You what it is you ether are lucky and get a cpu that is capable to be overclocked or you are unlucky and you can't. Then you ring up and they say they don't support overclocking then you send it back for a refund and go else where with your money :)

Let me add to that my company buys from the lowest bidder. And the number of systems may be larger. My appologies for the bad reference. Also some of the systems are not "damaged" from the factory but during shipping.

Right, well it has to be Speedstep dropping the multi to 6x when idle then. There's nothing else that could affect the multiplier. When the CPU is active, it will increase to 6.5x and therefore 1.73GHz.

I'm still yet to see a CPU-Z screenshot with the CPU active while OC'd. Can someone please post up a screenshot of CPU-Z in the background while watching a video or something?

I need to see 1733.xx MHz beside core speed in CPU-Z! :D

New here, signed up due to my interest in the m11x.

Are there any m11x owners or soon to be owners out there that are also Star Trek Online players? I hoping to get an idea of how it runs on lowest settings.

    @ Homebrewer:

what about your screen build issue? I'd say that absolutely warrants a return. Remember, you are also in the UK, you have very very consumer friendly law on your side.

    Your pc is defective.

You should be able to return it for the screen issue alone.

If they will not take it, did you pay by credit card? Get the denial of restocking fee free RMA in writing, send it to your CC company and request a chargeback due to faulty goods. they'll grab the $ back from dell plus something like 30% and dell will hate it.

so i got the laptop that I thought was canceled today. The box isn't the typical Dell box, it's a black intel box. Strange. Since it's in my car, and I'm at work, I won't be able to open it until later today. Currently I am trying to contact DPA to see what I have been charged. The reordered laptop is still in production.

Well with the screen at the top there is a gap that is about 1mm it goes bigger though when you push it down though so I'll make it look worse when it gets sent back

okay I'll try that now then. omg you have to open the whole back..

Call them back and explain that there is damage or problems to the screen, and that while you use it it crashes. You want a replacement. Then use this one till it gets there.

    Done and done.

    Nice video h0M3bReW3r!

Agreed, that is one insanely reflective screen, but I do think it's more noticeable in those lighting conditions.

Glad you went through the boot, setup and desktop bit too - a lot of unboxing vids seem to just unbox, but it's the first bootup that I enjoy too! :)

My condolences for it not meeting expectations (i.e. working!) though.

For those of you who got a bad screen, do not return it. You have the in home service for a reason. Give them a call and they should come to your house to replace your screen. I had the same problem on my sxps 13. The screen was replaced 2 times!

Speaking of the screen....doesnt it look a little TOO small for gaming? I mean, if I play WoW on it..Id have to squint to see which spell im using!!!

Unless some of you have already loaded WoW up and tried it...any confirmations?

I've played wow on my Mini 9, nothing crazy like raids. But it was fine for simple stuff (grind/leveling)

So, this shouldn't be too big of a deal.

Mini 9 is 11.6 inch screen? I mean I could raid with it i suppose but i will have to find a good UI/interface to use or i might have to start keybinding. Maybe Curse gaming makes some good interfaces and UIs to suit the needs of portable WoW gamers?

What do you expect? a 6+ across the board? For a PC this *size* and form factor - it's actually quite good results. Throw in a SSD - and you'll have an extremely fast netbook that outperforms the majority of netbooks and notebooks out on the market today, especially with regards to gaming.

Remember - the whole point of the machine is to be powerful, portable, and power efficient all at the same time. Looks to me they've got that about right..

If that's the case, then posting online on a public site that you overclocked the pc isn't a good idea.

    No - mini 9 is a 8.9" screen, if I'm not mistaken...

    Mini 10v is a 10.1" ...

This is the same as the 11z - which is about 20-30% larger than a mini 10v. It'll be interesting to see how many people are surprised by the size.. :)

Take 2 pieces of 8.5 x 11 inch paper - lay them lengthwise facing you - pull up the top piece of paper - that'll give you a good base line of what to expect.

The M11x should be about 1/2" to 3/4" deeper (i.e. 9.13" x 11.25") - so factor that into your "paper" laptop.. by adding that length to the depth :)

That says 1.6GHz... :D Never mind, I'm sure someone will eventually post up a CPU-Z screenshot reporting 1.73GHz. I saw the Windows screenshot too, so thanks for going to all that trouble.
Nothing at all wrong with those temperatures. Let us know how you get on with the RAM test and report back. Just to clarify 100%, the BSOD (blue screen of death) only occurs when the laptop is in "overclock" mode?

The "screen/image size" is what really matters. Not the dimensions of the laptop itself. I heard the image size ends up around 10 x 5.5 or something. Confirmation?

11.6" is the diagonal for the screen (not the entire face of the laptop, just the screen), so the L and W measurements will be smaller than that. Just do whatever math is necessary to produce measurements for an 11.6" diagonal with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Damn it, Dell should seriously consider paying their Chinese factory workers a little more. In terms of work enthusiasm and product quality, $1/hr extra for every workers can go a long way.
