It's not going to get an i3/i5/7 you guys need to stop dreaming. If they put one of those in the battery life would drop from 6-8 hours to 3-5hours. This is meant for portability. Only upgrade it will receive is when the i7 ULV processor's will come out in 6-8 months. Which won't have the performance of a regular i7 since they will also be ultra low voltage.
-
It has been stated on the other thread that a Ci5/7 ulv refresh will be avalible sometime between August and September. (this timeframe was eluded to by the same poster who first gave us the 02/02/2010 pre order date for the current model)
-
anyone else notice the bluetooth option is no longer avalible? have I missed something? is it standard or no longer an option?
-
Once the arrendale cpu comes out, would we be able to upgrade the CPU from the SU model to the new c7 ULV?
Just wondering as a general question for all laptop. If I were to buy the su4100 model now, and new ULV chips comes out, can I like, buy 1 off ebay, and swap off the 4100 with it, without blowing up my laptop? -

You guys in the US are so lucky! The system is priced at £750 in the UK ($1200) and it will probably be more than the UK price when it comes to Ireland. -
I assuming that you could switch to the i processors when they come out from your dual core or is that a fool's dream?
-
I did a quick search of the two processors available, and from what I gathered the c2d has vt available on it which the other one does not, also the c2d has 3 mb of l2 cache. I dont know if any one uses vt, im assuming thats Virtualization, but I bet I would If i had it.

Fool's dream
-
So when THEY DO come out I can't send my M11x to Dell and have then change the processor and battery if needed? I just hate how fast technology moves. It really screws you over. The IGN review was great though so no worries.
-
Sure, if you want to buy a new $600 motherboard from Dell.
Might as well sell and re-buy.... -
That's what I figured. I'll have a decent amount of cash for fun stuff around then (whenever I'd felt like taking the plunge for an upgrade or w/e) so that wouldn't be an issue. I've never owned a laptop (I've been a custom rig desktop boy) so I really appreciate the info.
-
I don't see bluetooth option either.
-
I was really interested in one, as $799 translate to about £500 - just about my budget...
Only to find my dream ruined, by the £750 basic spec price...
damnit VAT and Dell EU pricing...
-
Dell's like that as we earn more in europe lol
-
The basic spec used to be 599 quid, ffffffff
-
It looks like they've included bluetooth in the standard base model now
http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/alienware-m11x?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn
notice it mentions optional for those items that are not include, but it mentions bluetooth.. makes me think thats one of the standard items, like battery and video card etc. -

I was hoping for Core i3
And 8GB RAM lol -
Wow, $1024 gets you the SU7300, 320GB 7200RPM HDD, 4GB RAM. Not too shabby. Still price is a little steep even for a 12".
-
Why Dell.be don't have any M11x model :'(
-
Yes! The base processor S4100 IS A DUAL CORE PROCESSOR that runs at the SAME 1.3GHz as the SU7300 * $100 upgrade*. However, it has a 2MB cache instead of a 3MB cache.
Bottom Line: You can get a DUAL CORE ultra-portable gaming laptop with 160GB harddrive for $799. That is a heck of a deal.
And, if you, for some reason, crave that extra MB of Cache, it will be an extra $100 for the SU7300 * (waste of money)* if you asked me.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Really, what's that advantage for all of that damn RAM? O.0
-
Anyone notice at the Select My Processor when you Pick the SU7300 the info to the side changes and say
Don't just keep up - get ahead.

-

-
This is now designated as the Official M11x Order Status Thread.
-
I ordered it early this morning and I've got a delivery date of 3/8. Were there really THAT many people who got in just a few hours before me?
-
Has anybody from the UK ordered? I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow for a eta on the delivery!

They just delivered production samples a couple of days ago, so real production won't start for a week or two.

-
Weird. My Estimated Delivery Date is still 3/8/10. I went back and reconfigured the same machineand it has estimated delivery date as 3/5/10. How can a later order be put ahead of an existing one with same components?
-
Amen to that....2nd gen for me...
-
That is a default estimate the system uses, the next estimate seems to me to based off the compenents you pick and some date reference in the system it figures based off the parts list.... then a *real* date emerges after the factory takes the order...
Never forget..... Dellienware /= accuracy
-
Mine was ordered yesterday. EDD is 4 APR 2010
-
Something is odd. I hope they didn't find an issue and will have to back everyone's orders up two months! I can't see how it would go from first of March to first of April. I think we'll see some dates moving around pretty soon for everyone.
Is the free shipping (or 5-7 day) delivered using DHL still? I forgot about that. I had all sorts of issues in the past with a dell machine and a couple monitors I ordered and Dell shipped through them. If that's the case then I may change my shipping to 2nd day UPS. -
I plan on using it as a netbook. Any low powered CPU will be fine.
-
Nope no issue.
Here is the reason

Ahhh, a few more | and I see you probably meant your location. LOL. Didn't think of that. Knowing Dell they'll send it by DHL who will then send it by camel?
-
haha, yea, I just hope Al-Qaeda doesn't ambush that camel.
-
Yeah really. It'd end up being the single most powerful PC in their arsenal and end up worshiping it or something.
-
I'm finally out of pre-production. yipee.
-
Build stage for me right now!!!!!!!!
Come onnnn Boxing!! -
Next time osama makes a vid, try to see if there's your pc in the background running MW2. LOL
