Who knows about those games? I played Starcraft II a year and a half ago at PAX 2008, and it's STILL not out...

And just think, there's still 3 more weeks before we get these. It's gonna be a really long thread by then, lol.

No, dont start a part 3 until people receive the stupid thing. seriously.

We dont need three threads full of nonsense.

The first OWNER who RECEIVES the laptop should create Part 3, please.

^ I agree, but unfortunately I think it depends on how large the moderators think a thread should be before interfering with the overall performance of the forums.

Therefore, we might see a part 3 soon.

you must have in mind that those games are DESIGNED to be played in those devices, so the interface is already small screen friendly... PC games are not designed for netbooks...

Well if Qualcomm releases an upgraded Gobi card, it will be super easy to install if you configured your M11x with the original Gobi.

As someone who moderates other forums, I think you will find that new part threads are created when the performance begings to suffer; as the other guy said. ;)

Anyways, I cant believe how much of a buzz is being created here over this new lappy. Seems to have set the ofrums on fire. :D

    Modern Warfare 2:

Gigabyte M1305 in this game resolution set to 1680 × 1050 (of course, after the base connected to the Docking), the anti-aliasing is set to off.

it gets 22-24 FPS in 1680x1050, is that a good result?? how much M11x get with those settings?

I guess it makes sense to write a small test plan. What games run, benchmarks, on what settings. Then the person who first received this netbook, follow this plan and made a real FAQ on the basis of the real thing.

    6 inch for DS/PSP?
multiply the ratio of the screen size of m11x to the DS/PSP by 6 inch then :D

To me it's just funny seeing alienware coming out with a netbook.
I got pulled in for one. And confused a bunch of my nerdy friends too :D

    But I got prescription :(

Well you added another post :p

EDIT: I shall learn to multi-quote. Can a mod help delete my other posts below? [if they can find this post in the first place -.-]

don't forget the pc game are way more complex then games on ds and psp..

    i played L4D/ Cod4 on my old 1201n eee pc 12"
and the experience was ok in the first 15 min then.. i just think it is too small.

m11x can't do 1680x1050. It can only do 720p (i think its 1366x768), that in and of itself should help the m11x's FPS.

True, but again with the old argument you don't buy a 11" laptop to play a full size screen game :D Good for people like me who just can't stop moving but wants a laptop on his hands all the time including to work @ daytime and to play games at night :D [I spent 4 years of college carrying a 5kg 17" to nearly every single one of my classes, and 6-7kg m17x is going to make me short soon ^^ I could use a lighter laptop :D]

My point is, by reading this forum that there are several people that are really into this machine for the very fact that it can play games. I don't think people that want to play games on it or going in blind and therefore, don't mind the small screen.

eyyyyyyyyyyy -_- yeah it should be possible. keyboard light I'm 90% sure, speakers 100%. I use XPS and I never turn on the lights cos I bring it to my classes all the time.

I want it to light up tho... ^^

I can not speak for those who have never used a 11.6" or smaller, but as for myself, I most certinly can game on a screen that size... I've logged many hours in LoTRO on my 12" HP and many more hours with lesser games on my old 9" EEE.

complain all you want about the small screen, but that is one thing I really look forward to in my portable laptops.

Yes FN+ one of the keys turns off the lights I think. I personally would turn of the alienware / speaker lights and just leave a backlit keyboard as either red or white or blue.

Since I don't think I want to sit in my 200 person Finance class with an Alienware symbol and speakers lighting up. Which makes you look unprofessional and like a dork.

Only reason I even like the lights is because of the backlit keyboard since I was going to purchase an MBP which has a backlit keyboard.

If Fn+ doesn't work, the AlienFX software will.
I'm not fond of lighted speakers, but it's not bad to have lighted keyboards if the professor's doing presentations and darken the lights [or is it? it's not that 'dorky' right?]

With regards to games being more complex on the computer vs DS and PSP...

The ratio the games are made in i.e., 16:9 is just rendered the same way to a smaller screen. If the hardware is in the machine to play the game there is nothing more complex about the game.

Hi, guys. I don't post much here, but I thought this was cool enough to share.

I entered my email address on the Alienware site a few weeks back to be notified when the M11x became available and in doing so was also added into the sweepstakes to win one. I received an email from the Dell corporate office advising me I was the 4th winner.

I have never won anything in my life, let alone something this cool.

I called the rep who emailed me and he advised me they are upping some of the specs so I will be receiving the $999 model with the upgraded CPU, 4gb of ram and 250gb HD.

I'm pretty stoked and promise to post a full review when I get it.

The backlit keyboard is perfectly fine if the professor darkens the lights as long it isn't super bright. I have friends who uses the MBP backlit keyboard and it looks nice in a dark room.

The Alienware symbol / speaker lights is definitely a big no unless you want to project the dork/geek image to people sitting around you / behind you. Trust me it won't get you any girls.

yes, m11x is not meant to replace full size gaming laptop or a desktop, but it's good enough for occasional gaming and obviously travel.

To be honest, I considered every option and it was either get 2 laptops: 1 big one (N61JQ-A1) and 1 cheap netbook ($300), but that meant to pay about $1500 vs just getting M11x for $850 that satisfies the best of two worlds. Has gaming power and portability. I am not a serious gamer, but when I want to play I want to have power, so there is nothing better then m11x at the moment, especially considering the price point.

I was told that after I send my notarized claim info, he would put in the order and provide me with tracking info. I'm guessing the first week or so in March.

I get to choose the color (black) and get the personalized name plate.

How do I compare the gt 335m to desktop video cards? Is there a site out there that might have this info. I've been looking forward to playing Assassin's Creed 2 for a while now and it comes out in march (for the PC)...just wondering if I'll be able to play on the m11x.
