The Orochi mouse is both USB and Bluetooth
-
I have Bluetooth but I have been using my USB... It is a great mouse... the only thing I wish it could do is refresh a page as one of the button options.
Can't wait for the M11x!!! -
I know what u mean tym! And do those eneloop really work that well? I am going to sleep now and check on this tomorrow and might order those batteries tomorrow...
-
I like how we are preoccupying the wait type by buying MORE products for the product we are waiting for
-
LOL Maybe so but I love Eneloops and they compliment my new Orochi Bluetooth mouse which I bought as a compliment to my new yet ever so far away, stuck in build purgatory, M11x!
-
haha...ya...its stupid...it actually makes you want the m11x to come even sooner....
but i can't seem to stop looking up stuff for it
-
and this is how the economy works.
-
hey tym...why are eneloops soo good? just curious...i may pick some up too
i've been using rayovac 15-min rechargables for the longest time...haven't really kept up with the battery tech. any idea how the eneloops stack up against these?

Eneloop - Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see the comparison chart, or look below. I have owned them for about a year plus and I attest to their greatness!

I also bought an Orochi gaming mouse today and imho it's really a great mouse, using it wired on my desktop atm and I really like it . So now I'm waiting to use it with my M11X. EDD 12th March. The wait is driving me nuts LOL.
-
@tymonator
cool! any idea how long the eneloops take to charge up? is it relatively quick? -
You are definitely part of the club Ami...!
@hawk - 2 hrs ? -
@all the orochi owners
from your hands-on, do you feel the orochi is small? any discomfort compared to a normal sized mouse? I have medium hands but have used only full-sized mice so I fear venturing into a small sized one. -
@A33
I am about 6'2 and have no problem switching to the Orochi... All new mice take a little bit of a learning curve but I have adapted it to it pretty well in less than 8 hours. -
@The A33a33in
Ya, it does feel somewhat on the small size to me but I figure I'll get used to it soon enough. -
Hey everyone, I've been following this thread since part I and I'm almost ready to pull the trigger. I'm debating between this laptop or Asus G60VX-RBBX05. Obviously this one will have better battery life and portability but I was wondering whether the G60VX-RBBX05 would be a significant improvement over the m11x in terms of performance for gaming. Thanks everyone!
The G60VX-RBBX05 has Intel® Core™2 Duo mobile processor P7450 2.13 GHZ with GTX 260M. -
Did you guys order the Razer Kabuto? 20 buck is a bit much for its functionality but it might be needed.
sidet topic: the new google banner today is amazing. -
@A33 didn't pick up the mat, didn't see a need for it right now.
-
Hey Logan or tymonator, how do you feel about the bottom of the mouse where the optical sensor is?
http://www.hardwaresphere.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/razer-orochi-gaming-mouse-rear.jpg
See how it's sticking out from the inside of the mouse? Does that get caught on anything?
Edit: ...are my eyes playing tricks on me? it looks like it's sticking out...
Editedit: rephrase: is the optical sensor good on the bottom? Does it get caught on anything? XD -
@ The A33a33in
No, I couldn't get the Kabuto. The Best Buy chain store where I got my Orochi didn't have any in stock. I may get one later though. -
@ ceolwulf
I have mine on the table and it doesn't snag on anything... it is an ambidextrous mouse and that little lip is where the thumb/finger rests.
+ your url is broken.
-
Okay thanks, for some reason I saw the small circle where the optical sensor is as sticking out and not flush against the bottom. I think I'm going crazy from lack of sleep.
-
@ ceolwulf
I C what you are talking about now... the circle of which you speak is inset a bit and doesn't touch the table. -
Perfect! Can't wait to get my hands on this.
-
Ok I'm gonna keep this short the G60VX from BB is now $899.99(great deal for great performance) and will perform much better than the M11x but it has a problem keeping the GPU cool.( everything runs fine just a little on the hot side).
My bro has one and he loves it( your welcome
) plays every game very well.
@ sorry to members who think answering this question is irellavent, just wanna help a brother out.
Please don't kill me! -
@IKAS V
Thanks a lot for your reply. And I hope the question wasn't entirely irrelevant because I have gone ahead and ordered an alienware making me part of the owner's lounge! I'm just having second thoughts still since I don't know all that much about computers. -
Man I can't decide to take an m11x or make myself an i7 or i5 beast. For the last 10 years I wanted a little portable laptop. But that's the thing I want it, and I do not need it.
I never really gamed on a pc with "age of empires" being the exception.
I started with the atari 2600 and I am now happy playing the gta on my xbox360.
I try to tell my self it's a good desktop replacement and a good watch movies in bed laptop and I do not need an i5 or i7. And the little F*&%$ only costs 930 eurodollars that being the 7400 and the 4gb. And the m11x is now available in Holland with the bluetooth standard.
Can anyone please push me over the line. I keep going to the dell site and configuring it and then close the website.
Maybe I just need a little small netbook. I don't now for now, maybe after lunch. -
I bought the m11x after having an MSI Wind. The Wind has been fantastic as the kind of machine you've described (watch movies in bed etc) Dutch_Limit, but it does have just slightly too many limitations. The main one being just not quite powerful enough - for films it's a bit weak to watch off the machine and not quite enough kick to it for multiple applications. You might find one of the newer netbooks would be enough, but I think there are enough free games and such that even if you don't buy PC games, you might want to be able to do more on it than just email/internet/video watching.
The extension of that being I do want to be able to play games once in a while but without having the commitment of a desktop which would be a burden as I move around a lot.
I think the m11x is probably overkill for my purposes but my balance is that it will serve its function for longer than if I just picked up another cheap netbook. Hope this helps you balance the scales a bit! -
if you guys have a moment, can you fill out this very short survey for zagg.com requesting to make an m11x screen protector? they wont make any until they see people may actually want it.
http://www.zagg.com/hotgadgets/index.php -
Me and colleage ordered the first 2 m11x in the benelux region. First of all if u want portabiliy and good performance for reasonable price than u should get m11x for sure. Like me and others in this forum. Before this netbook been using an eeepc 901 and loved it but was lacking in doing games or litle heavier applications. Have an Dell XPS 1730 that plays all games that i play in high settings with eaz only prob carring a bag over 5 kilo or more isn't fun. U won't find anything as good in this price range for the size of 11.6 inch. Hope this pushes u over the line
According to Dell getting MY m11x on the 6 of March
-
I think you can set custom buttons for each mouse. Go to the orochi drivers, then under advanced functions for a certain button, press F5 and it should set that button to press F5. Can be done for any key stroke I think. I used this for WoW a lot before.. at least onmy DeathAdder, haven't gamed too much with my Orochi yet.
As for the kabuto, it's great product. I used ot use my DeathAdder without any mouse pad, but after getting a Goliathus, it helped tremendously in games. So I got the Kabuto b/c it's a portable mouse pad that can be stuck between the keys/screen and protects the bottom of the mouse. Trust me, my DA got scratched up on the bottom just using random surfaces like a hardwood table etc. Even though it glides on the teflon feet, there's always something down on the surface to do some damage. If you spent $70 on the mouse, why not add another $20 for protection as well as other usefulness it provides.. my opinion. -
hey guys I'm back at work again... anyway, have a quick question for you. I mentioned before that I have the ASUS G1S and currently have a 500GB HDD in that PC, I wondered if I can put that into the M11x... I assume it comes with the standard 2.5" bay right?
-
Yes you can.
-
Makes sense, since the P series mobile CPU's run hot in the first place. Add the 260XT to this equals HOT! Imagine all the people that have the Dell XPS13 with the P8700 and the already hot running 9500
The best value for a 14" or smaller laptop is the the CW27. Has a MUCH cooler running i5 and cooler running 330m
If you do not care for the better portability of the M11x, the CW27 is a better option. Despite posts here that mean well, the CW27 would trounce our lovingly cute M11x in all around computing and games as well. Peak fps is is good on the M11x, but when a lot of NPC's are on the screen, the FPS drops, due to the cpu being a ULV. i5-520 runs through busy games with no problem, but not designed to last long with battery. A ULV is and THAT is the point of the M11x design- smaller form factor and longer battery life
I already have a killer gaming rig. M11x is for near-netbook level portability and still good gaming performance
-
I thought the P series C2D's were the ones that ran a little cooler w/ lower TDP compared to T series?
Anyway, I was racking my brain yesterday, THIS close to getting a CW27 (the $899-950 ones from Best Buy right) due to the i5 and 330m. It looks very capable and OC'ing the 330m looks damn easy and not too stressful. The system is 5.5lbs which is kind of heavier than I'd like but it's a 14" which isn't too bad and looks pretty good too, throw in Blu-ray player at the $950 cost and you got a pretty sick laptop benching on 3Dmark06 at 7700's OC'ed. That's damn nice, not to mention any CPU tasks are easily handled by the i5 without question. -

Oy, reading about the obsessing over the M11x weight is giving me a headache.
-
Yes, but Alienware is leveraging the GPU in their design for the newer games that leverage the GPU. It is a tradeoff, since the 330m would not perform as well on GPU heavy games like ME2. Also, in order to get the 330m at the same level for those games, you would need to have a faster CPU and that would kill the premise of the M11x due to a change in battery life and form factor.
My fellow M11x'rs need to understand that newer games are not discrete to the CPU or GPU, but scale to where they can pull the resources- IF the GPU has the feature set. Well programmed games like ME2, World at War and LFD do. Crysis, GTA4 and some others are CPU hogs, so will always fall back to the CPU. -
Comparing the i to the P series- "i" runs cooler. SU7300 is of course ULV, so runs cooler by definition
I had a CW27FX, but returned it when I researched the M11x. If I did not have my desktop gaming rig, I would have kept the CW27. IF you can only have one system, the CW27 is a better option due to more power, Blu-ray and the thing runs unusually cool. I would not even bother over-clocking, since you will probably be surprised how well it already handles games
Plus, the BB version has a 1600X900 display and contray to reports, it looks great IMO.
In my view, the M11x is the best portable device, but the CW27FX is the best "laptop". Depends on what you want
-
Hey so another thought... I will be swapping hdd's with my other laptop which has windows 7 into the M11x but I noticed that this lappie doesn't come with a DVD drive... can I load Windows 7 into an SDHC card and then load it from the BIOS on the M11X to install it on the new drive that I am putting in? What's the best way to do that?
-
yeah no gaming rig here, M11x is supposed to be my main computer haha uh oh
-
Just buy a $50 USB DVD drive
-
I know this has been asked a million times in here but I can't find any post about it. anyways I bought the best model of the m11x for 1800 maxed out since I found comparisons from the hdd and ssd
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews.php?reviewid=924&pageid=12
and I chose also SSD because of this video, I know that its the m15x and not the m11x but you get my point:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fiugY3RGws
but my concern is the chipset, do you think alienware will change it later this year? and will it be a whole lot of a difference?
I know that i3 is 30W and SU is only 10, so alienware will have to make changes to the book in order to compensate for battery life, and I know that the i5 that everyone is complaining about is just not posible to put in this laptop since it consumes 90W!!
What do you guys think?
By the way, at least they didn't put an Intel atom in this thing...they suck bad!! -
Hey so I can't do the SDHC drive thing with Windows 7? I am trying to save that $50 and get 4GB RAM instead of 2GB on this thing instead that's why I ask
-
If you don't mind having a crap screen.
If you disabled the GPUs in both systems, i agree. -
Yes, and probably not.
No one has been talking about i3's (or 90W i5's for that matter), because they're standard voltage CPU's. When we've been talking about the new Core iX processors, it's referring to the ultra low voltage variants, which consume 18W TDP - with most of 8W extra being used by the on-die GPU. So now, since the GPU is integrated into the CPU die, the chipset does not require an integrated GPU. Therefore the overall consumption (and heat output) of a ULV Core iX system works out equivalent (in fact, it's 10% less) to a ULV C2D system. -
And the way *I* look at it is:
I gain:
+ 11.6" form factor over 14" - again as stated before - this was key for my purchase decision.
+ SU7300 over Core i5 - vastly improved battery life - which is another key issue for me. I wanted an all-purpose "netbook" that essentially was a desktop replacement within the 11.6" package - with > 5+ hours of battery life if at all possible. Core processors don't come near that - *yet*. According to the Engadget recentreview of the Sony Z - it gets right at 4.5 hours.
+ Performance - again - we're not sure yet about the M11X. Is it a decent processor? Yes - there's *plenty* of reviews out there for this processor. Will it out-perform the Core processors? No - nor do I expect it to. Will it still meet my needs for typical day-to-day tasks (Browsing, Multi-tasking, Coding) - Yes. Does it have the best 3D card out there for it's form factor? - Hands down - yes. I've yet to see another laptop in the 11"-13" range (again - don't want that 14" - too big) that even comes close to the same card. Interesting thing to note, according to the same Engadget review - the Z got 6196 on the 3dMark06.
+ Looks/Appeal - as stated before - tired of the same old "let's make our laptop look like everyone else's" or "let's make a laptop that looks like a Macbook Pro" (meh). The M11X has character - kinda reminds me of the original Batmobile..
I lose:
- Nothing. (For me - there shouldn't *be* anything lost).
It really all boils down to what laptop fits your needs. -
So in short, will we be able to swap out the CPU that we have in the M11X with the new "i" processors in the future?

Here are the comparisons for the i3 and the SU7300, I think there is an increase performance because of the hyperthreading

What do you guys think? -
Yeah - seen that video before..
Wow - that's annoying - Google apparently is now forcing you to watch 35 second ads before watching a youtube video...

I guess it didn't came in the format I wanted! just click on the link to see the differences
