^^i would love 2 read that review, cause everyone said how amazing the laptop is, but i really love 2 hear from an owner -
Ok guys, i recieved mine today, so ill give you a new onwers view. I didnt bother doing an unboxing video, as there are plenty out there already.
So far, i love this machine. It was a bit bigger than i expected , but more of a pleasant surprise (im used to a 14" screen) There were no scratches, cracks, or scratches on my comp, build quality looks pretty good. I have the 8700's in mine (but paid for the 8800GTX's), and will get those put in when the problem is fixed. So far iv only played FEAR as its the only game i have at the moment, and i run that maxed out with no problems. Max temp my CPU got to was 71oC, and as soon as i stopped playing it tok about 30secs for it to get back down to idle temp of 49oC. The fans aren't that loud, but they are present when gaming for a while. They just drone into the backgound after a while. All my touch buttons work . There is a little keyboard flex in the bottom right by the arrows, but seriously, if anyone says it's ridculously bad needs to see a shrink. Its hardly noticable, i only went looking cos someone was *****ing before.
I do have one gripe. I have to get used to typing on a bigger keyboard (i keep mistyping and not hitting the keys hard enough - thankgod for spellcheck). My biggest hate of this is that there is something that gets warm underneath the bottom right of the chassis. I like to rest my wrist there when i type, and my wrist gets warm pretty quick. But thats about it.
Will let you all know how i go when i get the 8800's in about the temp issues. -
71° gaming 49 idle... I think going 8800 was a mistake for me I'm sure most of the stuff works good on 8700.

Still waiting on mine... FedEx website says its on the vehicle for delivery... I used to work for "a competitor" so I kind of know the system. The package is comeing from Moline which is about an hour from me, so my driver probably won't be hitting my place until the end of the day. Its always hit and miss with the places that are far from the hub... either they are the first deliveries of the day... or the last... and I obviously wasn't the first, so now I take the risk of them running out of time and not delivering until tomorrow because technically they are still alloted another day... which makes me a non-priority.
So... who knows, lol... I'll keep you updated. -
Hello Maverick ..... enjoy yours last hours before your"baby" arrives ;-)
They are the beast but also the best , as for making love ^^
I wish you an happy delivery

ok guys, I'm still working on the review... I'l try to get everything posted very soon.
So far, I have only had some of the most comon but minor problems. I.E. monitor not kickig back on after hibernation... I have not DL'd SP1 yet though. I have noticed the flex in the keyboard on the botom right hand of the pad, but seriously probably only noticed it because people were complaining about it. I honestly have no problem with it... I think the keyboard is awesome and it never flexes during normal use.
More coming soon.. still downloading SWG and stil trying to get my internet connection at work.
Most of my issues are with Vista rather than the PC... and even they are minor. One main complaint about Vista is all the damn safety/security pop-ups that I cannot sem to shut off for the life of me...
more to come soon. -
Congratulations Mavericke !!
I am happy for you and will wait to read carefully your reviews ( that will help me to wait for my own M15X ) .
Be sure this review will be apreciated "all over the world " and sure in France ^^ -

PS forgot to say, UAC is some user account bull*** that makes you confirm everytime you click. -
Dude Mav, follow the steps in the guide that ioaniro posted and you'll see a huge improvement thats what I did now m15x is rockin!
PS UAC stands for "User Account Control" -

I followed this guide to tune up Vista machines:

Makes them run much faster. -
I also like the quiet mode - some software expects UAC mode to be on, like QuickBooks 2008 and some functionality breaks if you turn it off completely. Quite mode is the equivalent of clicking yes automatically.

Ok guys... sorry about the wait... I have been working my ass off and been really busy. I have had my m15x for exactly one month as of today. So far...
(and please note that this is just a very summarized update, just basic and to the point)
Screen and picture are flawless.
I have no problem getting the HDMI output to work with both sound and video, just a simple click in the audio options. And the picture looks great on my 62inch DLP... very minimal lag or decrease in quality.
The speakers are good... but it depends on what your looking for. If your a huge audio guy like me, then your not going to like the speakers much... they are clean, but the bass is almost non-existant and low volume sucks.
I have not had any over heating issues or cracking of the case.
All of my lighting Alien FX stuff works flawlessly and shines bright.
Very low battery time. Bow life timer is way off as well... it will tell me I have 15 minutes to save data, but then it shuts off a minute later.
I play SWG online. I have not noticed a huge difference from my desktop and my laptop. I really expected the laptop to blow my desktop away, but they run about the same. I think this is due to SWG's outdated servers and the fact that I didn't really play with my options a whole lot on the the m15x. FYI-my desktop is a Dell XPS 2.8ghz core2duo 256Nvidia8600 3gRam on Windows XP.
Still battling the Vista crap... its not bad once you get rid of the annoying pop-ups, but it is still pretty laggy. I really wanted Vista to have the "new hotness" but I really wish I would have stuck with XP. Connecting to wireless connections is a kind of a pain in the ass with Vista if there is any security enabled.
I am having an issue trying to record from a Boss BR-1600CD from my "line-in" port. It's like my laptop recieves the signal and plays it through... but to record it into Adobe Auditon 1.0, its like it plays it and records it through the mic. If I shut the mic off, I lose the audio... I have a feeling its just a setting issue, but I'm having a hard time figuring it out. Might be a Vista issue.
Overall performance of the laptop is good. I expected more, but I am by no means let down. I think my biggest issue is Vista. Ok, my ONLY issue is Vista, lol! Oh yeah... this notebook is kind of bulky, so if you buy a bag for it, I would suggest buying a 17" bag. I had to return my 15" and swap it out.
I was very scared to make this purchase. I am not exactly rich. 3000$ was ALOT of money to drop on a computer... I was scared to death that I was going to have a million problems. I have had none. Getting the laptop built and shipped was kind of a hassle and the date was pushed back a little bit, but I'm impatient anyways so that was partially my fault. All in all, this is a decent laptop. Don't be afraid to buy one. -
