No more GTX 260M for M15X?

my friend phoned up earlier about ordering his m15x with the 260m gtx and the guy said that he can get it but only if he does the ordering process through the phone.

 

The rep I keep contact with says she can get it for me from Monday onwards.

 

Thank sweet freaking God for that. Hopefully they'll still have some left on wednesday!

but if the card is based on MXM standard & system BIOS supports it, I think you can swap it.

I heard HD5870 is 60W TDP, so it might run cool & give us more battery life compared to 75W TDP GTX260.

Is it me or has there never been an ATI card in any m15x? I hope that 260M returns tomorrow in which case I am ordering right after uni. Although I want to wait for the refresh my inner self is begging no. By the time a refresh comes out uni will have finished for the year and I'll have no excuse to get the M15x since I had to convince my parents that it was for 'intensive engineering applications'

 

By the way, she said she'll be able to get it for me by sending me a quote using her own dell software, I don't know if that means it'll be back on the website or not today. If she does manage to I can give you the name of the dell rep that you can speak to via the UK online chat feature.

 

just confermed that its posibel to order the GTX 260 to M15x via phone in sweden and think it is like that in all europe, and thay took it away from the site bechuse its a long waiting list on them right now. Thats what i herd on the rode anyway... take it for what it is.

 

So i guess this means no refresh then? I was getting all nervous since i just bought my M15x and was wondering if i should call in and return it =x

 

So, any words on how long it will take before they put it back on the website ? cause i really would like to order one, but i pref to do it over the net application then over the phone where misstakes can happen. I hope i can get my system before the summer. Any words on when they will be back in stock enough to go back on the web ?

you should still do it over the phone. You can achieve a better price if you phone them. Besides, the customer rep will send you a confirmation email with the proper specs, where you can double check that everything you ordered is there.

Hey there I just literally placed my order now and have received an estimated date of 6th Feb. The rep also confirmed that there should not be any delay in processing the order due to the GTX260M. Sooooo excited now.

 

Hey thats great, I got a quote today from my rep with the 260GTX with an EDD of the 5th Feb - but he wanted me to take a 9 cell battery so im going to order tommorow when hes sorted it out for me.

 

I'm getting twitchy! Kinda worried that the global supply of 260M's will run dry before wednesday...

How come the EDD's are so early?! I'm shocked, I thought Dell had a (bad) reputation concerning delivery etc...

The responsable marketing of Dell France confirmed to me today that the exchange of my SXPS 1645 is validated and my M15x is going in Production

He's the rep that has pretty much worked tirelessly for me to get me a 260GTX with perfect options for my price. - Saying that, he just sent me a quote which i'm going to purchase in a couple of hours for £1232.06 with:

Well, the funny thing is when I got my quote yesterday it was the 6th. Today I asked for another quote with a 5% discount and now my EDD is 11th Feb. Anyway its now nearer my b-day.

I managed to order my m15x with GTX 260M over the phone after trying a couple of times to do it online. According to the two sales reps i spoke to, its a problem with the software their end...

Anyway, ordered on the 19th, its been shipped allready and should arrive on the 1st. £1267 with 720qm, 4gb ram, 320gb hdd, 260M, Full HD display, 9 cell battery.

Did anybody else get told that you must have the 9 cell with the 260m, as i notice some of you that have only the 6 cell???

 

Yes I did, and then I told the rep how others had it with the 6 cell and she got the quote amended.

 

I thought it was 9 cell only for the most powerful i7 not the GTX 260m. As you say, yes I have the 6 cell with 260m so I guess these reps are less than aware of what they sell.

 

Well they can send me a 6 Cell and a refund. Dont see the point in the 9 Cell as its never going to run off the battery anyway.

 

Hi, i was just in contact with Dell, and they said i only can order the 260M card if i order it with a i7 processor. i was going for i5, or something since i cannot afford the top gear on every aspect. All of you orderd with i7 eh ?

 

I just got off the phone with Dell UK and they now say the GTX 260M is out of stock

Yeah, I don't think its worth it without the i7. Otherwise you just get a cool lookin' laptop, with not enough grunt to game sweetly. That is a personal opinion though and its coming from somebody who really doesn't know much about laptops.. (please feel free to correct me guys)

Same here, i finally put my order via phone (with a i7 btw ) And iv not yet recived any email either, begining to think he got the wrong mail, but maybe not since you have to wait aswell. I choosed to pay via creditcard aswell, the money has been withdrawn, but iv yet to see any email

Yeah just noticed too. By the way, you guys who ordered ur laptops over the phone, how long did you guys have to wait to recive any email from the dealer ? And is that email necessary to in some way confirm the order to get it delivered ?

 

Hi there, I got my quote yesterday morning, replied to it instantly, received order acknowledgement within a few hours and finally received confirmation email (after payment authorisation) around 9/10 that night. Today its at 'in production' stage. Thats it.
