I posted some crappy iphone pics of it a few posts back..hehe. Unfortunately I am in the process of boxing up my lappy to send it back as well. Sorry about that ed0.

If you are going to be plugged in 95% of the time, then yes, this laptop is quite fast and wonderful. As far as a mobile solution, unfortunately that is another story. (Unless there is a bios or driver update).

Haha.. I thought the same thing, but knowing Sleey0, he took that thing out just right after he decided to send that puppy back. :D

Well, I know Sleey0 is just a returns-happy dude and didn't like the magnesium no-aluminum thing, but I hope the rest of those returning are not jumping the gun here. What if some update comes up within days that gives the computer a much better battery life and fixes the lags?

I would think it is kind of sudden to return this thing if only using it for <1 day.

It might be a while before there are any updates.

I would suggest returning and re-ordering once the fixes come out. I would also say to wait about 14 days to return as the fixes may come within that time.

Actually for me war, it is the extreme stuttering issue on battery life that is affecting me. I tried using this at school and had to end up writing my notes instead because it was so slow and laggy. ( Did get alot of oooohhh's and ahhhhh's)... :D I do not want to take the chance and wait for Alienware to come out with a bios update long after my return date is due. I need something now for school that can function as a mobile solution as well as a gaming unit. I personally love the feel of the laptop and the magnesium does not bother me, its really beautiful. The monitor is very clear...excellent and bright! Unfortunately, the stuttering and lag on battery is just that bad.

I agree. You can't spend $2K for a laptop that only works as a desktop. Everybody should be packing theirs up.

I would back this up as well. At least I would give it the benefit of the doubt. It's not like if you don't return it in 24hrs you lose your money.

    Nice, that's reassuring :)

Great! With mobile I meant the dragging along. When I reach my destination it'll be plugged back in right away ^^
And I'm sure they'll come with an update in due time. As more and more people buy this baby, more and more feedback will be coming in. They won't be able to ignore it if it's really that bad :)
All I have to do now is wait 3 weeks :(

I think you will be getting alot sooner than 3 weeks Dodgie, and enjoy the new laptop! I know you will love it. Let's put it this way, if I return my current laptop and Alienware releases a bios update, patch or driver for the lag on battery, I would DEFINITELY re-purchase this laptop. :D I hope that eases up any concern.

It does, thank you! And it would be great to receive it sooner then that, 3 weeks can feel like an extremely long time if you're looking forward to something :p

Anyway, I'll be checking up on this thread then the coming weeks. Reckon if they release a patch/update this'll be the place to hear it first :p

I have a strong love affair with laptops - doesn't matter who makes what.

I prefer Dell and AW, but I also have a Sony Z.

The Adamo is the base model (desire). Got a great deal with discounts ;)

adamo looks better to me than an envy 13 or a macbook air.

Good luck with the Adamo. I tried one a few months ago and it was pretty slow. The SSD was terribly slow and the CPU couldn't keep up. I loaded up a beta of Win 7 and that helped quite a bit so the curse of Vista was strong with that one. Besides the performance issue the speakers were muffled due to the position behind the display, and the display had poor viewing angles. Other than that the machine itself is drool worthy. One of the most beautifully made machines around. If you do a search under my name I have some pics of the machine disassembled.

Adamo is a nice bit of work, but not my type of laptop. Were I going for a high portability aspect, I think I'd go with a netbook. Just glancing at it, I'd put it on par with the Macbook Air. It looks nice, but it's really not all the practical beyond just surfing the web and stuff....and I'd be afraid I'd manage to like..snap it in two somehow.

It isn't meant to be a gaming machine or a workhorse.

If you accept it for what it is then it isn't bad. I'll find out more tomorrow ;)

Man am I bummed out. Not because I want to send my M15x back, I flippin love it but seriously like bubbamel said you cant even type in NOTEPAD let alone serious typing on battety. Plugged in this thing is a dream machine. Powerful, quiet, and stunning to look at, but I didnt want a desktop, I want a laptop...

ps Im about to call dell and I will do everything I can too keep this lappy I'm going to wait 14 days before I even consider sending it back, If in theory I did send it back because they couldnt resolve this I would rebuy in a heartbeat if the studdering issue was fixed. To all those waiting on their M15x I really want to hear if you have this same problem. If not your going to love this laptop.

Just wondering while I'm sitting here on AW tech support on hold has anyone tried installing 7 yet? Could something with the power issues be optimised for 7 since after the 22nd presumably all units will be sold with 7.

Please hold for the next available agent...
...all agents are currently busy please hold...

wonder if they are getting lots of calls today haha.

I'm willing to wait it out if its just a studdering problem. I just hope the 1600x900 screen is nice.

How bad is the text on the 1920x1080 screen? Is it super tiny? I know you can adjust it in windows for the most part, but some applications don't adhere to that.

Listen Skumbag (lol) I think the hi-res will be way too small on it. I had a 1440x900 on my last laptop, then went with 1920x1200 on this new one (both 17") and I noticed the difference right away. At first kind of small but got use to it quick.

On a 15" it would be a tad small for me I think. And my eyes are good.

    Got that? Skumbag.
