if you ordered already, call customer support tell them you need it expedited and ask for the free shipping upgrade, if they don't already offer it to you.

you'd should of seen me when i'd called to order my M15x, made the guy wait on hold for almost an hour, pretending i had to think about the price he gave me. lol

 

Oh yeah I did that too with the customer rep before the most recent. He only offered $50 off so I was like " that's still so much above my budget, can't you just drop it like $200?" haha , the best I got out of the most recent though is $100, I guess that's good. I'll try the free shipping thouhg. Should I do it now since I just ordered or wait a couple days?

Free stuff, discount and expedited shipping is the goal.

Has anyone asked a rep why we can't order the m15x with a 260 and dual core i3/5/7 ? So far you can only order it with the quads, but I'm pretty strapped for cash and would rather get the 260M and a dual core proc, then upgrade it myself later on.

 

m17x has eyefinity up to 3 displays just sayin, also about same size very close on measurements and only weighs a couple pounds more.

Yeah I got expedited shipping. I couldn't help but start laughing at the tech support guy heavy Indian accent and claimed his name was John even though I swear I heard his colleague yelled Ashwin next to him. I gave up after 15 min but got expedited shipping.. I asked for a free mouse(no), free mouse pad (no), free warranty upgrade(no) unless i canceled and reordered but I think they were assuming I would pay for it, free 24 inch monitor (no) and finally I asked if they would throw in a free m15x just in case this one breaks I would have an extra one handy lolz and he just went silent.

 

rofl, that so funny. well at least you got something out of it. just to let you know, they do gave you a free mouse pad and a real fugly alienware hat.lol
also make sure when you receive it, it should also come with a displayport to hdmi converter cable.

5150Joker how much did that m17x set u back I was configuring and I already reached over 2500 without SSD and 720QM. I really want EYEFINITY can u do eyefinity with the 4870? Also will eyefinity work with 3 HannsG 28" monitors?

 

I haven't looked into eyefinity, I think that's a 5000 series feature though. The M17x has 3 video outputs though: HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA. I don't know if you can use all 3 at once. The price on my system is a secret, lets just say I got far below what you see on the Dell site.

 

Please share! Also can you have 2 display outs on the m15x ?

They canceled my order because I didn't answer the phone at 6AM. I spent over an hr on the phone just to get some lady that said. "Owe I called you didn't answer so I canceled your order." Why have on-line sales if they don't really sell stuff on-line? By the time I was really talking to someone I just wanted to get off the phone and didn't ask for any deal... stupid me. I should have been complaining about how I got my call dropped 2 times.

I think I'll call back in an hr or two after I eat. Hell, I guess I should at lest get the 10% off for a student discount? I take it that all college students get 10% form dell? I'll also start saying how I need it NOW for school and see if I can get mine shipped in 4days too LOL. I want to call again anyway I think I may have messed up on the shipping address. Yey well i got my m15x this morning and been playing with it all day. This machine is amazing!!!! So far Ive played around with the FX, the camera, and some other stuff. I did try to play Call of Duty modern warfare 2, and it runs like a piece of cake on max settings. Also tried BFBC2 beta , runs like a cake too Next im going to try and run mass effect 2 on max setting!

Got my Fan issue resolved today. Had called them yesterday around 4PM and the local rep called me today at 3 saying my parts have arrived and he can come over to install them. Arrived at 5 pm and opened the case

Found out the the GPU fan screws were loose causing the whole fan to vibrate (and the case as well). He told me that my lappy had one of the previous fan models (slightly higher RPM's). When I played a couple of games, the fans went into high RPM mode, vibrated and slowly unscrewed the holding screws. He inserted the new fan module and the clicking noise + vibration stopped.

While he was doing this, we had a small discussion about the A03 version of BIOS. He was not allowed to speak into details of what it fixed but told that the parent company (Dell) accidentally uploaded a test version of A03 on the public server and Alienware wansn't happy about it. Seems like it bricked a lot of MOBO's and this poor guy fixed at least 3 in my neighborhood (I thought I was the only one with an AW ). He says that the new bios would be available in the next coming weeks. Lets hope it fixes some of the issues that have been discussed on this forum.

I think I'll go get on the phone now to try and get that deal. The Dell web site still says my order is canceled. So, it should be easy for them to just double cancel it and reorder with the discount. I'm also going to say that I really need to get this ASAP so anything they could do to speed up my order would vary helpful.

 

Just to thought this out there for anyone wanting to know.

You CAN drive down to the FedEx place or UPS place and get your package. You don't have to wait for it to be delivered.

 

Actually you do have to wait for it, only after a failed delivery attempt, you can pick it up. Yeah its a stupid policy.

 

Just got my M15x!!! well like 3 hours ago! lol i can't put it down, this machine is just AWESOME and who said battery life sucks? its an hour im on it ( 6 cell bat) on high performance screen birghtness cranked and its telling me i have 20mins remaining.. so 1hr 20mins on high performance, installing a bunch of things, surfing web and such? pretty damn good considering the specs of this badboy.... im sure i can make it to 2hours with everything running at a bare minimum.. thats more than enough for me! when aren't you near an outlet anyways...unless you like camping? LOL

If anyone else was wondering why WoW was lagging still in dal or very hectic fights I have something that will help you out. Maybe you've already done it but it doubled my fps so here:

Go into your folder and open the config. file with wordpad. Look for the line that says:

SET processAffinityMask "3"

Change that 3 to 84. That'll have WoW use your last 3 cores and make the game run a lot smoother. I was wondering why I was getting better frames in Crysis than Wow, lol.

Also my M15x just lasts the course of 1h50m lectures when set at power saver and brightness is one notch above minimum. Nice to see a lot of you new M15x owners here!

It should come with the system without asking fot it. But i seen a few people who didn't get one, so when it comes check for it, it should be in the box with the hat and mouse pad.

The funny thing is that I like Just got my current laptop. Got it like... 3-31/2 months ago. It's a HP elitebook 8530w MobileWorkstation.
This thing Over heats like crazy CPU 96C just a 50% load for like 20mins.
+ it is only a Core 2 p8400 2.26Ghz I need a Quad Core
