yea if it doesn't bother you much you can just leave it... i noticed some flex in the upper right side of my keyboard when i got it... but after mashing down those keys to write up some papers...it fixed itself.... i heard you can always open it up yourself if you want, and bend it inwards a lil if your confident enough... personally i love getting down and dirty with my computers as i usually build my own (desktops, laptops just wayy to expensive for parts). If not, just call dell and make them deal with it. To my knowledge, i think they will have to do some minimal dissasembling... nothing to worry about...

EDIT: AM I GOING CRAZY OR IS THE FONT ON THESE FORUMS ALWAYS ITALICIZED???

yeah i did overclock awhile ago, but didn't see the need for it since the M15x already handle everything perfectly fine. so you just want to overclock the gpu? on the first page of the throttling thread is a guide to flash your gpu and use riva tuner to do the overclocking. here is a link to it. also rep joker for his hard work for all of this.

Whats better to get....an 820 processor and 500gb hard drive, or a 720 and a 256 solid state?

of course you would get more fps but nothing really amazing, and higher temps. also warranty does not cover overclocking mistakes. if you didn't flash it you will not get enough power to overclock it. if your gonna over clock it i suggest getting a good cooler also. also +rep for benching ;)

Does the M11x have an internal mic? I would prefer to purchase headphones over a headset if possible. If so, how is the quality? I want to use this machine quite a bit for Skype when traveling.

You need to get an OpenVPN account. Then you can do what ever you want on the Internet. Not only will you be tunneling all your traffic out of the country your in allowing you to play games and download torrents but OpenVPN goes over UDP so none of the TCP Load Balancing they are using on your network will work for you :D

Also, trilightzone.org is a "Secure" truly anonymous provider that doesn't keep any records. OpenVPN is a Secure VPN solution that can handle hostel networks. Trilightzone will fight in court to protect you from anyone demanding records not that they have any anyway. They also run Tor Network Super Nodes on all there servers and they run their own DNS servers so your traffic gets lost in the shuffle if anyone is doing packet timing on your traffic.

OpenVPN will traverse firewalls no problem.

    http://www.trilightzone.org/privacysolution.html

Also, get the year account for 80 euro. Then you have unlimited bandwidth. Also, trilightzone doesn't bock any protocols.

(There are a lot of bull crap secure VPN providers but most are a rip off and block protocols, are not truly secure, and limit bandwidth. Watch out)

I think you should get the 820QM and 250GB hard drive. Then latter on get a OCZ SSD.

The 720 is plenty fast enough for me, plus I have bad experiences with OCZ service when my RAM went bad a few years back. I vowed not to do business with them again. Im also not interested in after-market upgrades...i just wanna plug, play, and be set.

I will, however, be ordering a 48 gig solid state express card drive to supplement the 256.....that way I can store my music ;)

The "man" is trying to keep me down. Damned government interwebs.

I've got the option of using the base wireless for $60 a month, but it's slower than iceskating uphill. Not really worth it.

I've been holding out this whole 6 month deployment, but my laptop came in January and I don't leave 'till March. You can imagine how hard it is to have this laptop sitting here with no access to the internet.

Atleast when I leave Iraq and land in Qatar on my way back to the states they've got free wireless. :D

Thanks for the advice though, +rep. I'm not sure bypassing the military admins is a wise decision on my part, unfortunately. :p

The Dell epp sales people suck. I called them and they gave me a price then when he enter it it came up with a higher price. He said he would check with his manger and call me back. He never called back. So I called again. This time I was told my coupon was no good bur they would give me the 50.00 plus 30.00 off. I asked to talk to a manager and he told me he would not give me any thing off the systems and that I coupon would not work. Dell realy need to work on there sales rep.

The deal I have in my sig was an old deal. With the 1 year warranty and that was only $1600 ... I had her use that same layout and asked her to give me the same deal, she said sure. Then i gave her a $50 coupon and she took $20 more off. Idk why it's the same price without the warranty...

This is what she gave me... I told her at the begining to copy my old order that had the advanced 1 year and my sig for $1600, she said ok. Gave me this at the end

still a good deal, man too many people caught on to epp, so i guess its harder to make deals now adays. since you already have a good quote, call again to see if you can beat it. man when i ordered it was so easy to make deals, got called them up and told them the specs i want and the price i want to pay for it, and told them to call me if they wanted to make the sale.

Alright... So today the dell tech came to replace my motherboard (due to the alienFX thingy broken by the new command center). Boy it was fun and heartbreaking at the same time to watch this thing being taken apart. The build quality is amazing inside and out.

Anyway, Dell did not provide him with any kind of thermal compound which I found very strange. Thanks to the good old days of building my own desktops, I had ArctiClean Step 1/2 and Thermaltake Arctic Silver 5 lying around in the house. We used it and I swear that my CPU and GPU temps are 5 degrees cooler.

Anyway, I haven't installed the new command center yet but intending to download now and see if I can manage to upgrade.

I noted a couple of interesting things in the new MOBO.
    1. It was significantly lighter in color than the original one that came with the lappy. Maybe a new PCB. There were minute changes in the circuit tracts (those microscopic lines) in certain areas of the MOBO.
    2. It came with the A03 BIOS. Wonder if it improves anything. I don't own an iPod or iPhone.

That's what keeps pulling me in........ maybe I'll try to hold out until this summer.

My laptop now just sucks, the fans broken so I'm stuck with the back cover off and it constantly being on a cooling pad. I could probably solder the wires back onto the fan that broke off, but I dont want to mess it up or short out the laptop = /

Alright inappropriate....new comp is official. Now that I have an SSD coming, you need to find me a good supplemental SSD expresscard, at least 30 gigs for my music :)

New MOBO + New command center did not help. :( . Don't have the flicker issue but sometimes the alienhead logo and power button just forget to light up. They run fine when running the testFX.exe file.

Tried repairing once, even the bios reset.

Another issue is there is no gradual dimming of the alienhead logo when system is in standby. It seems that it is missing a beat :p

Any suggestions? Or should I just go back to the previous version?

Humm... that seems to have solved the flickering issue. I just noticed that in AlienFusion there is an option called GPU settings with absolutely nothing inside it. Do you guys have something like it too?

    See attached image.

yes we all should have it, there is the little pop down menu to select power options for it. also i suggest you select the performance setting instead of balance.

Right on, OCZ dose have the best SSD on the market right now though. Also, make sure you can use TRIM on the SSD Dell gives you. If you can't uses TRIM then make sure to leave owe... 20GB unpartitioned.

15-20% Unpartitioned on any SSD that you can't use TRIM on. That includes the express card your planing to get.

SSD's are not all just as good. Most suck big balls. The only ones I would even consider buying are Intel G2's (But Intel sucks too) and OCZ.

But I don't have any option on the GPU settings tab. I have another tab called Graphics Processor where I can change the power settings of the GPU. I was wondering why I had 2 tabs.

Hi guys I just ordered mine... specs are on my sig. Cant wait to get my hands on it! Anyways can you guys give me some advice on what to do first when I use this beast for the first time? Optimizations and such....

Does anyone know if the 256GB SSD AW releasing right now has TRIM support? I dont have much knowledge when it comes to SSDs... is there anything I need to do with it to get its maximum performance? Thank you!
