This is weird-over in the Sager NP8690 forum they're saying that system DOESN'T have USB issues at all...so how come the Dell and Asus' equivalent systems do?

When did you order yours and did you get anything upgraded? I'm just trying to figure out a timeline it might come because I am TERRIBLE at this waiting game. I have no patience when it comes to things like this.

Also any good software to test out my m15x when it arrives. Got cod mw2 waiting but I want to see what my system is capable of (seeing as I am used to my rubbish laptop, want to see what a decent system can do).
Although saying that Dell and their idiot way of shipping means its probably not going to be an issue for me for quite a bit.

    Thanks

Yup. to parrot some others. I have zero remorse on getting the M15x. It's plenty of PC laptop for me for now. Build quality is freakin' outstanding for a PC product. Easily as good as any Apple product I've ever owned (and I've owned a bunch). Whoever it was that asked about the personalized nameplate, yeah I got it done. With guess what? That's right, joeaux. I love this machine.

Dell/HP/Toshiba...etc all those factory are built in China, They work 24/7. There is no weekend. Those worker get like 1 day off a week. I'm pretty sure its still in production. Even with the ones off (they rotate) there's always one at work.

Press your finger on the stealth mode button, and the stealth mode logo will show up in the middle of your screen. If its lit blue its on, if not its off. It is kind of inconvient, wish there was an easier way.

195.81 from the nVidia site: on the gaming thread, a lot of people like the 186.62 too -- tried it and updated to 195 as it is both stable and seems to have good power management to compliment the graphics.
You can always test drive it for a while and roll back to the stck dell driver if needed but the 195 seems robust for me on win7 64 bit

Hey guys, what temps are you getting for the CPU cores. Cores #0 and #2 are always about 5 degrees hotter than the other 2 cores. Is this normal? Maybe uneven spread of thermal compound?

Feel bad for those who were waiting on today to buy! $1399 base price now includes an i5 with the i7 720QM costing $100 for the upgrade.

Check out the new configuration option on the Dellienware website.

Wow, I received the notebook bag that I ordered with the M15x and man the messenger bag is huge, I hope this thing doesnt fill the entire space cause if it does its way bigger than I thought...

Anyways, something i've been wondering is, is there a smaller keyboard out there that is used for gaming on laptops? Not even a full sized keyboard but something without the number pad that will fit inside a messenger bag? (I use the mouse with my left hand, so thats cutting out some of the ones I see out there)

    Thanks!

prob b/c you have the 820 and that price for upgrade wasn't changed from base price. The 1399 option originally included the 720 which is now a $100 option, since at the same base 1399 price you get the i5 now

honestly, if they had the i5 option but at a 1299 price, I would've jumped b/c I get a great discount through alienware.. oh well!

What games? The vast majority of stuff that runs under XP should run fine under Vista/7 too (and...well I don't know the percentage, but probably most 9x stuff too).

Annoyingly, sometimes the GAME runs fine, but the stupid DRM they've slapped on it doesn't (which of course only affects us PAYING CUSTOMERS) :-/

A Dell tech came to my house two days ago and replaced my screen due to a bright pixel. It took him over four hours to figure out how to do it. He got the screws mixed up. So the panel that has the Alien power button and the volume buttons has screws that are too long, so when he tried to scew it on, it buckles. He took the panel off and tried to put in back on several times, until he broke it. I got my new panel today from Dell and I installed it my self and it fits good if I don't try to screw in these screws (behind the battery) because they are too long.

The Dell tech also had no cleaning equipment with him. Nothing to wipe the screen or air spray. When he was done working on my laptop it looked like Sh&t. I never touch my screen; it is a pet peeve of mine and this screen looked like hell. He apologized for it looking like that and left. I cleaned the screen and then noticed several pieces of dust an hair trapped inside the new screen. Very unprofessional.

I called Dell and they are sending me a new panel with the proper screws and they are sending a different Dell person to clean the inside of my screen.

Other than that I couldn't be happier with the laptop. Dragon Age looks and plays great.

Is there going to be a new bios update anytime soon for the M15x?

My sound stutters, and I think it's a throttling problem I dont know.

There is already a bios update out. Check on the Dell site for the download.

As far as your sound stuttering issue... its unlikely a throttling issue. If you're talking about in a video game I'd check to make sure the Stealth Mode wasn't accidently turned on. If that's not what you're referencing then let us know when the sound is stuttering. =)

The Logitech G13 is a very nice one handed gaming keyboard. It's not an ideal solution cos the thumb buttons are right handed but the main keyboard has ambidextrous contours so you would still have 22 fully programmable keys. Not to mention it has a handy screen and the keys are back-lit like the M15x ;)

Yeah thats the one I was looking at actually... I wouldnt use the thumb stick even if it was on the right side so im not too worried about that...

Is there goo weight to the G13? I dont want it to be moving around as I play too much...

    Thanks!

I don't have FEAR anymore, but I just checked Bioshock and it runs fine. The only weird thing with it was it didn't go full screen correctly the first time until I toggled window mode on and off.

Is this a retail version of Bioshock? Do you have the newest DirectX 9 redistributable installed? It's possible it needs something from that lacking in Vista/7. I'm running Nvidia's newest drivers as of I guess a couple of weeks ago.

I think I said this but so far I haven't run into anything that worked on XP but not Vista/7, and most 9x stuff works fine too.

Direct X is kind of weird. Vista includes DirectX 10 out of the box, and 7 DirectX 11, yet DirectX 9 has been updated since then, and the redistributable is for XP, AND Vista/7. There are apparently games that had issues on Vista if you didn't have DirectX 9 up to date.

My copy of Bioshock installed a version of 9 ahead of time before launching. I should warn you that Bioshock, while an awesome game, has activation. The retail one has limited activation, and the Steam one of course has Steam activation. That's why I bought it on Xbox instead, except there was a deal on Steam to get it for like $5 or something (maybe less), and I couldn't resist getting it.

It should run REALLY well on a Geforce GTX 260! I only have a 32-core Nvidia GPU, and for the heck of it while I was testing it a couple of hours ago, I cranked everything to max (1650x1050 or something or other on my monitor), and it actually ran it with a fairly solid frame rate. Your GPU is roughly 3.5x faster, so it'll chew it up and spit it out :-D
