Haha, at least you didn't have to wait a month and a half after the ETA to get yours shipped. I suppose it's safe to say that it was worth the wait though!

Keep us updated OP on how your m15x turns out :)

As Ennea said, I am one of the happy owners of the m15x. I haven't found any laptop which has the same performance combined with the ability to go for a very long battery life when needed. :)

I'm quite happy, but I'm sure I've expressed that to the point where almost everybody who knows me knows I love my m15x.

Yea about the M15x, i was an unhappy user...

Now i am sure the computer could work great, but sadly mine was nothing but problems. Well sum it up with this

4 Technical support calls- nothing was ever fixed ( mentioned the mobo might be the prob)
2X Sent back to AW, nothing they did made it better ( still recommended it might be the mobo, never swapped it)

Once i got i back after they FINALLY swapped out the mobo on the third try, all i got was BSOD... so i said to hell with it and got a diff AW, now i am happy.

Just have to be careful i guess, you never know.

I hope you have fun with you M15x from what i saw from it on a cosmetic level it was AWESOME!!

I love the endless possibilities with this machine and unlimited potential. I personally feel that those who all 'hate' this particular brand or m15x does not know how to fix little things themselves. Don't tell me that if you are buying something costly then you dont expect it to break.

I don't understand why they would wanna "hate" AW. I mean they have done nothing but make awesome computers. I mean they have there problems like all companies do, and being part of the Dell Corporation might not make them look any better, since dell has a known for making "less than perfect computers". Use a AW for 1 day and i can honestly say you will change your mind.

so i opened the box and stuff when i got home(lunch ftw), the laptop looks great, the hinge didn't creak!!! I didn't turn it on(not enough time), and heres the prob:

I open the box with the accessories, and lo and behold the manual is for an alienware desktop   , but still contains a touchpad thing and cds and whatnot

    so im callin aw now

Weird. I got my smart bay battery for $78 = ~£50. That's around $57 (£37) cheaper than what it was on their website when I had purchased it. I guess UK pricing is different from US pricing.

yup, UK (and Europe, for that matter) is usually a price increase of about 30%. not that there's a reason for that. it really can be a love/hate relationship with AW :D

Wow...way to flame, man. I for one have no problems at all. My temps stay cool, no cracking or anything. I can get 3.5 hours of battery life with binary graphics and I have a sleek design with a lighted keyboard to boot :D. I am planning to buy a second battery soon to get even more battery life. This machine is perfect for me, as I am going to college. :)

You should be able to see if you have stealth mode enabled by going to command center, and then AlienFusion.

reinstall command center and the OSD utility. make sure you press Fn+F7 firmly, you should get a little popup asking you to confirm the change.

I second this suggestion. Just uninstall both the command center and the OSD utility, restart, then reinstall the OSD utility and the command center in that order. You can find both of these in your MyHive or in the mini-MyHive listed here:

This sounds like a problem with ACPI and should not be related to OSD and CC

    a. Shut down the machine completely
    b. Remove all power source, battery and AC power
    c. Keep the power button pressed for 15-25 seconds while there is no power source to squeez out any power left
    d. Put the AC power back in, do not plug in the battery yet and turn the system on
    e. forget about this line, copy paste bug. :) (e. Hopefully you have the lights back, now you can put the battery back.)

I myself stuck in that situation couple of times, this should get you out of it
