Apparently, only the M17X Rev 02 is due to get the 5870 crossfire setup. The little bro is left in the shadow of the behemoth. Time will tell...

 

I just ordered my M15x on the 15th, so i won't be doing any upgrades for now. I am excited however, to see how much the 920xm price drop will be once the i9s come out , and i'll definately be upgrading then as soon as they hit ~350$, ( yes i know it might be a while, but hey i saw the 920xm on ebay for 650$).

I also have a strange feeling like you "thenzfarmer" that the 260M won't get upgraded for a longg while. When it does however, I'm also planning to upgrade that.

Thats the beauty with these machines, they offer you extreme performance in a slightly BIGGER package than most laptops, but are highly configurable and UPGRADEABLE. To me, this was one of the most important aspects that alienware laptops had. Try upgrading your MAcbook pros Apple Lovers , i wish you the best of luck. hehe

 

Just called Dell, the person said my m15x should be shipping out today or tomorrow I cant wait, the wait is killing me!!!

 

I guess I'm overlooking it, but I thought I saw somewhere there was a fix for the iPhone syncing issues. I would like to know because I have sold all my other computers and this is the only one I have now and I need to sync my phone. Thanks.

Can any of you wonderful folk tell me how many DIMM slots the M15x has? Is it two or three? I know very few of you, if indeed any, will have actually opened the computer up (why would you) but I'd love to know!

Hmm, a bit random but has anyone with a M15x undervolted their cpu?

Is it worth it? I was reading up on the undervolting guide but those apps don't seem to recognize my i7 Q820 so the advanced CPU settings tab doesn't even appear.

 

Im sooooooo jealous right now lol. When did u order it? what was the date? Just for comparison reasons.

I ordered on the 17th and just saw SHIPPED notice this morning on the status page. Trouble is they have delivery scheduled for the 30th which is a Saturday and I had it shipped to my work address thinking it would be delivered during the week (didn't even think UPS/FedEx delivered on Saturday unless you $pecial request it). Hopefully it will arrive on Friday but I doubt it knowing my luck. Oh well, at least it's on the way.

Works beyond perfection, just installed CS suite and I get NO lag!
My MX mouse is working flawlessly on blue tooth since the touch pad really does suck..

Yey! Just checked my order status and it says SHIPPED!!! OMG OMG IM SO EXCITED! I do have 1 day shipping, so if they shipped it this morning or afternoon I should get it tomorrow. If not ill get it on Friday. So far the tracking number hasnt been updated but on the invoice it says they shipped via Fedex 1 Day. OMG Cant wait!

I just ordered my M15x on the 25th from AAFES. They said the order won't be shipped till the 10th of Feb. I am hoping that it ships earlier than that. Just recently sold my other laptop and good desktop to purchase it, so I can't wait, hehe.

I will upgrade to a solid state when they are cheaper.

I debated for a while between the 17 and 15, ultimatley decided to go with the 15 because of the price.

So Dell is sending me a brand new M15x after just one call complaining that my computer keeps breaking on me after the tech guy comes. Hopefully this one wont mess up either.

hey soccerthierry, how long after it said "shipped" did u get your laptop? couple of days? I'm hoping it's as fast as the extra accessories the guy threw in, cuz i received them the next working day ( ordered friday night, received them monday morning).

 

Since it got buried a page or two ago, i'll just quote this and see if anyone has got any feedback about it.

 

I'm just wondering, but is anyone dissapointed with their M15x? Im kinda wishing I ordered the 17". I think I might wait till the 15 gets here and then decide.

 

Do you think quasar yellow and black is a good match. I have never seen it but everyone has the white backlit (Apples, Sonys, Asus) or blue backlit. With Alienwares red is so common.

At first kinda wished i got the M17x Refresh but really, after my M15x came in, i couldn't be happier. Honestly, if you want pure power and don't care about lugging it around go ahead and get a M17x. Otherwise the M15x is more than enough to run just about anything and isn't that bad to take around with you. I take mine where ever i go since i'm rarely at home so this is perfect for me.

Also, if yours has issues with throttling there's a fix for that too so it's no biggie.

 

ya, thats what im thinkin', I will get it and it will be perfect, just what I need. I am hoping that we will be able to upgrade the gpu sometime in the future though, I don't want to be buying another one in a year.

 

I don't think you can be disappointed with either. Sure, other people in these forums may make you feel inferior because they have BEASTLY configurations, but the truth of the matter is that these computers are more than sufficient to play any game, multitask, show off, etc.

I guess its easier to replace a processor than the optical drive in this machine.

you do know that its just a preset lighting scheme and you can change it to different colors, even have rainbow lighting.

I know it is kind of sacrilegious to not game on this but mainly I'm getting this laptop because I need the power for VM's.
I'll still have a spare harddrve with Win7 installed to change the lighting and play some games every once in a wile.
But I think installing Gentoo Linux on it is the best way to get all the power out of the Quad Core i7. That way I'll have
all my software compiled for the Quad Core i7 CPU. It also seems that OpenSolaris is a vary good OS to make use of the
Core i7 micro-architecture and Turbo Boost.

 

for me i love green and the blue is nice. rite now i have it set to go into a cycle, changing colors automatically.

 

Wow! I woke up today and found my order has moved into the "shipped" phase! I only ordered it on wednesday. There is one small issue however. The tracking number that I have been sent is not recognised... Is this normal? It literally just moved through to "shipped" so I'm hoping it'll clear up soon.

Can anyone from the UK give me a delivery time? Like, the number of days from "shipped" to delivery? Would be very grateful.

 

I received an email saying it shipped on the 23, and on the 26 I had a call from purolator saying that a package for me would arrive the day after, and it did!
It arrived one day before ETA :O

WOOT its FINALLY in the "Delivery Preperation" Stage after two longgggggg weeks! i can't wait to run my machine through some serious tests and see its performance first-hand

 

Don't think anyone has touched on this in this thread, but with the config in my signature, you can run Mass Effect 2 fully maxed with no slowdowns whatsoever. It's also probably the best looking game I have ever played, yes better than Crysis methinks.

 

no you can't with that config all maxed out you get like 23 frames to bad but if you set 1920x1080 and everything else normal you get like 35 frames is good enough for me

 

forget to mention i try the 920xm cpu on the m15x and you get like 5 frames more on every game but that cpu runs hot on m15x

Gah Fedex delayed my overnight shipping and now its scheduled to arrive on Friday. I wont be home from 9 till 11, so hopefully it will arrive before or after 11

 

Ok, on the Dell site it says my order is "Shipped" and on the UPS site it says "Shipped/Billed On: 02/02/2010"... What the??? Can anybody explain please?
