the same server and our latency reported can be wildly different. I'm not sure I trust the latency reporter. Also, what's going on in the world and where you are can make a huge difference. When Wintergrasp used to start, all of Northrend would get laggy on my server. -
The Uld 25 one is going to be brutal to get.We need Yogg, Mim and Freya (gogo visible beams!!).

I am a bit out of the WoW öhm ... part of my life xD
But I remember that sb in my guild (BC times) had a high ping problem because of an addon.
You said on your mac you can play with 80 ?with the same addons?, than you can save the time, but if there is a difference in the used addons, try to shut all down and than take a second look at the ping.
btw nice internetconnection
Greetings

Same addons, exactly. I copied them over from the Mac. Push comes to shove if it gets too bad while raiding I will write em all down and spend an hour or two hunting for them to do a clean install of them all after I delete the old ones. Just really don't want to take it that far because then a day gets wasted setting them up.
And thanks, like I said I'm not sure how I ended up with that when it should be much lower... But hey, I'll take it and hope they don't figure it out anytime soon. -
Easy test would be for you to disable all addons and then try the same location.. If latency is drastically lower and stays lower, then that tells you it is an addon.. Surprisingly, I have had issues with atlas loot recently causing latency spikes and lag...
-
OT I am all set up for the BlizzCon stream today.. Wish I would be there in person.. It would be so cool to be there.. Oh well, I will settle for the Internet stream..
-
Did you get the Marine Pet too?
-
It will take 6-8 weeks to receive the redemption code via email according to their site.. So I hope.. lol
-
Yeah a whole 2 months, I wish i already had that lil guy.
-
lol yep. I am watching the stream now.. thank god it wasnt blocked by the firewall.
-
ZOMG they just showed the trailer to the new expansion for WOW.. Looks great!!!

Need link
I have no idea of it so I have no name to search for

The trailer is awesome. So can't wait to play a Worgen finally. I tamed Garwal as a worgen pet for my hunter before they removed him in a day.

two m17x's on that desk right now, one silver one black

Every setting maxed(no aa or af) with my P8700 OCD to 2.8ghz and my 280s(sli enabled) stock with 186 drivers nets me around 20-30fps in av normaly, 40-60 in low pop open places like org and random outside areas. 8-18fps in dal. All on 1600ish res (can't remember the exact res number)
Wireless gets me about 250-300ms though my server pop is 'medium'. 5mb connection speed at my home. Haven't tested Ethernet ms yet -
Else where I got 160+ FPS easily... -
-
Yeah I get an average of 120FPS on WoW on stock 260 sli clocks with my [email protected]...
-
-
Seems SLI gives a nice performance boost then. I have a single 260m and a Q9000 @ 2,4 and I'm getting ~30 fps in dalaran on a medium pop server and 45-60 in empty northrend areas...
-
Not sure what OS or drivers ur running but just either turn shadows to half or off (it is not noticeable at all, quality wise, just your characters and objects don't have shadows) and crack everything else up and you should be good to go.
Don't know what is it with Blizzard and their new shadow design engine but it cripes performance ten fold... -
I am running Win 7 Ultimate RTM -
Damn, I guess I'm gonna buy a second 260 from dell quite soon
-
Well it depends if you have vsync on .. I have that enabled due the the fact i cant stand tearing.. So 60 fps is the max i will get... Dal does drop if it is packed to mid 30's.. If it is really late or early in the morning i can get 59 fps since there arent that many ppl there. Friday night when there are 100+ yea its in the mid 30s.. I dont mind.. That doesnt affect me moving around dal so i am ok with that..
I am running win 7 ultimate rtm with the .82 drivers.. -

I'm coming in late here, but we're talking about World of Warcraft people.
This game is as graphically intensive as San Andreas on the PC. Considering an M17x with the top specs just for WoW is beyond foolish, nearly anything out there will do.
I've played it with my current Acer laptop without any issues. -
-
I play at Ultra settings AA x1 and 1366x768 resolution though. That's with a 9800M nVidia card 512MB. Not bad for me, since I do 25man raids the FPS is good. Dalaran seems to be the only really laggy place. But I believe that it's server lag also. From what I've read server lag will cause lower frames, can anyone confirm?
