Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. Do you have to get anything else to make it work or do you just talk to your cell provider?

Welp, just submitted my order with the su7300, 250gb hd, and 4gb of ram. Base cost after discounts and such was 767, but washington state tax destroyed me by adding 82$ on top of that. Oh wells, not that bad.

On my three orders, they took about 3-5 hours. I ordered one last night (canceled) but it was around 6PM EST and it went about 9 or 10PM EST. Make sure you've clicked into the order status though, b/c one screen out it will say order processing, but a more in-depth status will show order processing to in production. Story I can't really describe what I mean.

    basically on this link:

    http://support.dell.com/support/ord...gen&order_number=xxxxxxxxx&validate=aaaaaaaaa

where it is x enter in your order number
    a = customer number

that's the page I"m talkin about. If that's what you're on, then ignore me =) have you been charged?

I decided to resubmit my order to get the $100 off.

    Subtotal: $1,094.00
    Dell EPP 10%: -$109.40
    Dell EPP $50: -$50
    Dell EPP $100 for over $1,000: -$100

    Subtotal: $834.60
    Shipping: $16.00
    Tax: $51.04

    Total: $901.64

I'm going to get the DPA 3% off tonight. Does anyone know if you can pay off the DPA with a credit card?

I know it is overkill but, I looked around on the net a lot and couldn't find an 8gig kit of ram for a better price than 350. Plus when i factored in the 10% off for being a student and the 50$ and 100$ coupons it just felt right! :D

Droid is wow. Pretty much sums it up.

As for tethering, Verizon is going to be offering a tethering service sometime this year, but it will cost money.

It is harder to get caught then you think, Especially on ATT, because some apps made for the iPhone are 60+MB's, therefore iPhones generally use alot more traffic, however as I said in my other post, if your torrenting you will get caught, if your just surfing the web and checking email, a game now and then, you should be fine.

One of my friend's has the Droid and she LOVES it!! She had wanted the iphone but now she doesn't. I don't really play games online but I do watch shows online (like from nbc and abc and sometimes from dailymotion) and of course websurfing and emailing. I'm not sure what torrenting is. Is watching shows online like torrenting?

EDIT: id love to see the face of the guy at inland revenue when he comes across a VAT claim for an "alienware gaming laptop" .... priceless !

I thought we went over this. You can still use vmware and likely other virtualization options, not only that but I've found vmware can be faster than xp mode: http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/doc/intro_hostreq_ws.html

You only lose SOME virtualization programs like sun's virtualbox, which relies on processor VT-x and not only that, upgrading to windows 7 business for windows xp mode costs another $130 or something.

So basically, choosing only the core 2 duo option on an otherwise stock build of an m11x takes away virtualbox and 1mb of cache.

    Shipping predictions for the M11x:

    1. I predict a soft start to shipping (slow out of the gate by design)
    2. The units that "leak" out to customers will be for feedback in case of unforseen problems that only larger statistical samples ever seem to pick-up (the power of multiple perspectives).
    3. Some could ship as early as next week.
    4. The flood will start once Alienware and Dell are comfortable the feedback is within the norm.
    5. The sales are going to be HUGE and surprise even Alienware / Dell.

By summer, we will see several "clones" of the M11x device /segment by other companies (competition is good).

Oh come on now, you need to be more clear and realize more what you are saying.

Yes it is still speculation whether the su4100 will overclock, the only HARD EVIDENCE we have of overclocking is in the bios of a review that of course had the su7300.

That said, if you cant overclock the su4100, it comes down to dell being DEVIOUS by punishing those who dont buy the upgrade. Not only is this ineffective and a waste of Dell's time, but they never tried to entice you during the purchase process to get the higher processor in order to overclock, and if they had done that THEN AND ONLY THEN would it make logical sense dell would remove the feature for the pentium.

Now this is mainly why I chose to post, IF THE SU4100 can overclock, it will certainly see the same levels of improvement as the su7300. the only difference between these processors is the 1mb of cache! That will make the same 2-3% difference at 1.6ghz as it does at 1.3ghz.

I hate to beat a dead horse and seem like i'm living in denial about it, but it still cant be confirmed with anything a rep says because absolutely of course they will tell you that in answer to that specific question when it nets them an extra $100, they are trained to do such things.

It will never be certain that the 4100 cant overclock until someone gets their hands on one, although I fully understand you not wanting to take the risk.

I posted earlier saying that I spoke to a Senior Rep(aka the manager of the other rep's) and she told me that they brought an m11x to the office and they got to hold them / play with them. Now maybe those rep's who are saying it can't OC played with the m11x's? Or they could be BSing. Who knows.
