Do you guys cover up your Dell, HP, Gateway, Acer, Lenovo, IBM, eMachine, Apple, etc logos?![]()

how'd ya find out?
build stage is good progress. -
If someone is ashamed of Alienware, maybe they shouldn't buy one?
-
i guess. i went through 2 reps and both gave me some amount of discounts. however, another buyer seem to get RM68 extra than what i've got. probably you should go through like 5 reps?
-

I personally wouldn't care if I brought this in to a business meeting or something but that is a classic, overly repeated complaint of alienware is the flashiness.
You'd think people could just turn off the lighting and call it a day but yeah, they still b&m about it. -
I have all day anyway. Will probably go through like the phone reps and then some online chaps too.

AHHHH IM IN THE BUILD STAGE!
yes -
I know my order number by heart from dialing it in so many times.
It's kind of sad. -

i have some information for you you may want to write down. Your laptop is currently *pause* in production *pause* and is currently in the *pause* build stage *pause* Have a nice day.
-
Lucky buggah. But congrats nevertheless. Hoping I don't get held up by the massive preorder line...
-
I'd love to have a little alien head on my laptop, but I can understand someone wanting the power of the M11x and not the design (although I definitely don't agree with it). But I've covered up the Apple on the back of my laptop with an OK Go sticker for a while. I like giving my possessions a bit of a personal touch.
I'll probably throw some stickers on my M11x, but the nameplate and custom lighting combo is the ultimate personalization.
-
Waaat?! Lucky! I'm still in pre-production! What day did you order?
-
It's not that I don't believe you, I just really would like to have a SSD
Intel and OCZ do have better drives but the SAMSUNG is the only option offered on the order page.
Only other option is installing a SSD yourself(easy)..... but last thing I want to do is install a OS and drivers.
When I get a new laptop(first AW
) first thing I want to do is try gaming on it and see what it could do.
SAMSUNG SSD is expensive and might not be as good as the others but the link did show it performs decently plus I like the idea of a silent drive. -
do lemme know what kinda discounts you got, mate. mine still stuck at the 'order received' stage. placed the order on wednesday. shall place a request to expedite tomorrow.
-
cool, did the 4-2-1-1 and I'm in build stage =D
-
<--in the "build stage"
-
I am a man on a mission. Objective: Discounts. Failure shall not be tolerated.
Lol.
-
Am I to assume that we're all still at Pre-Production?
-
edited:
objective: discounts MORE than 5%/RM200.
-
Some are "in production" but I'm still in pre-production. This thread is a handy key to use. It lists the pre-production stage.
-
If i can manage to get enough of a discount to get 4GB RAM free I shall be grinning all day.
Like those smileys
Maybe throw a "ahem" TactX thingy in. XP
-
Pre-Production here

I've got one at work and it is amazing for the money. -
get the RM3999 configuration straightaway instead of upgrading (CPU, HDD & RAM) from the RM3499 btw.
damn i should have asked for the TactX mouse too.
-
anybody got any hustle tips that were not stated in (i forget his username's :S) topic?
-
Actually, upgrading to 4GB, SU7300 and leaving the HDD standard leaves me at RM3934.
EDIT: Where is that option?!?!? I want ~_~ Can you give me the product catalogue number?
EDIT AGAIN: Nvm found it. Awesome tip mate. -
Dan? Nope, short of calling at lunch time. XP
-
In Production, Build stage, Still March 1st estimated date
-
Mine just changed to the build stage! Huzzah!
-
I am in the "build" stage, I am confused on how we are not receiving our laptops for one month, yet they are already being built, what do they do, come in each day, install one part, then leave? Confused as to how this is going to be a month long process.
-
lol when she says "I have some information for you that you may want to write down" i always hold my breath... I feel like its bad news approaching.
-
Nooooo! still pre-production!!
-
The system will place it in the build stage even if it's missing parts. Some people have been stuck in "Build" for months before.
-
Go back a page or so and read the wiki on the dell statuses that they give you. It explains it all.
-
Possibly because it's not really being built. They have the parts ready, but no bodies to start building it. It could also be because the actual release date isn't until March 1st. Even if it is built, they may hold them until March 1st. I'm just guessing here, but these are "pre-orders" and it has been stated that March 1st is the release date.
-
Darkhan or resident AW expert has stated that the M11x only outputs to 720p so it might be a waste.
Still a great monitor. -
Darkhan thought it only output to 720p but HDMI outputs 1080p by default (edit: meaning there is no restriction to HDMI output).
I wonder if Darkhan could ask the lead designer this.
-
What's up with that? Most output video isn't that limited to resolution. So you're saying that you'll only be able to use a 1366x768 resolution on an external monitor too?
-
That's unheard of that HDMI output on any modern laptop would be limited to 720p.
-
assuming you're taking the RM3499 as base and upgrade the CPU, HDD & RAM, it will bring up the total amount to RM4175.
hence, RM3999 is the better option. i wasn't aware of that too until a kind forummer informed me. gotta revise my order and was delayed for a day for that.
-
Found it. Funny how Dell chooses to "hide" those deals. Aaaanyways, time to besiege a poor rep tomorrow.
Pay RM60 to upgrade your HDD to 500GB. Funny.
-
Not that I doubt Dark's thoughts on video output, but the 335 is capable of much higher resolutions, and it will be able to output far-higher resolutions via HDMI or display port..... it just probably wont game at the higher settings smoothly.
-
I don't think so.... The maximum resolution is 2560x1600 at least for the graphics card. I can't imagine the hdmi port not displaying full 1080p since that is a standard.
-
hmmm thats an interesting statement for us in the UK. as about the only thing bar HD and Memmory we could change/have was the case colour, everything else is included/no option to change/have, so hopefully the anntena will be there,
-
Thank you. Those were my thoughts exactly. On the built-in screen it's limited to 720p obviously, otherwise, 1080p should be no issue through HDMI or VGA.
-
I have a question about the battery, guys
Anyone have an idea how to have the good battery-life span?
because we cannot remove the battery out when we are plugged-in, I wonder if the battery will really last long if we plug in so often? -
Eggs Scrambled Notebook Evangelist
Honestly, the samsung is fine as long as you know what you're getting into. That's all the point I really wanted to get across, that there are options and the samsung isnt as good as its price would have you believe. As long as you're aware, I'm happy!
Besides as much as I hate to admit it, the samsung has a size advantage and that's always nice. I just hate when I see manufacturers being lazy is all.
Honestly, just try not to think about it. Check the order status line once a day or so, and you could be surprised rather soon. Don't get your hopes up because Dell has no timeframe to follow except that march date, and they could even delay that. Being in the build phase, which means you must have ordered 2/2 or maybe 2/3 we'll be getting the first ones off the line anyway.
Honestly, as much as this is a possibility that they may not have the parts together that is wholly unbelievable in my opinion. Especially since we're the first ones to get it, kinda like I said before it's not like we're being demoted in favor of anyone else, if they have the parts they'll build it for us and I personally can't imagine they're getting like 1 or 2 covers built a day or something, they must have some stock ready to go and that'll be for us.
The whole chinese new year thing is a whole other ballpark though.
Don't worry, it'll output 1080p if your monitor supports it for sure. especially with a standard nvidia card its windows that see the monitor and tells the general subsystem of the laptop that's built to support windows what resolutions to offer with the given monitor.
Absolutely 100% this laptop will support at the very least 1080p and probably even more depending on the monitor. It's just how it works. -
This thread, again, is getting too big with all the *related* questions to m11x such as the technical debate on SSD etc. We'll need a part 3 soon :s There's less and less proportion of highly related m11x stuff in this thread :s A one-page discussion on those stuff are useful, but not 5-10 pages >.< Might as well make a new thread =\ too much stuff I wish I can just skip -.-

unlike any other laptop I've ever seen before, this one has a quick function key shortcut to turn off charging the battery. Use that religiously when you're plugged in, and plug in whenever it's convenient and I guarantee outside of any manufacturing problems that you'll have a long healthy lifespan for the battery.
Worse comes to worst you'll just have to plunk down $100 to dell and get a replacement anyway, and you'll still be able to use the laptop plugged in in the meantime, justify that by the extremely low entry price for this beauty. -
@eggs = LOL
@vincent = LOL
@banana = Same here, no option to change much, not even bluetooth. Wish the antennae is in there.
