@abuse
Thanks man. I've only had experience with wireless mice and the bugging usb reciever is 2 inches long. I would want to semi-permanently leave it in there and that's not feasible with something that big. I guess I should do more research before I draw conclusions.
-
-
You won't want to just install it in the motherboard if you've never had any experience with computer equipment. This USB Bluetooth dongle is perfect if you really want Bluetooth on your laptop but you don't want some huge thing sticking out of the side. It's got a great range, too.
-
they may still include bluetooth for the ones who missed. Give them a call.
-
sweet, thanks ceolwulf.
I'm excited to see how Heroes of Newerth runs on the M11x. It's not too demanding so hopefully I can max everything out.
btw, ceolwulf, my girlfriend is excited about the pokemon releases too! It's going to be awsome how we both might get the M11x and the new games within the same week, hahaha.
Off to bed~ -
Yeah me and my girlfriend are getting HG/SS so we can play together. It's going to rock! And hopefully the M11x will come sooner than that.
-
@klas
I tried calling twice and just gave up. I did do a bit of haggling, because it wasn't our fault Dell made errors, but it was a no go. That's where the rep was kind enough to put in the internal request to expedite my order. he said that I would have had to cancel/reorder. eh.
and now it's in the build stage so game over. well.. not really.. I'll just use a usb dongle. -
Any new reviews out other then hardwareheaven and ign?
-
@The_A33a33in
You should check out the Logitech Performance MX mouse. Its a great mouse, and tiny usb blue tooth reciever. Granted it's more expensive and a larger mouse. I have it and it works great. -
Or you can have alook at the Rozor Orachi
its a bluetooth so you can use the internal blue tooth, and also when you want some serious FPS shooting and need the high DPI you can plug in a cable
-
have scanned the thread chaps but has anyone actually got one yet?
Question I have is that will this laptop run on airline power whilst playing games? I've got a clevo machine but its too much for the airline power.
Neil. -
@matutu: does the razor have a tilt wheel? I really want a mouse with tilt wheel as it is a HUGE help when switching between desktops in linux.
-
nope mcrae. Nobody's got it yet, contrary to the hype around here.
-
It should run on airline power I assume as I don't believe it will be drawing too many watts, unlike the larger alienware models. And to answer your first question, no one has recieved the M11X yet. All have currently placed orders and are still in the pre-production phase. Estimated delivery dates are in the next week or two.
-
nooooooooo my uk est date jsut changed from 12/2 to 1/3 !!! dam you dell
-
To be honest I ordered the mouse when i ordered my new M11, it came a few days ago and apart from checking it over i have not had a good look at it so cant tell you.
Full specs are here though. http://cult.razerzone.com/2009/08/13/available-now-the-razer-orochi-bluetooth-gaming-mouse/
Hope it helps. -
Order status posts here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5857457#post5857457
Don't want to overclutter this thread. Thanks -
As Nuke mentioned, please use the order status thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=456131) for all order status related posts.
Thanks for getting the word out everyone! -
no. the wheel is just a single click button. there are 2 buttons on each side though to make up for it.
-
For most computers you can only use the two buttons on the left side. The two on the right side are for DPI only.
I've had the mouse since October, and it's a really good mouse. It eats batteries like no tomorrow, but I get them for cheap so /shrug.
Pairing it with Windows 7 is fun. When you pair it, make sure you right click the device and select the option for HID device, else it will just lock up and not pair.
I use this and the Mamba on a daily basis, though the Mamba has been somewhere on the floor as of late, the Orochi is nice when you get used to it's size. -
mine always pairs with no problems. i thought you could change all the buttons in the software, oh well
-
It's hit and miss for me. Windows and bluetooth is a nightmare. I use Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
-
no problems with Win7 and Orochi. Once it first paired, never had to mess with anything else again. Just turn on the mouse and turn on BT on comp and it pairs in a few seconds. Boom. Also yeah the Razer Orochi drivers lets you map all the buttons on the mouse including all four side buttons to whatever you want. The opposite thumb buttons are good for MMO's or mapped to something not needed in a quick pinch.

The Apple store is off line.. Looks like it is happening.

heavyharmonies Notebook Evangelist
Could we PLEASE relegate the crApple talk to another thread? This one is supposed to be about the M11x.
Thank you. -
If the m11x came with this I'd say it'll make an awesome machine even more awesome.
-
Holy...do you guys even sleep? lol
-
jonk its actually quarter past ten at night for me. I do sleep.

@nuke737
I wonder how that compares to Asus's UL30JT automatic graphics switching. Unless Asus will be using this
edit: didn't read the full article. It mentions some of Asus' laptops to be the first using this technology but doesn't mention the UL30JT .. hmmm .. one would only assume this is what's delaying specs on Asus since Nvidia didn't announce the technology yet
-
I keep forgetting that this forum has worldwide users. It's currently 9.18am over here.
-
Like engadget said, its fancy and spanking awesome but still has lots of kinks to work out. Imagine you boot up BC2 beta and the nvidia profile hasn't been updated yet, you'll have to manually change it too. Probably will be in the next m11x rev with the ulv ix cores. The curse of early adopters
-
@jonk = I know, thats why the forum explodes every 12 hours instead of 24.
Did you get an m11x?
-
@nuke
Yea, I got one. It's basic specs with the SU4100, 4GB ram, 160GB HDD, and no bluetooth (I don't have any blue gears). Since I delayed my order, I missed out on the stack-able coupons though. Could have saved an extra $50 on my end. By the way, how much is the thing in Malaysia? 4000rm? -
I'm not too sure about the auto gpu switching unless they have an option to turn it off completely. I've got more control with a quick flick of a switch/button and can customize battery life appropriately. Flash for an example should run fine on the integrated iX so why should I need discrete [for example].
-
@impruv
Exactly! There is room for lots of errors on the computer end if it was auto. Also, wouldn't auto switching waste more battery life? The computer needs the extra time, aka extra battery juice, to switch the darn thing. -
@impruv: I'm guessing you like to drive stick as well huh?
most hybrid systems now will be manual switch that wont require a restart as the old systems did. also we will be seeing alot more manufacturers using the hybrid system now that the Arrandale chips have integrated graphics on-die. I like the idea of an automatic switch because I wont always remember to switch the dedicated card off when I'm finished gaming. it gives a minute by minute check to see which you need. I bet you will get better battery life with auto on than by trying to remember to switch the graphics off and on when you need it.
-
I doubt the amount of juice used to check which gpu you need will be more than the juice saved when you think you might need the dedicated card when you really dont

Benchmarks from hardwareheaven:
Hi, this should help a little... someone asked for 3DMark Vantage earlier on so I decided to run that with OC on and off (for those who asked about GTA/Dragons Age, sorry didnt have time for that).
So:
OC OFF:
Score: 3213
GPU: 2562
CPU: 13555
OC ON:
Score: 3235
GPU: 2568
CPU: 14686

@robamb2002: I don't know, it's like my desktop now. For my gpu, I have 3 profile settings. Underclocked + low fan speed [for anything but gaming], a medium fan speed + slight overclock [gaming], and max OC + 100% fanspeed purely for synthetic benchmarking.
I never forgot, it's like a routine. Open game, ctrl+alt+f2 = OC'd. -
Cool thanks, now what are the vantage scores for 330m since Vantage is a much better indicator for GPU performance (hence the scores even with OC). I wonder what 3dmark06 scores with OC, just out of curiosity.
*edit* shortened the quote, yeah I know I don't care for quoting too much either, but if someone was reading my comment they can just see what numbers I was talking about. Plus editing my post and telling you this was about the same length lol, I know better though, have read every single post since the debut thread. Just felt I should quote the numbers. -
@aznguyen: please don't quote but use the @ to reduce size of thread.
and robamb, I would love to drive stick but have not learned yet =) -
Nice option, but why not just clock it up like Asus did with non-gamer notebooks?
The only real difference between the SU7300 and SU9400 is that the 7300 is set at 1.3ghz and the 9400 is 1.4ghz. The reason the 7300 only uses about 5% more battery and about one degree more temperature when clocked to 1.73ghz is due both chips being underclocked for cpu segment purposes. It is the same as a 9400 clocked in 7300 clothing, but with a big price difference with the two chips.
Seems this could have been a good marketing point missed by Alienware. 1.73ghz is a lot less anemic to people than 1.3ghz. -
Looks very much up to me.
-
^ it was down for a couple hours worldwide. Up now and no MBP updates..
-
Good news from HH:
"Just had confirmation that the lower spec CPU will be overclockable too." -
Anyone planning on slimming down their Windows 7 install?
I wonder if there's any guides out there. I got a 40GB SSD, but I think it might be too small. -
That's good news for sure!!
So if that is the case, would there be any (ie, noticable) difference between the Pentium and the C2d processors?
-
@KoukiFC3S: well a fresh win7 professional install is about 16gb, so is the other 20gb or so enough for your applications/games etc?
-
That's true.. we're not talking about a power gate vs an ALU.. we're talking about a power hungry GPU here..
-
@KoukiFC3S: I fit Win 7 on a eeePC 901 which has a 4GB main drive and 16GB secondary drive. The main win7 install is on the 4GB with the user directory and the program files on the 16GB. I used vLite to shrink it before installing it, and used junctions to point to the other drive for the program files etc. The problem you may have is having room for games and other programs.

Weird, on one of my earlier canceled orders got an email status update saying it was backordered. But I checked and that order still shows canceled. I hope backorders aren't going to be something really happening for the M11x. And sorry but this wasn't really an order status update, but more of a backorder concern so I posted it here =) Could be nothing.
