Is this enough to feed your M18x rumors guys? ;) Actual screenshot with the link to go with it:

No specs as of yet or other info as it leads to a different computers documentation but I don't see something like that as a mistake.

When you click on the M18x link on their documentation page it takes you to the M17x (R1) documentation. I hope someone on their web team is not playing a cruel joke.

meh.. 18 inch is just TOO BIG as a desktop replacement.

That and the speculated cost of like $3000?+ No thanks... To get a decent M17x I had to DOUBLE the starting cost :(

To big for a DTR? I don't get it... :D

Considering the cost for the cards alone is about 2000$ I'd say 6970m is a better option... two of them cost about half of what you pay for the 485m SLI. With the 1000$ you safe you can get an 2920xm for example :D lol

knowing that a gtx485m or a 6970m both can run the newest games on max settings, is there really a point in getting sli/xfire except for special 'stuff' like physx ? (so only worth for nvidia cards maybe?).

And eventhough i'm a fan of big 17" gaming monsters, I always keep asking myself if they are worth their money. If you want a portable gaming system a 15" with a normal gpu (like a gtx460m) is more practical, even if you do lan parties and stuff. And to push your graphics to the max a nice 1000€ desktop system can do the job nicely aswell.
But hey, maybe I won't be able to resist the m18x despite of the things I just said and might wanna spend 2500€ on 1 superpowerfull laptop instead on one 1k desktop and a 1.5k 15" gaming notebook. Eventhough I will probably use it as a desktop replacement system anyway, I still think that the thickness/weight of the m18x will be the most importent things for me to make a decision.

    +1 xcellent find dood!~ :D

keep in mind the M17x R3 is similar in size to the M15x, and the M18x would perhaps be similar in size to the M17x R2. also, due to an extremely competitive market (which companies plan accordingly for during development to ensure maximum roi), it would be hard to imagine anything higher than a $1999 starting price - right around the starting point of the M17x R2...

the sw (dell-lab.posterous) engineer has confirmed he's seen internal documentation of either 460M sli (perhaps 560M by launch) or 6970M crossfirex...

    analogy from the automotive world:

    M17x R3 = CAMARO
    M18x = CORVETTE

def. agree though, as really the M17x R3 is the most well balanced performance machine available on the market - but there's always the die hard benchers and overclockers among us that demand their extreme cpu's and dual gpu's! :p

Well, this changes things a bit. I was almost ready to order a 3d m17x for gaming on my 3dtv but I was concerned about the gpu being the single gtx 460m. If the new m18x is going to come out, I would imagine it would have a better gpu than the m17x.

So I guess I will wait a bit. Dunno if I will be able to hold off of the m17xr3 for more than a couple of months though if there isn't an announcement soon though :p

This whole M18x business has thrown a rock in my little Zen pool and disturbed all the koi. So, let's be hypothetical right now. A 460m SLI configuration wouldn't be all that much different than a single 485m, would it? I've been browsing around on NotebookCheck and YouTube checking out some of the performance videos and I haven't found the difference to be any more than 5 FPS which isn't that much of a difference unless you're playing Crysis or Metro 2033 where 20-25 FPS is pretty noticeable. So there's really nothing I need to worry about... right?

6970 is in the heat/power range of 485M moreso than the 460M.
485M SLI would be a good target for this machine, since Clevo has already shown it in action.
Have to see really, but 460M sli seems a bit "mild" when compared to 6970CF.

April fools (getting us all "eager" for a few weeks and then saying "psych") would be a harsh lesson for us :) Anyway, I doubt that any new flagship gaming pc from AW is going to disappoint. Let's just hope it's on its way.

I'm sorry but a GTX485M cant run everything at 1080p at full settings with 4xAA/8xAF and drop no frames, so crossfire is not just something silly extra.

Plus you have to think how long its going to last.

AA shouldn't matter when gaming at FHD. I'm giving Alienware 1 month to show the M18x. If it isn't announced then I'll just go with my currently-being-built M17x. I've been poking around and the 460m SLI configuration doesn't seem that great when compared to a single 485m. One question, though: Would the 485m suffer from micro-stuttering? Seeing as how it isn't a dual-GPU card it shouldn't, right? Also, I thought E3 was more for the consoles. So I doubt Alienware would have much of a booth there.

well if the thread about the re release of the m17xr3 was right and according to the site under tech specs, the 17 r3 IS getting a 485m with no possibility of SLi due to lack of gpu space and MXM port, now that being said if the 17 does in fact get that, and it looks like it is, then the 18 should have at the very least have a single 485m on a base model and an upgrade to the SLi 485m just like the 17 r2 had a CF 5870 option. on a different note, SIZE: yes 18 might be little big for some, including me, although i think it would be 100% awesome to open it up at a LAN or even a buddies place for a serious gaming session and him in awe that his MONSTER antec 900 case is putting out about as much gaming power as my small in comparison 18 inch rig that cost the same and has a monitor, keyboard, etc built in and it can can be used in my lap, that would be awesome BUT if you are going to move this laptop more then once a week, i would for sure not get an 18" laptop, i personally would like it IF and only if, it came with a m11xr2 in the same box with software to sync the two together with specific files. now with all that said, i can not see spending over $2000 for a base model alienware with no SLI/CF, upgraded ram/HDD/CPU/accessories/OS/ etc etc etc. its just not fees-able, although a 17 r3 comes to about 2800-3000, but that is completely upgraded other then RAM because i can do that later for cheaper, and it has mouse, a game, and a hefty 3 year advanced warranty worth $500 or more. just my opinion think/but what you want im just saying what i think. but i do think its dam cool

for me to get a possible M18x, I want:

    1. SLI GTX 485M
    2. RGB LED (or better)
    3. Extreme sandy bridge
    4. Same build quiality as R1/R2

If GTX 485M is not an option, then I am not going to get the M18x.

rather than speculation, let's go with more from the sw (dell-lab.posterous) engineer, who has just released some new info/specs today:

as for eta on this "avenger":

+1 yeah, yeah, yeah... lol :p

launch is the most speculative aspect atm - but with the place holder already up at dell's support site, along with all the fresh new details rolling in, maybe sooner than summer?

It could be a good marketing initiative for Dellienware to open a 'marriage list'... Ups! sorry: I mean a 'boarding list' for people ready to make their order on the forthcoming landing M18x... ;)
According to the quoted 'probably' specifications, many will be ready to start ordering and even advance a first payment for a 'boarding ticket'... (me among them).

I hope the chassis/case won't look like an enlarged m11x. I've been drooling over the m17x r2's case/chassis since the moment I first saw it and am hoping it'll be an 18" version of the m17x r2's case/chassis.
