The card is technically either the Intel 5100 or 5300 dual band 2.4/5.0 GHz half mini-PCIe card, otherwise known as the Dell DW1520. I'm not sure which one the DW1520 is but either way, this card rocks.

I want to say that it's the 5300 because I recall someone saying they streamed HD movies (which the 5300 supports but the 5100 does not) but I can't be sure.

I knew you could do it! Congratz! Judging from what other Canadians are paying, you got a pretty good deal. Don't get your hopes up for the rebate tho. My hatred for any "rebates" other than Bing CB is as high as the Himalayas.

Without the EPP discount I received, that's what I would be paying in the US so good job! You have to know that there are a couple of other factors in selling a product to another country other than a straight 1=1 currency conversion, so don't be too bummed that you didn't get it for the US price. This is a great deal.

i got that set up for $817 before tax. ehh...
edit: and by the way can we talk more about this battery issue? i didnt know there was proper ways of doing things to maximize battery life. Can anyone elaborate on how this works? specifically with the battery the m11x uses?

@arsa = Silver if you think thumbprints aren't your thing. Black if you want cool blackiness. And you can always look and read people's sigs to see what colour they've got.

    @Abused

I remember a whiles back, with a lot of electronics the regular way to maximize battery life was to fully discharge, then fully recharge the battery. otherwise, the charge memory on the battery would get all effed up so you'd get 75% charge because you decided to plug it in when the battery wasn't fully discharged. Something to that effect. I heard this rule no longer applies though.

Just to clear it up...bluetooth may be standard for Dell Canada...however Dell US you have to add it to your system...didnt want anyone getting confused.

@arsa- i got mine in black

And in regards to the different prices being thrown around. I got mine black, su7300, 4gb ram, bluetooth, and 500 gig HDD. Mine with coupons/tax/free overnight it same out to $1,296. Reading what i have read i wish i had jumped on the bandwagon sooner and configured on the main dell website then called EPP. But oh well...guess i will have to clutter my comp with abunch of stuff to even get close to using all 500 gigs.

Thanks for link, I am very familiar with SSD, I have a 160gb Intel X25-m in my desktop. Was more curious with actual performance in m11x to get an idea if there is a signifiacant boost with the weaker processor. I know in my desktop the performance is insane but I know much of it is dependent on the processor and controller coupled with the ssd. For instance netbooks don't notice much more gain than some 7200rpm platter drives. Whereas desktops give a total transformation.

Basically I am just wondering how much bang for buck you get performance wise coupled with su7300 and whatever controller the m11x uses to see if it is even worthwhile going ssd in this machine.

What system did you order? ( This is for the m11x ) I configured the sytem to 1099 and i called in. Asked for my epp code number i gave it to him. I told him the system i wanted. He said with the epp discount and taxes it was 1154.94

    Original 1099
    Epp DIS 76.93 (7%)
    Taxes 132.87
    Total 1154.94

So i would call back if i were you and get your 7%

Knowing that engraving would lower the laptop's value on eBay, I didn't engrave anything. If I did engrave tho, it would probably be something like "A$$ Kicker 9000."

On a side note, would engraving "Bill Gate's Laptop" on the plate make it worth more on ebay?
