No. Even if the processor was socketed (which they aren't, they're soldered in), the Core iX series requires a different chipset than the Core 2 series.

 

so when do you think will they be available the core ix series??

 

Maybe 6 months, maybe 8, maybe a year, maybe never. Nothing has been annouced, it is all assumption and rumors. I think in a year we'll see something.

actually, it has been announced by an alienware rep on part 2 of this thread that a refresh will occur in 6-7months.

That's cool mine switched to Lunar Shadow too, email says Lunar Silver but the order updated to Lunar Shadow. That gunmetal looks much better than the bright silver looks like they decided to go with that.

Do it through Bios.

There's an option in the bios from some pictures that show, Overclock On <> Off.

overclocking wont make your system rise up a million degrees tho you probably shouldnt do it if you dont feel comfortable doing it, but its very simple so it shouldnt be too hard for you to learn. I know the first thing ill do before the machine even goes into windows for the first time is to start up the bios

 

I've never replaced my battery on my MacBook and it will be three years at the end of February since I've gotten it. Here's my battery information:

How the heck did you go three years and only cycle the battery 207 times??? My Macbook Pro's battery finally gave up the ghost at 380 charge cycles, but that only took two years.

nickbarbs, I may have been exaggerating when I said only audiophiles could tell the difference, but that doesnt mean that my experiences are invalid. I feel sorry that you haven't had the pleasure of trying out a nice pair of bluetooth stereo headphones.

The ones I've tried don't have any interference at all, stay charged for much longer than it appears yours have, and have very good sound quality considering they are wireless. It was just about two years ago that I got the first bluetooth stereo headphones that were available, and I still use the 3.5mm bluetooth receiver for them, with every pair of headphones I use.

I understand you have had much different anecdotal experiences with headphones but please don't invalidate mine, you may not have had a good experience with them but I sure as heck have, I'll likely never go back to wired headphones with how good the ones I own have been.

 

I think it was magic. :O I keep it plugged in a lot. This is the only computer I've had for three years so it's my desktop.

 

Dang I ordered those last week off amazon have been using for 7 days now on my desktop to just test out... I love them comfortable and great sound

 

I know this is a bit off topic but I'm ordering my m11x at the end of the month, and since I'm in the Air National Guard I found this sleeve for it through the military.

In anticipation of this laptop, I just bought a few steam cd-keys on ebay

 

Darkhan already stated that a refresh will come in like 8months or so but it's not close enough which is why he purchased one for himself already.

The i7 ULV's such as the 620 http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=43562 is clocked at 1.06 but turbo's to 2.133 when needed. Thing is it costs about 300$ for just the processor, so if you want i7 ULV's then be prepared to drop 1600+ on this if/when it refresh's with them.

 

I can tell you that I seen someone post that a rep told them the new cpu was coming in a couiple of months and was going to be much faster than the current ones.

I got Bioshock 2 and 1 for 35$ via steam. They had a 4 pack for 135$, so basically 35$ per copy if you bought the 4 pack and split it.

 

on whihc date do you think are you getting yours?

yea, today is new year's eve. Tomorrow is new years. In China, it's already new years today. I bought 2 steam games, l4d2 and mw2 ($40 total!), for myself in celebration of this laptop and new years!

The release price for the SU7300 was $289 in late 09'. The release price for the i7-620UM in early 10' was $278. Granted, the cost of a i7 system (with chipset/motherboard) will be more overall, but it definitely won't be twice the price. I'd even estimate that 6-8 months down the line, a ULV i7 system will cost the same as a ULV C2D system costs now, so it should work out roughly the same.

That's right. That "rep" stated that a refresh was coming with a standard voltage 35W i3 in two months. In my opinion, he should be shot...

Funny though, my GF and I already exchanged some V-day gifts and she bought me Bioshock 2 for the 360. I told her I loved it, but I already got it through Steam for the 4-pack deal. So we went out and I exchanged Bioshock 2 for Mass Effect 2 on 360. Since I don't have a gaming rig at the moment, ME2 on 360 should hold me off until March (I hope) until I can get back on track gaming my PC games I need to finish.. (Bioshock 2, Crysis, Dragon Age Origins, Company of Heroes).
