New Notebook Teaser from Alienware, New Notebooks Coming Very Soon?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention something that might or might not be important: The email that Alienware sent the newsletter in was titled "Discover the Truth". The truth behind what...? The teaser? The company?

 

The truth behind the origin of the brand I guess

 

Personally, I think that everyone is being a little hard on AW. They made a mistake with the m15x, granted- but on the whole they are a decent company. Just wanted to remind people that because we all seem pretty down ATM.

Aside, I have configured an m15x and a new clevo m860tu on eurocom and GUESS WHAT? The Alienware is... actually cheaper than the clevo. Of course, I had to make some changes because they are not offered with the exact same parts, but they to me, would have been comparable. Keep in mind that I live in Canada and I have no clue what the exchange is right now.

 

im not down on AW jmst....
i still prefer AW over others, but from my point of view, this whole breed things is too gimicky...while kewls in terms of animation, it does nothing for me in regards to what i am looking for which is improved and up to date products.
there is such a thing as too much hype before something.
this happens a lot with movies...but hey - at least with the movie trailers you get to see more then what the first breed offers.

Atleast you got the m17x a whole month before europe got a chance. Ive said goodbye to them its just stupifying how they treat people.

Sounds really sweet. I'm guessing that it'll have the Montevina chipset and 9-series video cards? If Alienware lowers the price a little so it's a little more competitive with Sager's 15" I'll definitely buy one at the end of the year.

Do you guys think that they'll show off the new m15x on the August 5 AlienNetwork video? Wow, black and silver look really nice. It'll be a really hard decision choosing.

i count five ports (not counting the kensington "lock") on the side of that black one in the pic. my m15x only has three (without the lock) on the right side. unless it's an m17x pic labelled "m15x", those are two ports more. which indicates a new motherboard, as they wouldn't have much reason to add ports otherwise.

 

How different will this be from the silver ripley m15x? Will some, if not all, of the components change?

WHOA WHOA WHOA hold your horses folks, from my point of view, the ports on the side of that thing perfectly fit an m17x. both in numer and arrangement as well as the fact that the middle port appears lighter because it's a firewire port and has that little white thingy sticking out. so don't post your "old" m15x's on ebay just yet.

EDIT: the fourth pic is the alleged "new" m15x.

 

When and where did this information about the new m15x come from?

 

I would really love to have the black m15x if there was the option back when I purchased my m15x in June. Since my computer has not even been built yet (I found out that the chassis/motherboard kit is still on back-order, and it has been a month since I made my order) I wonder if it is at all possible to change it to black and get it a tad early. :<

@edit: I hope to God that's a photoshopped picture. Don't make my disappointment go for naught.

 

The lines from the ad "redefining your standards" and "nothing will ever be the same" sound pretty convincing that it's an overhaul.

 

look at the pics i attached. plus, on second view, that thing looks awefully beefy for an m15x.

 

I can't answer any questions regarding the new m15x, but I can tell you this:

It's going to be worth the wait.

mate, honestly, i'm not buying your story. and the above certainly doesn't help.

 

I'm pretty sure that's the m17x. All of the components on the side of the computer on that ad (security lock slot, gigabit ethernet, firewire A, firewire B, HDMI and USB) match up with the components on the m17x. The ad must have been photoshopped.

regarding the PS question... well, imho, the picture isn't exactly "crisp"... maybe the creator blurred it a bit to hide the small stuff that usually gives away fakes?

 

Well lets hope its an M17x, otherwise.. Poor m15x owners...

 

My theory was that this was already an existing advertisement. The part where it says "m15x" was just modified a bit. If it had said "m17x" prior to the photoshopping, the person only needed to take out the "7" and replace it with a "5" then fill it in with the necessary colors so it doesn't look out of place.

The picture probably looks distorted because the person who did the photoshopping was not able to fill in those colors between the open spaces of the "5" without making it look obvious. Therefore, he could have distorted the picture as a whole so the whole thing looks even.

That's my guess, really.

 

I've never seen an advertisement like that from Alienware for the m15x or the m17x. If he designed a whole unique ad as nice as that, then I don't know what to think.

 

I'll upload an example of what I'm talking about. I was able to save the picture and examine it at 1600%. The second "m15x" layering is a bit off as far as color is concerned. Spacing and size is also off. This is what it looks like on my computer. Again, I may be entirely wrong with this, but have a look anyway.



@edit: My question is, if this is a legitimate advertisement, why would the quality be bad? Where was the source of this advertisement and how was it found?

This is the m17x not the m15x. I know from the ports and the vents at the back. The m15x has a battery in the middle remember?

 

Sorry guys, the m15x is not going to be updated. It's going to remain exactly as it is and will never claim KING of the 15" laptops.

dude that pic is a M17x no questions ... its a very nice photoshop job but.. however i dont think its offical..


ALienware them selves say the BREED thing stars the M15x and the Area51 desktop... im about 100% sure its a new case.. prob black.. or blue.. imo they are going to release new painting options for both the cases and the notebooks now VoodooPC has got up and running with HP in full force and is producing some very very very nice custom paintjobs etc again.

i dont know about chipset upgrades thou..

the 9800 GT or the 9800 GTX are a given as well seeing as nvidia are going to stop making 8800m GTX fairly soon

 

You know - the first thing I thought when I saw this was "That's an m17x" and "What a poor quality image"

Then I looked at the tagline and it said m15x, after which I looked at the laptop itself again, and it just looked too much like an m17x, then I looked back at the line and noticed little things like font spacing being completely uneven (look at how close the x is to the 5, the random gap behind the E in NEW)

Then there's the darker background behind "NEW", and what's quite obvious that this is an amateuristic fake: Look at the gray brushing behind and above "Nothing will ever be the same"

In that same line the "5" is bigger than the "1".

Wow, I've used photoshop waaaaay too long XD but then again, I noticed that the iran missle launch fake was a fake before seeing the original (if you look at the smoke you see their exactly the same, and those kind of things stand out in my crazy mind)

You have one hell of a looker with the AW design, just fix the quality and you will have SO many more orders
