i used my new Razor Lachesis box to prop it open so you could see the room inside.

Yes, this thing is heavy as crap. I was surpised how much this beast weighs....

The bag or the notebook. I have that exact bag and with the M1710 in it, I didn't find it heavy at all.

It is not that heavy once it is in the bag. WIthout it, my arm got tired lugging that beast all over Frys! Funny thing- the main dude that is there when you walk in has never heard of AW. How can you work at an electronics store and never hear of AW??

Well with this economy that doesn't surprise me. People will get a job where they can find it. It's probably not a requirement to be electronic savy to work there.

Yes, just go to your first post where you started this thread and click Edit, then click the option that says "go advanced" and you can edit the thread title there.

Hope this helped you, and anyone else who reads this and didn't know about that.

So I tried to install a new Hard drive, but the AW doesnt come with a mounting bracket and "interposer". Do these normally come with non-oem hard drives? I bought a OEM 7200 500gig from New Egg.

OH NO!!! What did you do?

J/K Inkjammer said in another thread that Dell does not include hardware for a second drive if you didn't order it.

Yep, but apparently one guy called Dell and complained that they didn't state in writing anywhere that if you don't order 2 hard drives with it that it doesn't come with the mount and interposer, and has managed to get them to ship one to him, you might want to try that.

Great choice, and MANY thx for showing us that it fits! From what I read, the IBEX model by SwissGear fits it as well, can you confirm?

Testimony incoming, lol... I bought a SwissGear Synergy backpack in '04 for a 15.4" laptop just before shipping-out overseas for several years. Turned out some stitching was loose in one of the straps and came unraveled within months. Seeing as I was overseas, I dealt with it for years till I came back stateside and contacted Wenger (SwissGear). All they asked me was for my address and to e-mail them some pics of the defect and sent me a new bag immediately. Granted, it sucks that the backpack was defective, but THAT'S customer service. They didn't even want the old bag back, so now I have two, one with a gimp strap (that's still holding together on 2 peaces of elastic by some act of god o_O ) and one brand new. I wont buy any other brand again.

P.S. - Sorry for being long-winded, just wanted to give you an idea of what a great choice you made ;) .

As a fellow Nikonian I have to ask what lens's you have?

Photography is a way too expensive hobby for me (even more than computers!) so I had to go on the cheap.

Got a used D70 on ebay for like $250ish
Got a used but perfect condidion Nikkor 50mm F1.4 prime for $200
Got a new 18-200mm OS Sigma for like $320

Thats all I got so far, but between those two len's I can do anything I want.

Later in life want a nice long telephoto lens in the 500mm+ range, and a Macro lens probably also with at least 100mm or so.

I wanted to get a D90 so bad but no $$$, so will wait till later in life and hope to maybe go right up to a full frame sensor like the D700 (what ever the equivalent is at that time)

thanks Drake. Can you post a link to the ones you used? Right now my vid drivers are all jacked up. When it boots to Windows all I see are red and black lines! I am going to have to do safe mode and driver sweep to get it removed. Will install your Dell drivers when I get home. Have you run 3dmark with the new drivers to see how it scores? Hopefully it is at least as good as my stock score

Never mind it's not stable. It worked then crashed.

Edit: rebooting fixes it but running 3dmark06 crashes it (the driver). I'm trying 3dmark again now.

I originally had my old usb mouse plugged in. I don't have a bluetooth mouse. It was a leftover from my old laptop. I got a razer Lachesis for this lappy yesterday. It is wired, but easy to carry around and good for gaming over the wireless ones

    Thanks,

I been waiting until i got mine to go bag shopping. You just saved me some time. I really like swiss.. When it is zipped is it really tight on the notebook?

Only concerns me if I would be on an airplane and some pressure was put on there since it is exposed from the sleeve. I dont want the zipper wearing into the edge of the notebook either.. would be bad..

cool. Even most 17inch bags don't fit the m17x. The Booq mamba bag didn't even come close even though it was made for 17inchers. I think bag companies that advertise 17 inch capacity are talking about Macbooks.

Yea. Seen lots of that on newegg and amazon when researching but wanted to have it in hand so i could check myself...

The only downfall to that bag you got is no water bottle nets on the side... they come in handy.. not a deal breaker but def really nice.

Thanks again for those photos, good job!

Sorry to be a little off topic Vandit, but I spotted in one of your pictures the Microsoft X8 Sidewinder...and have always wondered how it connects to the laptop if not bluetooth

Do you need to have that circular..thing plugged in? or is there some usb stick you can stick in thats..not as much in the way as the other would be.

    blahh...but thats so...tacky
I mean, I wouldn't mind pulling it out every now and then (heh) to charge it...but having it connected at all times?

I so wouldve preferred a tiny usb such as this: Linky

Which comes with this mouse (and looks quite stylish): Linky

but alas, that is no gaming mouse
