    @Skook9

Your Blackberry has a SIM so when you travel globally you can operate on the Vodophone GSM network. However when you are domestic in the US the SIM is not, and can not be used, you use the CDMA radio only. Inserting your BB Sim into this laptop will do nothing for you, unless your out of the US.

Bottom line here is integrated Gobi for Verizon = Buy data plan
Integrated Gobi for AT&T = No Iphone SIM (unless you are lucky enough to convince AT&T to unlock it)

I am the IT operations Manager for my company and cell phone/Data Cards are something I deal with on a daily basis. We have hundreds of Iphones and I have yet to EVER get AT&T to agree to unlock thier SIM even on first gen out of contract Iphones.

Just ordered, total system after DPA discount is going to be about $800.

Such a good price, those discounts helped a lot.

Apparently, you get to customize the alien crest symbol on the lid with all sorts of options:
    Alienhead 3D add $0
    Alienhead Glow add $0
    Alienhead Chrome Blue add $0
    Alien Cyborg add $0
    Alien Schematic [Included in Price]
    Alienhead Chrome Red add $0
    Alien Red Glyphs add $0
    Alienhead Flat add $0
    Alienware Logo add $0

What the heck is the difference? Is this something you can change after you get the laptop? Does anyone have actual pictures of these?

It's not the Alien head on the lid of the laptop. They are wallpaper's / avatar's for windows 7.

    @jonjonk
It's something that they customize it for you. It's not the lid, but the avatar and the wallpaper. You get everything, but as Alienware is a pricy brand, they make sure you get 'customized' stuff :p

Basically they try to make your laptop as prettily presentable to you when you first open it :p

You're not altering the Alien logo: the Glow and Chrome Blue are the colors that will be used at first. You can change all of these options.

or you can use tetherberry..works with any blackberry model as long as you have a data plan. The only thing is if you use too much data the cell phone company will catch on and charge you $$$$. From what I've heard as long as you keep up under 5gb a month you're good. I tether my blackberry, but only use it for browsing a few forums so I never use too much data. So far so good.

So since nobody answered(probably due to how quickly it moved in this post) b4, I'll ask it again.

If you order the Wan+GPS, can you use the GPS without having a data plan? As in, could I still use the GPS with MS Streets?

They might have fixed this, they usually do thier best to get rid of stackable coupons or it might be an error they are intending to fix so you can still purchase it via the website but not by phone. I highly doubt they intended people to stack coupons and save 25-30% off the cost of a brand new product just being released. So if it's still working definnitely should take advantage of it while you can.

question: in the Bios under SATA: AHCI

what does that mean? A quick google search shows there could be AHCI or ATA or in other cases RAID. I know what raid is but it's not gonna be applicable here. So what's diff b/t ATA or AHCI. I ask b/c HH review says "One aspect of note is that the default SATA option is set to AHCI." Why is that important? I'll be getting mine with SSD if that matters.

Not entirely sure on the Gobi Card Starstreak, but on the Sprint/Verizon integrated cards that support GPS, its using a combination of A-GPS triangulating on Cell towers and full GPS with Satellites. In both cases, unless the data card is active (on the network), GPS doesn't work.

I had Iphone for 2-3 years (Since it first came out) and I recently switched to Nexus One, the new Google droid phone and the thing is freaking awesome LOL It blows away my Iphone in pretty much every aspect. The only thing Iphone has going for it is more games but alot of the good games are on android as well and I don't play games too much on my phone because the battery dies so fast when gaming so it's not a huge loss.

The Nexus is supposed ot be getting Flash 10.1 so we will be able to watch Hulu movies and TV series on it as well! Can't wait.

Kind of off topic, but Hulu's servers have disabled mobile devices from viewing their content. Even with the update you wont be able to.

My Windows Mobile Phone was capable of watching Hulu, but they just recently disabled it. However, Youtube will work...

My friend also says the Droid is lightening fast too. Her husband was looking up gps directions for some place and it was already processing with his phone (LG Versa?) and she got tired of waiting so she looked it up on the Droid and got the directions before he did. :D

Bored so reading about the Samsung 256GB SSD that I should be receiving in my M11x.

Who was the guy that was crazy bashing it? It was a damn while back. Anyway after seeing this from Tom's Hardware, it made me feel really good. Basically it's just behind the intel ones. Scroll through the pages, mostly images of benchmarks and tests and it shows the Samsung 256GB SSD to be very good. I'm so excited, my first SSD

    Tom's Hardware Samsung 256GB SSD

Correct me if I'm wrong though, but I believe this is the drive that Dell has been shipping for their 256GB SSD. Anyway, hope this helps anyone on the fence about getting an SSD. I know this is only one review, but whatever. I'm set.

Hi Everyone, I was looking into getting an m11x since it was announced. I was about to pick up the often discussed $767.10 configuration this evening (EPP Discount + $50 off + $100/1000) and when I came back, the coupons stopped stacking. I know someone further up mentioned a friend was calling Dell to try and get both applied again- any news on whether this works or not? Has Dell ever done anything like that for other deals? 815 after taxes was sounding really good...

Since I'm finally happy with my order and price - having canceled twice now.. This is my third order should be the real deal =) And here it is.

Ordered this morning, Feb. 3, 2010, est delivery via free 5-7 day delivery March 8, 2010.

Bolded are things worth reading haha and deleted the extra crap. Time to play the reading and waiting game. So glad I opted to get the SSD, and with the discounts etc, it's basically like I paid for a 500GB 7200RPM or something lol.

also to add, I'm glad I ordered hastily, those coupons and my uber discount pwned.

I never got a confirmation email though since Dell's email system has been down today for a bit but he gave me the order # and my customer # which shows it on the status page so seems like its good to go. It's in production now it says. This is without tax and etc.

Is anyone having problems applying both epp $50 discount and the $100 discount? It won't let me do both.
