Seems like alot of minor problems, either way I would send it back. If the pixel is black then its dead and there isnt anyway of fixing it. Just send it back for a replacement or get it fixed.

    Updated and got 11067 :) For a laptop, that's quite a decent job :D

WoW plays at 1920x1080 on Ultra smoothly. Haven't tested yet in raids, but I am not worried :p

Later on will test with Crysis, Fallout 3 & NFS: Shift

This is from the Dell site where I got the link:

May be that it's a fix for bios A00 rather than an upgrade to A01. Has it fixed the Keyboard/Touchpad lag?

Hey guys hows the BIOS fix working for you? Don't have time to speak much on how its working for me im in class right now. I bought borderlands for my M15x this week and its the first really new game I've run on the system. I get very good frames maxed out @ 1920x1080 with shadows off and reasonable AF setting, solid 60fps dips down to low 40s when theres around 10 enemies on the screen but when FRAP's isn't running I would never notice the drop. Awesome game, check it out if you like shooters/rpgs and wanna see some pretty graphics on your M15x. Did someone say the bios fix isn't working for them?

i had this same worry, as the 260m was in the M17x a good while ago, heck some cheaper dells and HPs have them now...

however upon using it for games it performs just great, im pretty sure that some games will lag a little with everything on max at FHD res but meh its a laptop it will never be as good as a 1k PSU desktop with quad SLI etc anyway.

Im delighted and for the future im sure more advanced low heat cards will come out as games get better and the M15x will keep up for a few years np.

One thing that i am alitle concerned about is that my keyboard lights are fading?
Some keyboard buttoms dont light up as much as others?. its mostly the buttom keys (FN, windows, alt, space, alt gr, that weird one, ctrl, and arrow keys) they are all starting to fade? How can this be?

I have only had the laptop for like 2 weeks..

I had to cancel my order.. and resubmit it yesterday.. so my waiting game started all over again. Got the same laptop/specs.. but...

I talked to my boss about our dell vendor at work and he got me a quote through him so i got some business discount.

Basically saved me $150 bux.. which he then said I could get the 3 year warranty for (online its $530).. so ya i opted for the 3 year complete care warranty and still saved $10 off my original order.

Cant complain basically got n extra 2 year warranty for free.. just gotta wait longer :-(

How easy is it to upgrade the new M15x? I'm thinking of buying one with 4GB of RAM, then upgrading myself later. Same for the Hard Drive, possibly with a SSD. Bummer about the battery life, but hopefully they'll include a fix for it sometime...

Damn Bing Cashback fell through with my order on the HP Envy 15, and I don't feel like arguing with them how I was right anymore >_< Luckily, I got family in the military, so I can order the M15x through AAFES :D

*EDIT: Has anyone figured out if the DisplayPort transmits sounds if used with a DisplayPort->HDMI cable yet? Haven't checked the thread in 2+ weeks...

it shipped today, estimated for saturday. just the fact that i paid extra for next day.

as for the AAFES you'll get a smokin deal anyways so screw bing. swapping the ram or HDD is a simple affair if you know how to use a screwdriver. i got bored the other day so i read through the service manual and the bottom comes right off.

i went ahead and opted for the 4gb and SSD because even if they arent using the BEST SSD its still going to be heads and tails better than a standard HDD and for the price its cheaper than buying it from newegg last time i checked.

and in a year something will blow THEM away. it sucks being an early adopter.

the machine im typing this on has a 1200W psu and dual 8800ultras with thermalright sinks. $800 a pop and now they are outdated...

    do it!
great machine: from everything I have read, I am not sure the upgrade in memory to 1333 is worth the extras, go for the blu ray and the HD screen. The 1920 x 1080 screen is by LG is superb: well worth the extra.

Everything else depends on budget as to 720 or 920 cpu and the 512 or 1mb video -- serious gamers will want the 920 and 1 mb and will trade off on the blu ray if pressed for price.

other than that, win7 is good, driver support is all there, Command Centre features work as designed -- no reasons not to bite: just down to wants/budget/features.

Its not a requirement by any means. Most games/daily usage you wont exceed 4gb and thats why most users will recommend 4gb to you.

Ram is a pretty cheap/straight forward upgrade down the line so 3gb should be ok for now but again always your call.

1333Mhz is supposed to give a performance boost since i7 has no FSB but this may be negligible since your biggest bottle neck down the line will be the GPU. (A nice upgrade nonetheless. I will also upgrade in the future)

IMO.. If you ordered the 3gb and your not doing any benchmarking etc you should be ok for now. Keep an eye on it and in the future if you start running heavy games/apps upgrade your ram and get the 1333Mhz.
