New M17x R4, M14X R2 and M18X R2 are coming - Speculation thread.

I heard they don't let people live in houses outside the US. Only tents and caves. Is that true?

We all know the processors will be announced Monday with EDD being a month which is rare for Dell.

My favorite part of the DirectDell post is "Next week, we’ll clarify more Ivy Bridge-related details on the recently-updated Alienware laptops..." sounds like an upgrade for my recently ordered recently updated M17x R4!!

We put a scare into you with our later-to-be-washed-out true freshman as it was. If we had our Heisman candidate in the game, it would have been lights out. He was quoted in the Austin paper the next day as saying he could see everything 'Bama was doing ahead of time, and it was all as he had expected from watching film.

Yes, I'm a sore loser, and this eats at me like you don't even know to this day. So freaking bitter.

But honestly, in the end, after I calm down and think like a mature adult, good game and congrats on your well deserved title (the next one wasn't deserved, though).

True Portuguese people don't have luck at all in the matter of buying an Alienware withouth being overpriced or not having at all the possibility to buy it

 

A bit of context: we CAN buy Alienwares, but only at retailer chains like Media Markt. There, you can either buy last-gen models at slight discount vs. a new one at Dell's website (I saw an M11x R2 for sale 1 month ago, 500 GB HDD, i5, 899€ , or a current gen with weak specs (no SSD) for about 15% more than Dell's website. This is relative to Spain, so it already takes into account that europeans pay a lot more than americans.

Not only that, but you get only the retailer's warranty which is a load of crap (mail-in, 2 years only, techs sometimes break your stuff and are not accountable, etc). If I'm going to spend 1000 euros or more on a laptop, it had better have a proper warranty.

This is why Lp18 is saying that AWs can be overpriced (M11x, M14x and M17x, which I've seen sold at retailers) or not at all (M18x, which I've never seen).

Bill, a warning: if you get someone in these forums for the EU market, I'm going to bother him/her A LOT with this!

 

aucuctly its the same thick as the m18x except it is only 17inch and the design does not make it look as thin

u can see the difference miles away!!! theres no doubt that the m18x beats it in design and size and looks by miles away... performance might be a little behind but they are powerful enough alredy to disregard that

I will be surprised if they release the 2012 models with last gens processor when not one has been shipped yet and they wont be til mid may! This gives alienware enough time to get their hands on IB and make the laptop to the confiqs requested xD

would be the same for me... i got 20% discount cuz of the EPP shop, and the voucher was till yesterday... i wouldnt pay ~ 400$ more if i could of have it for less.. -_-

just chatted with an alienware guy in chat, he said my order will get automatically the ivy bridge opponent. finally now i can chill out

 

If you go back and read over some of the posts you'll see that Bill can't say anything more than he already has untill Monday.
But do remember he said not to cancel your order if you just wanna change to the Ivy proc.
He did also say that representatives aren't allowed to say anything about the ivy's and such to confirm that you will get them.
He did repeat that you will get them..well hinted.
However, if you REALLLLY want a confirmation that is completely official wait till Monday and they will tell you everything besides aren't the shipping dates like mid-May?

Dellinware can't help it tbh XD They got to to respect the wishes of the partners like Intel,Nvidia, AMD so on.
But its nice to have a vague clue towards whats h appening so we can fill in some parts (THANKS BILL)

 

Consider that Allen is in sales. (and very awesome to have here.)

He may just not have the info that Bill does, or he can't acknowledge. If I am correct, the internal announcement at Dell has not been made yet. If it has, it would have been very, very recent. (Of course, this is all speculation on my part.)

Rest easy guys, all will be cleared up on Monday, which is only a couple days away.

 

Pretty obvious they will be shipped with ivy, everything so far is indicative of it. Is it even possible for Bill to give anymore unofficial confirmation?!

I believe HIDevolution does do international (not sure specifically to Australia).

I was considering them a few months back and was researching them. Based on the reviews I read, it seemed that they had good communication prior to ordering but once they got your money it was impossible to get a hold of them. This to me was a big red flag; but take this with a grain of salt. I never used them personally and these reviews might not be a true indication of their customer service.

 

The wait will be horrible... even though Bill has done everything he can to keep us calm I don't think that's possible... but seriously... this is my first Alienware and I'm freakn' stoked to get it... but I'll wait until Monday and see what happens... If I have to re-order for Ivy I definitely will, take the hit and wait... it didn't really cost me anything to be patient... but please... please... I'm begging you!!... build my machine with Ivy!!!... please!!... (enough groveling...)... sniff...

Welcome to the alienware club. These machines are truly awesome, especially when you open the box up and turn it on for the first time.

 

I know what you mean..my m15x is like 2-3 years old now with first gen i7 and STILL feels awesome every time I turn it on XD

 

I hear ya... I can't wait! I have an XPS-17 now that I love but it's a couple years old... 8) The funny thing is I'm not much of a gamer!... I'll be using it as the center piece "hub" of my living room entertainment center connected to a 60' Plasma... I think I'll have to try some games purely for the WOW factor... lol

It's a great time for you then!.... I would definitely re-order if it turns out we're not getting Ivy as you'll want the newest tech... the extra 8-14 days wait will be worth it in so many ways... 8) but I'm pretty confident we'll be just fine....

Question regarding the m14x, did Dell do anything about that ultra reflective almost mirror like screen?
