just got my order processed edd 20th nov or sooner i hope its sooner
-
I am with you ... I am not good a waiting on new electronics so ordering machines online is always a killer for me.
I think I check the site 5 or 6 times a day. -
Less than 10 working days from submitting the order to delivery (touch wood).
-
must be nice - ordered mine on the 19th and it is still in production
-
ARRGH!
"boxing" for two days! man that better be one nice box! -
wow ... that is a bit excessive on the time frame. Maybe they keep messing the tape up
-
I don't have much faith in the Order Status - I received my new router yesterday and it just now updated to Delivered at 1:00 EST.
-
im using the phone number they had posted in the previous thread. seems to be a bit more updated than their site.
-
I'm sure your reaction will inspire many others to send in their pictures too. -
Speaking for myself I fully appreciate any information / pics I can get my hands on. It is keeping me busy while I try to wait for mine to ship.
-
Just that I have a Dell Latitude 600D somthing in "silver".
After 3 moths it looked like a Dog chewed on it.
The silver paint chips off and the black plastick comes true.
It looks horible.
Saying that, I have an old Inspiron 8100 (must be from 2001), that still looks Ace.
The screen back then was a 1600 X 1200, and my mates would say;
"Hey, you got a few dead pixles there"
and I would replay; " No Mate, thats just the XP Icons" -
wooooop
went into delivery this morning. cant wait! -
I'm excited for you.
-
So I am assuming that with the new bios, you can use dell's drivers now for the touchpad? I will be updating it shortly.
-
-
What's the phone number you guys said was better for checking system status with?
-
UK: 0870 907 5818
You have to click a bunch of buttons to eventually end up at the order status prompt. Even though its all automated you can only check the order status between the hours of 9am to 17:30.
My order status still says to expect delivery on Nov 18 (ordered Sept 30). I wonder if the SSD drives for both machines are the cause of the delivery delays. The SSD drivers are not available as options via the UK website which would suggest some sourcing issue for the UK market.
Hi Nthraller! I am Zervun, Zavun, Zerval and Zaval from the hirr corp in Eve Online. o/ -
Bubbamel thats an interesting experience you've had there! I am very keen on picking up the M15x to replace my Dell XPS M1730. I need something powerful, yet still portable as I frequently travel now for work reasons. The M15x looks to be quite a large laptop... How does it stack up to a normal 15" laptop?
Thats one of the reasons I was looking at the HP Envy 15, but unfortunately it doesn't come with an inbuilt optical drive, which is a deal breaker for me. -
Can anyone tell me the performance difference from a HD resolution to a FHD resolution? I understand that higher resolution the more stress it puts on your card compared to a lower res.
Any help is appreciated. -
-
Edit: of course this is all just my opinion. -
As the chap above me said, if your just gaming theres nothing wrong at all with the 1600x900 screen, not running games at full HD will give you more frames per second but obviously due to their being less pixels, a bit less quality. At least going for the full H one you have the choice anyway -
Has anyone seen any nice monitors (22-24") that are compatible with display port? I have seen a couple but they seem to be much more expensive than regular HDMI monitors.
I would like one for gaming, will there be much of a noticeable difference graphics wise from VGA to display port/hdmi??
Sorry if that is really stupid. I presume there will be a big difference, but i don't know a great deal about the difference between everything. -
Anyone know a good program to watch blu-ray movies. I did a clean install and I forgot what the old program is called.
-
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
On a screen that size, I can't really see a huge difference between 720P and 1080P.
On my 60" Sony and BR drive, I'd say half the movies I receive from Netflix are 720P and the ever present bars show up. With the proliferation of 720P sets and options, you will always have 720P as an option along with 1080P.
1600x900 @ 15.6 = 117.68 DPI
1920x1080 @ 15.6 = 141.21 DPI
Considering I run 100.63 DPI on my 30" Apple Cinema @ 2560x1600, 141 is very extreme IMHO.
I actually find 1440x900 @ 15.4" a very nice resolution. I had a chance to use a M4400 for a few weeks with the RGBLED 1920x1080 option and
it was brutal on that screen. I couldn't imagine doing code work on that small of a screen @ that resolution for long.
Scaling in Win7 is much better than Vista and worlds better than XP, but still not 100% across all applications unless all you do is stare at your desktop all day.
1600x900 is much more future proof for gaming than 1920x1080 at native resolution. -

I'll call shortly and get a update anyhow. Thanks again, Redback. Rep+ for heeding my call. -

this is for EPP so your prompts may differ.
and credit to whomever posted this in the other thread is due, im just too lazy to search for it -
I wish they still do the phase 1/2/3/4/5 and so on for US orders... I like it that way better than being stuck on " In Production ", lol.
Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
yeah honestly
this in production phase is taking forever -
ayep. mine has been "boxing" for three days now.
-
Hmm, you ordered on 10/22/2009 then in boxing phase on 10/26... that's fast.
[ Even though you're still on boxing phase from 10/26 -10/28 ]
-
Ordered 10/25/09 and it still says "in production" -_- , EDD is 11/10/09 which isn't bad but my last few notebooks have all been macs or in store purchases so waiting is a PITA
-
i'm in the us. you have to call the 800 number to get something other than "in production".
i'm just impatient is all. that and worried as the last dell lappy i bought was the m1730 and it went back a week later when all the whites turned yellow and dell wanted me have someone come repair a 2 day old laptop. here's hoping this one goes a lot better -
Lol same mine is still in production also. Same EDD too. Omg * crosses finger * hope we get ours very soon... I hate the waiting game, lol. Back when I ordered my m5550 few years ago, it took them 2 weeks + for me but hopefully it takes them less than 2 weeks to make our systems now =S -
Considering that you got to boxing stage in 5 days [ 2 of the days are saturday & sunday ] Im guessing they work during weekends too?
Edit: I just called the number you had in one of your posts ( 1-800-283-2210 ) ... and it says that mine is in boxing stage too.; EDD 10/09/2009
However, I also tried the automated order status... ( 1-800-433-9014 ) and it says that my order is processed... with EDD of 11/10/2009... don't know which one is accurate... -
Post some pics of those new i7 machines please...
-
actually use the 1-800-283-2210 with the prompts listed in the prev posts and i believe you have to call within the hours of 7am to 530pm to get the details not just processing status
-
Hmm considering mine says processed... that means they haven't even worked on it yet? * QQ * -
no change yet, but anxiously counting down the days! and hoping it won't make my uni grades plummet after that as well
btw, has anyone tried the DP > adaptor > HDMI tv-screen (e.g. Sony 42" bravia)? does the audio work? -
-
And my M15x arrived already
It is great!
Coming from a 5920G Acer, the build looks fantastic. I'm glad that I haven't had the chance to see M17x before I got this one.
Anyway, the "black" case is really black, so you shouldn't be concerned about it.
So far I haven't had a chance yet (still setting up my personal software etc.) to run a game on it, but every single program (including installations) run like *snap*. The display is amazing as well (Full HD one), and yes the text size is a tad on the small size, but it's not that big deal
Anyway, I have a question that probably everyone might be able to answer me. On the power supply unit there is some kind of rubber band around it, that goes inside the unit (or at least that's the impression I get). What the hell is it? It's the first time I see something like that on a supply unit.
P.S. The BIOS version is A01, so it ships with the BIOS updated at Alienware -
exciting stuff for sure.
grats on a nice lappy too -
Thanks Biggy_Rox
I was suspecting that it does something like this, but better be safe and ask someone who knows, than do something on my own
Btw, the Win7 installation is surprisingly clean. There were only two things that I didn't like - McAfee trial was installed, even despite my choice of not installing it, and the Dell Backup Utility, which I'm never going to use starts up with the system by default. Other than that, it was much cleaner than other laptops that I've had before. -
shock horror! The laptop arrives WITH all this rubbish installed just as she said it WOULD NOT. Not a huge deal mind it was easy enough to remove, but the annoyance of even following up wiht a call only to be lied to is enough to vex the calmest of souls.
otherwise, rocking lappy huh!
and once agian im going to say that the build quality of this machine is far above any i have used before, feels like a tough book, looks like a savage slick beast. and yes the black finish, is very much black. -
Hello Guys!
So i bought my Alienware m15x some weeks ago and i am really loving it!
BUT, there are some things that i would like to share with you guys. Maybe u can help me with them
-ONE stuck/dead pixel (black) at the top left corner of screen
- Touchpad is very laggy
- Sometimes the keyboard doesn't record all the buttoms i press but a restart fixes it (still annoying).
- Stealth mode doesnt work on battery ??? Isnt that the point of it ? to preserve battery life? ?
- Had to format when i got it. To much crap on it.
- when i got it command center didnt work (fixed by formatting)
- Even after format Touch and Fusion apps in Command center doesnt work
- When i received it one of the buttoms on the keyboard was not pressed all the way in. A little puss fixed it.
- Keyboard Light is not even (some buttoms are not lid up very much)
I had GREAT expectations of this laptop so all of the above kind of made me alitle unhappy. But it's still a great laptop and i would still recommend it even though it has some errors/bugs/faults.
Hope you can help me with some of my problems
Edit: Sorry if my english sucks. I am from denmark -
Same here, I'm currently debating between 2 security solutions (one is my current ESET Smart Security with ~5-6 months left on the license), and the other is the latest KIS with 12 months left (a license was issued by my bank when I registered for online banking, which was a great thing imo). I'll check both later on
That's why I didn't want to have McAfee installed.
Anyway, minor but slightly annoying inconvenience
NiklasBrock - did you update your BIOS to v. A01, which was released recently? It should fix your Keyboard/Touchpad issues.
I'm not really sure what you mean by "too much crap" on itAs I said above, there were 3 or 4 total programs installed - Nero, McAfee trial, and the Dell backup utility. If you have had other manufacturer's laptops before, they come preinstalled with a lot more software. Yes, nothing beats a clean install, but Alienware are doing quite good in this field
A reinstall of Command Center should fix it (although I didn't need to) and its components.
