laptop bags are teh gay. what are you a lawyer?
swiss gear backpack, its for the cool guys. -
ok..
6200-6300?? what you mean ??? 3dmark2006??
mine is 6992
it is all depend what people value more..
to me when playing games on laptop,
i will always have a desk when i play the games i want to play with a AC plug = no need to worry about the battery life.
I just felt so dispointed on the m11x
when i first head it 11.6" most powerful laptop..
i never expect it will go over 4lb
i had alot of interest in it.. i been to dell.ca several time to customize several times.
but after seeing the weight, it just doesn't make sense to me,
if i have to bring something 4.5lb , why not bring 5lb with bigger screen to lan party.
dell could have fix it by giving the m11x a geforce 330m gpu low down the mhz abit inorder to cut the weight and thickness.
il have no problem buying a 11.6" under 4lb with su7300 and 330
i just can't get over the weight.!!
11.6" belong to 3-4lb
just my own opinion -
I've eaten steaks that weigh 1.5 lbs
to me there's barely a difference between 3lbs and 4.5lbs.
-
@abusedbunny-
I am waiting for abit but im going to buy:
http://www.amazon.com/Swiss-Gear-SA9768-Black-SwissGear/dp/B0019M7WEK/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_3
I know the smaller version is $35 and this one is $60 but im about to start college so need something with enough room for my books as well. -
@fury
the M11x is an ingenious product and you are complaining about the weight?
Nothing's perfect in the world, buddy. As soon as we "fix" the weight issue next year, there's always going to be something else to complain about.
Instead of looking at it half empty, look at it half full. Is the M11x going to satisfy your needs? then get it. If not, there are plenty of options.
Just none that is close to matching what the M11x has to offer at this time. -
yes there are ..my old 1201n was 3.5lb and my r480 is 5lb..
i felt all the weight...
i played the 13.3" ul30A in the local store, and the 3.7lb was just so perfect to me...
which made VT first choice between m11x r480 and ul30vt
but after pre order in the local store.. and it never show up... even now it is not out yet
I gave up and got the r480
to me weight = peformance = size
if i go heavier, i will expect more from it,
if it is light , i expect less..
at 4.5lb i expect to have a 13.3" screenthen i will have not much problem with it..
at 11.6" i want around 3.5-4lb
I think i am just greedy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I seriously doubt there is difference in weight between the GT 335M and GT 330M.
I don't know if you already know this, but the M11x has an 8-cell battery. -
330m has less steam processor..
so it use less power.. = generate less heat = less cooling needed= less weight= thinner=even lower battery life.( if you want more)
(clock the standard 330 from 575 ( which has power consumtion as geforce 230)
drop it to 525 cut some voltage , whatever needed to cut heat,) -
@fury.
you are complaining about half a pound? really?
What the M11x has to offer >>>>>>>>> 0.5 lb.
If you need a portible/gaming laptop as a second computer, I recommend the M11x. Please take a look at what the M11x has to offer, instead of mocking its weight. Have you taken a look at the ign/heaven reviews? -
im guessing you didnt read my first post
-
I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the $35 one. I guess I'll just add that to the list...
- Razer Orochi/Kabuto combo
- Warranty
- Kroo Sleeve
- Swiss Gear Backpack
Edit: man I'm the first post on a lot of pages. -
once its in my backpack i dont think i can notice a 1.5lb difference.
-
ofcause i did.as you say 0.5lb what i got from half a lb
I gain
11.6>>14"
su7300>> core i5
0>>dvd rom
i lost
335<<330
battery life<<
battery life i don;t care , i never play mass effect 2 when i am on the move walking around.
so the main i lost was 18% gpu performance -
does that one tighten up? i know the smaller version has strings on the side to pull to shrink your backpack into compact size when your not carrying a lot. thats a feature i really like.
-
You just have preferences. It's cool; some people really don't care about weight, others need or want something light.
To me, the overall size/footprint of the laptop is important. If I have trouble lifting it with one hand, I won't get it. I can't get anything above 15" because they just get too unwieldy while I'm carrying them. -
Idk how i didnt see this before just now i thought i saw em all. Also, this just got me even more excited because it has a sim card reader so i can pop out my sim card from my iphone and use that on the go. Hell yah!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgXMqd-3DRc&feature=youtube_gdata -
then try to put another 0.5lb you will not notice too
it is just i expect lighter machine.
i wish dell will have a M11X- lite ( lol like ds lite)
with geforce 330 and cut down the weight ,, i will buy right away -
ah... dont get your hopes up on that.... the iphone............ does not tether.
-
this agree with you...
i just too used to the light weight netbook
even when i choose this 14" laptop i have now.. i looked around between others similar sec one.. and this is the lightest with in the price range.
for example sony CW is 5.3lb
i could get a CW , i picked r480 just for that 0.3lb different -
Yeah but we found out later that right now the iPhone SIM doesn't work. It may work in the future but from the latest IGN review, it doesn't connect to the network. When I get my M11x I will test it. I ordered mine with Gobi so I'll let you guys know if my 3G card works, but I really doubt it.
-
i think i am tired of this thread too,,,,
...
if i made anyone mad, sorry,, i just couldn't get over with the weight and size -
Where did you find your Samsung R480? I've searched online and most informations points to a March 2010 launch.
Do you really have one or are you just comparring spec for spec between the m11x and the r480? -
It's fine, man. A lot of people are just very enthusiastic about their laptops because they spend so much money on them.
Everyone has different specifications for their perfect setup so it's hard to argue which is a better laptop.
-
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=457376
go to my mini review thread of my r480 laptop.. there are three link in the beginning.. point to where you can get them in canada ( one is a core i3)
i know it is weird..
but i have been using it for like more then a week now.. -
@fury
An easy way to fix the weight issue is to not carry anything else with you, besides the M11x.
If you find .5-1.5lb important, don't carry the powerblock/mouse with you and that would easily meet your overall weight requirements. -
yea why dont u just leave your house without your belt and pants either. how many kidneys you have? 2? you dont need that many donate one and ull be fine get the m11x now.
-
you two still have problem ???
if you think 1.5 is not much then another 0.5 will not be much ... go get yourself a 14 or 15" laptop then..
as m11x +0.5lb = 14"laptop range -
@fury
I am actually serious fury. I wasn't being sarcastic, like abused.
If the M11x fits your bill besides the weight issue, when transporting it, just don't use accessories and don't take the power block.
With the lights turned off, I can see the M11x surpassing 7 hours of battery life, plenty for a day. -
Eggs Scrambled Notebook Evangelist
cant understand the obsessing over weight. I carry around a like 20 pound dv7t everywhere and it doesnt bother me, the m11x is a dream.
Just wanted to pipe in that many of you don't seem to get what a desktop replacement laptop is. They're meant to be a "portable" version of a desktop computer, with everything built in for example the monitor is now the laptop screen. Like when sager builds a laptop that gets 20 mins of battery life because it uses a desktop 920 processor and sli with the best known notebook graphics cards. All notebooks have an inherent flaw in that theres not enough room to put the best graphics cards, desktop replacements are meant as a low footprint desktop with a UPS and monitor built in.
The m11x is nowhere anywhere near this type of laptop, if you feel like using the m11x as your main computer, that's a lot different than having it as a "desktop replacement". Just figured I'd clarify since everyone seemed confused (like 30 pages back...this is what i get for forcing myself not to read this thread for a day thinking it was dead
-
it is the feeling when you holding it...
you think i have problem carrying a 4.5lb???
i am carrying a 5lb
like i said... i can't get over the idea 11" laptop suppose to much lighter then that
around 3.5-4lb
13.3 should be around 4-4.5lb
if i carry 4.5lb i expect 13.3 " not 11.6
it is just how i felt
if i have to carry that much i will go for something bigger
that was why i got my r480
a reasonable weight for the screen size and performance.. -
@eggs
you ready for that SC beta release, huh??????? -
Alrighty, im chiming in. I am getting this not thinking of weight but because of dimensions.
-
Eggs Scrambled Notebook Evangelist
oh and also, i find the idea of removing any weight from the m11x as it is extremely amusing. You know what guys? I think the m11x would be better off with a 9400m gpu instead of a 335m, i really gotta get that 2lb back! rofl
@assassin: yeaaaaaah baby its today! -
I want in on SC beta!
Wait beta is coming out today?! -
@fury
before the M11x was announced, all sub-$1k laptops with a 11.6 or smaller screen were net-books. ultraportables were over $2k.
Now, M11x has merged the two. A powerful, portable machine.
With your perspective, if an 11.6 should weight 3.5; then the M11x should have an atom with integrated graphics and no lights. That is because that is market standard for a sub$1k 11.6 machine.
You have to be reasonable with the M11x. -
i said to 330
with reduce of cooling
reduce of weight and thickness i could be 0.5lb less..
and also 100 dollars cheaper....
it will be perfect.
whatever this is just a dream -
everyone stop pestering the man. weight is indeed a factor when deciding to get a laptop, just as is any other thing like battery life, dimensions and performance.
if he doesnt care about dimensions, then obviously weight is going to be the deciding factor. and if you can get a bigger screen for the same weight, the trade off is only beneficial. im not taking any sides here, but i can see his point of view on the matter. and whoever posted about "just leave ur mouse and power brick at home"- LOL to you my man. seriously... were you serious. -
I'm actually rocking the first messenger bag on your list for my hp311
it owns. once my netbook and my binder is in there though.. it gets a little cramped. like the bag is maxed out
but besides that its nice imo
-
@Ceol
I got my orochi today
and man is it gorgeous...as gorgeous as a russian chick in the snow.
-
@abused.
man, if he is going to be picky about 1 pound, I was giving him a solution. -
Oh beast, I had a feeling that was a good bag. I've never had a problem with Belkin products.
That pretty much seals the deal... now I need to get it. XD -
why ???
my girl friend 's gateway 1803h with su3500 is 3lb
the newer with su4100 doesn't increase much weight
i am reasonable. adding 1 lb for gpu is reasonable.
also if asus can have 13.3 at 3.7lb with a geforce 310 then adding abit higher power card like 330 the 13.3 should still be with in 4.3-4.5lb just like the m11x 's weight
2 way to go ... increase the screen size and keep the same weight..
or same screen size but reduce the system weight....
this is just my opinion. -
lol logan....thats pretty damn gorgeous
-
@hawk and Ceol
Why yes, yes, that is gorgeous. And i have seen oh so many russian girls. Not so many in the snow but look at them...now imagine in snow lol! Wow i need to go to sleep.
Edit: Here is a pic of my russian friend...now put the snow in.
http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/9092/russianf.jpg -
damn i really want that orochi too... but $70 for a netbook mouse... thats overkill. i think ill just get this one and use the money i saved for a game.
http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Wir...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265960260&sr=8-1 -
That mouse is cute but that dongle is killing me. I'd love something that uses bluetooth and it looks like the Orochi is perfect: switch between bluetooth and USB. It's like the perfect compliment to a laptop that can switch between performance and longevity.
-
I got my Orochi today too! Congrats! It is a great mouse!
Make sure to order some Eneloop batteries with the recharger and you will be set for a long long time. All of this is of course a compliment to the M11x!
-
@tymonator
I have not been able to test it out just yet. My current laptop i do not believe has bluetooth on it...but i will try the usb tomorrow. -
i like the look of that mouse too...its just....i kinda wanted to use my bluetooth and dont really want to take up any usb slots if i didnt have to. thats just me, tho...
