-
how to reinstall cc?
just go to control panel uninstall cc > reboot > and intall the new driver? -
pretty much but what i do is uninstall the previous version run cc cleaner and then reboot and install the new CC
-
this doesnt work for my alienware M15X with A05 bios :'(
-
i would update to the A06 bios for it to work
-
I might be missing something here, but is it really important at all to install the command center all together? isn't it "just" the control of all the flashy lights and preset and such alienware/dell is trying to pimp?
Or does it actually do something to the core system?
thanks -
Guys.. I'm having issue here. I just installed this new CC, then after I restart it something pop up to my screen.
"FastAccess Tray Alert detected an older version running. Please reboot now to complete the installation of the new version."
I restarted my lappy like 4 times already, and nothing happened.
-
Lol. Nvm it's working smooth now... I just uninstalled it and delete the folder, then install it again.

Hey guys I have 1 prob wit my alienware m17x
I installed A06 (from A05),it worked perfectly, then I recovered the window 'cos of some viruses
After the recover cc gone back to A05
When I press anything in the quick touch controls,it does not display on the screen
Even when I press (fn)+(sth),only some work
I've installed A06 again and the prob still the same
It's also weird that the facial logon at first is the A05 interface, after a few secs,it becomes the new interface :|
Any idea guys ? -
Did you perform a clean install of the OS and all apps? Viruses are nasty buggers and just because your av app says all is clean, chances are it is not.
Be sure you have OSD installed. If OSD is installed, try:
1. Remove AC Power
2. Remove battery
3. Depress and hold the power button for a 20 count
4. Re-attach battery and AC
5. Power up -
I am having the same problem with alienware face recognition not working and saying "licence key invalid" in the dialog box on my M17x running win7 64 bit -

Looks like the M17xR1 is now cleared for this .54 version of Command Center. According to the M17xR1 support page, this CC update will require an updated Touchpad driver. See post#1 of this thread for links to both - post#1 has been updated.

Did anybody notice a flickering alienhead? I had no problems with the new CC except for this. It keeps flickering , similar to the power button eyes (hard drive indicator) , just that continously. I don't think it's a new feature , (like the alienhead showing hard drive activity) , because it flickers independently , and not in the same time as the HDD indicator. Going back to stock CC.
Now with the stock CC , the alienhead flickering is gone , so this definitely comes from the A07 board firmware. -
Reinstall CC again - sounds like the firmware update was not 100%.
-
EDIT : Figured the problem wasn't the new CC. It seems the alienhead will pulse between its set color and the color of the speakers.
On "Go Dark mode" with "Keep status zones" checked , the alienhead will go on and off continously , really fast.
I didn't notice this problem until now , and i don't think it existed until i installed the new CC...
I don't mind that much , but this isn't normal... So if anyone has solutions (except contacting dell for warranty) , i will apreciate the help -
Hey guys, I was just wondering if there is any way to make the Command Center play a little nicer with UAC without totally disabling UAC. I don't want it disabled for obvious security reasons, however, I don't want to have to click yes to multiple different windows every time I load the Command Center. Any help is greatly appreciated
-
I believe I have the latest version of command center and this is the error that I get when I try to add a new action or event.
-
If no updates available, try uninstalling CC and reinstalling with the current version from support.dell.com. Also, run Windows Update. -
-
I've been running this newer version since it came out. That has to be why I've been getting better battery life than most of the others who have been complaining about it recently. I get 5:45 - 6:5 hours on average. I typically am off AC about 4 hours each weekday. Right now BatteryBar shows my full lifetime is 6:24.

Well it installed fine for me and did not give any errors. I uninstalled touchpad and CC and did registry cleaner from CCleaner before installing the new ones. The touchpad driver SUCKS so much though....as soon as it was installed I disabled it. Moving the mouse...at all....sent cpu usage upto 35+%...just moving the mouse.....this has only been a problem for me with the Dell synaptics drivers....I was using an HP one for a while and it did not suffer from this....wth are they doing to it?!

Well, after reading the info on this thread I updated my 17x-R2 and everything worked OK thanks for the info

Do Not use the respawn disk!! Fired my board after a respawn according to AW tech. Something to do with the old version. Don't see how a software update could fry the board but he was certain this was the cause.
AW sent a Unisys tech and new board next day to replace.
Fast service however my wife had more common sense than this guy. After 2 hrs of looking at his lappy and video tutorials he finally finished replacing the board. I had just about ran out of patience at this point when he makes this comment to me... "I just don't know whats wrong, it passed all the test but it won't boot up." Said I would have to call Dell since he was just a hardware tech and he had other appointment today.Well my just about to run out of patience just completely ran out! I simply told him to get out and I fixed it myself by enabling the RAID in the bios.
Not quite sure what to do about the re-spawn disk now since it has the old version on it. Got any suggestions?? -

Ya......go online to download drivers.....windows 7 has a default wireless driver that will work to get you online

I have moved Granyte's AW/Dell Command Center v2.5.54.0 posts to a new thread - no need to have potential confusion on this as some may not realize he is working with a legacy system.

M11x R2 notes;
It would not install over factory Command Center. You must uninstall first, reboot, then delete the "Program Files\Alienware\Command Center" folder or you will get the ""FastAccess Tray Alert detected an older version running. Please reboot now to complete the installation of the new version." error.
Then install, done! -
Hey so what happened to the update file? I get this:
404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
When was the last time someone accessed the file?
PS. and for what its worth if anyone can solve it, I can't access my Alien Fusion or Touch, only FX and sense on my M15x. I'm stuck in what seems like stealth mode because my GPU is stuck in its downclocked state and pressing the stealth button does absolutely nothing. Even 3rd party stealth mode indicators show that I can't get out of stealth mode. -
do a power drain with the bios battery unplugged for 30 secs and you should be good it happens once and a while where the clocks just randomly downclock and stay there even after a restart.
-
I've never done that with a notebook. Is it fairly simple to access in this computer?

I believe this is it right? Of course the resource from the Dell support page would be for the OTHER M15x. I really wish there was another label in the name to distinguish the two types of M15x's, its super annoying because they're not the same build. I believe I have the newer model. -
Thank you faiz for hooking me up with that link! It seems the updated Command Center allowed me to overclock my gpu back to the normal 3D performance state it was originally in =)

i entered aliensense also its disabled ... dunno why ... but when i open youcam it works but how can i enable it in aliensense? -
- What version of AlienSense are you running?
- What security mode do you have it set to?
- What color is the AlienSense "Alien Eye" icon in the system tray?
- Just as a test, be sure to have YouCam fully closed and set NOT to auto-launch on reboot. Tell me if this helps.
-
a fresh install did the same thing to my command center
also i found the isue i had it was Kaspersky preventing the lisence cheq because it's performed in an unusual way -
-
atm i'm runing the aliensens you provided me for separate instalation and all the aliensens i could try had the same invalid lisence issue with KAV
i'm runing KAV 6.0 for windows workstation version 6.0.4.1212
how ever the new issue i have absolutly no clue what caused it or how to fix it i haven't reinstalled youcam yet and my aliensens show disabeled like MaoMau's pic -
I just did a fresh install last night, everything works great. The laptop picture in Command Center is Red, my system is Black, is there a way to change the color of the laptop in Command Center?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Nope, that is just the way it is. Unless they change it in a later release it will always look red
