anyone know ?

I suggest you contact Dell support to ask for your number
-
MX-3 is better than AS5?
-
May just have to...was hoping was somewhere else, thanks
-
I heard it is supposed to be on your invoice. I haven't checked mine yet, but will later today.
-
When I asked they same thing I was told since Dell was taking over they no longer issue a account number to sigh up for the AW support
You have to use Dell Support -
Yes
/10char -
I am not sure that is a good thing.....
-
Problem with AS5 is it take time to settle down
-
MX-3 better than ICD 24?
-
that's exactly what asked 12 posts back XD
then it became AS5 VS MX3
lol
-
AS 5 even after curing is 3-5C hotter than MX-3 and the best part is MX-3 requires little to no curing.
I don't know, they should be similar. -
fair enough joker, was just wondering if you had any experience with it as thats what i ordered to replace the stock thermal compound on the M17x when i get it.
-
I have heard that IC dries out over time, needing reapplied every year or so.
Not sure how true that is, just stating it
-
Thanks for the tip!
I'll try it on my i7 desktop. CPU is begging for new thermal paste
-
Joker can you post dissemble guide for m17x thermal paste reapply? (Pictures)
-
Moo already has a long time ago.
-
Where is it....I have a some IC Diamond wanna apply
-
Search?

Yes, I got the same result 3-5c lower on the CPU with MX-3 vs AS-5.
Also MX-3 is non-bleeding and non-conductive.
IC-X may produce better results but if reapplied often, can scratch the surfaces due to the "diamond" sand presence AFAIK. -
According to windows my second hard drive has failed.
-
for the ppl here than already have their r2's, is the part of the keyboard with all the quick launch buttons, wifi alien fx etc, supposed to be a little raised compared to the rest of the keyboard. Im trying to figure out if it's come out and needs to be pushed back in.
-
Mines not raised. Post a picture.
-
hey joker...we're you able to get stable above 3.2ghz?
edit:
ah, i see it now.
diziam! 91 watts huh? looks to be well above the proposed 55 watts intel stated. -
I updated the first post with the download for the command center.
-
Hey Joker, so did AW give the reason for the bogus bios release? Seems they've got a lot of crap and even lost a few customers for this BIG screw up!
I still don't understand how they could release something like this and not know about it...?
I originally ordered on Jan 14. Original order was canceled. Now it keeps getting pushed back, and back, and back. I might let this next push lapse
and wait till they get their crap together and possibly get the 5870's.... Or look else where.
Disgruntled
-
I have looked at command center a bit, being new to AW, does it have a real function.....I mean ok I can make a theme, and play with power settings, but well.....that it ?
-
ditto, i really want the machine and am thinking of waiting for the 5870s (after the g73 results they look promising) but i'm thinking they'll just be another set of problems. and sager just released a core i7 sli laptop. but no rgb and it's all plastic and i have credit with dell and yeah. although the g73 sounds nice i figure if the single 260 didn't satisfy me (wanted more power) then i'm not sure the g73 will satisfy me. though it is one 5870

It's not supposed to be. -

Your avatar made me pee my pants
I can't stop starring at, should I be scared?@_@ -
the touch buttons should be roughly even with the surface of the keyboard keys, though pgup/dn/home/end keys on mine are slightly lower (maybe 1mm) than the the rest of the numeric keypad.
Anybody else notice the lack of a mute button? Kinda wish it had one. -
Bought my M17x last month and it shipped to me last Wed.
Came to me without RAID 0 so I reinstalled and fixed it, but now I'm having trouble with getting good frame rates for Darkfall. Any suggestions or links I can follow for running software to check the capability of all the hardware components fairly easily? -
Do you have R1 or R2?
-
R2. Got it with Dual 4870's and RAID 0 SSD's with RGB LED screen and 6GB RAM.
-
I just decided to return the laptop. Reasons why:
My play/pause button isn't lighting up red, and nothing but pure blue and green looks correct on it.
The media center buttons are raised and are not flush, a little loose where it meets the right side of the frame.
When I opened to add a 2nd hard drive i noticed scratches inside, especially where the second drive would go and there was no adapter or bracket.
The box had no specification sheets regarding the order and I think there was a card missing form the manual.
Lastly, the express code belongs to studio xps, which was a real pain when I tried to call into tech support.
I really honestly think someone returned this because it was faulty and they added my nameplate (which was wrong, all capitals) and sent it to me after removing some components like the 2nd hd drive.
This laptop is really killer, but all these problems plus two delays and a cancellation has pushed me over the edge... -
man if we went back in time i could remember a time when people were so excited for R2 now this forums seems all doom and gloom what with the whole bios fiasco and the delays we need an ingection of fun and amazment in here stat!
-
Man, I've had mine a week and am loving it! No problems to speak of. 720 has had none of the throttling problems, and I'm really not all that interested in OCing. That said, I'm glad all these guys are putting it thru the ringer to get everything right. R2 totally rocks for gaming and just about everything else. Hope yours come in soon so you can enjoy it!
You've likely got a couple of dead LEDs for your FX lighting. Same with me for the plaque. I suspect that even tho you put caps & lowercase, they convert to all caps anyway. There's really no excuse for the scratches & fit&finish problems--did you chat with them about cross-shipping so you can enjoy while waiting for a replacement or are you just getting out of the game? -
Sounds like a refurb. In the pinch to get more systems out I have to wonder if they're trying to recycle all the stock they can in the factories, whether dell has given them the auth. to do it or not - but who knows. Maybe you got some guy on his first or last day in the factory. Hard sayin'.
-
I haven't yet talked to customer service as they are closed, but I spoke to technical support and they came to the same conclusion. The strange part about the led was it worked right when I first started it and literally an hour later it died.
I would really like to get another one, especially after seeing how it ate up mass effect 2, but I leave the states on the 18th and don't think they will ship a new one out to china for me. I literally got rid of my old laptop yesterday. I need something for work soon and considering all these delays that are pushing people back to march, I'm not sure If i can hold out that long. -
I searched and couldnt find anything on this. I cant seem to get touchpad scrolling to work on my r2. Is there a driver or something?
-
Rengsey R. H. Jr. I Never Slept
Yes, for touchpad scrolling.

Playing some original Mass Effect (never played it, holding out on ME2 until I beat it) at max settings and resolution, and seeing FPS at astronomical levels with one 4870 firing (waiting for new bios..) totally made me fall back in love with the system.
Gaming on the RGB screen is pure bliss -
Hmm still is disabled. Ohh well thanks for the link.
-
ok its in the comand center thanks.
-
These are teething pains really. The machine is just getting the tires kicked some and needing some fixes here and there. Dell has been very responsive about getting things worked out from what I'm reading. Don't think most users are unhappy with the power this machine represents.

Glad you're feeling better about the machine mate
I seem to remember ATI cards were always quite good in the PC version of Mass Effect, so the game should be happy with a bit of AA once the new BIOS is out and corrects the flickering/power management issues. -

Thanks man, yeah I just had a pretty bad freakout with the whole ordeal because of the amount of money involved, and I couldn't make a definite decision either way until the bios update was confirmed and I was able to sort out the other issues I was having.
I've never owned a computer that costed more than $2,000 before, this was double that. It's a huge hit on the wallet, just wanted to make sure I got what I paid for. I didn't exactly use rent money to pay for this thing, but lets just say I won't be making too many non-essential purchases for the remainder of the year. The m11x, of course, being essential.
When the Bios fix comes out, I'm sure I'll be all

And yeah, holy crap does Mass Effect run well on this system. The character models are so detailed, it's mind boggling.
This may sound dumb, but from my 3 hours of ME last night, the game reminded me a lot of a more RPG-like Crysis. Of course replacing an island with the galaxy. -
ME is my favorite game of all times.
You can imagine how much i want my AW to arrive so i can finally play ME2 -
once i get mine im going to play threw ME again then ME2 then both bioshocks then empire totalt war then crysis! And anything else since ill be in the desert i should have plenty of time!
