Most probably figured that out![]()
Still, perhaps that is the next step, a 13.3" M13x, since that form factor would be able to handle an i3 or i5![]()
-
Secondly, a 35W i3? That would drain the battery so fast, not to mention I don't know that an i3 is really any better than the SU7300. -
If anyone is interested in digital download games for the M11x, Direct2Drive is having a small Valentine's Day sale, most notable Fallout 3 GOTY for $25. Plus other games. I've heard good things about D2D though I tend to stick with Steam, it's basically the next best competitor.
Here's my link to thread.
-
I would still have at least MAME and UT 2004, but still... -
@htwingnut
exactly, Dell is like intel's "best friend money can buy" (exact quote from intel!)
@rushmore
yea, you can. -
Yes you can play games in offline mode with steam. In regards to Bioshock 2, you'll want to create an offline profile with GFWL (Games for Windows Live) but I believe you need to activate it once online before you're good to go.
Steam's help database regarding offline mode. -
then you can launch steam in offline mode. there you can play by yourself! but it works -
-
Thanks for the Steam tips! The cruise is bittersweet, since this means I will miss the rescheduled ACDC concert in April

and i just finished bioshock 2 earlier. ME2 last week. need another!
-
the black actually looks pretty cool and i would of gotten black too if it wasn't a finger print magnet. These pictures are just getting me more and more impatient
-
thanks nagshead..was hoping for comparison picture of them "out in the wild" rather than it done up with pro lighting and editing =)
-
anyone know where i can see a good video on how to overclock this thing using bios??
-
Yeah I was hoping for some out in the wild screenshots to.

hey guys whats the site that lets you dl old games again? It was mention on the part 2 thread, starts with a G i believe.
-
so simple and obvious.
However, to help you get the idea:
When the laptop starts up, press the button to open the bios (try F2).
Then you go to the Advanced tab (try the right arrow button):
Then press the down arrow button until you are at the overclock setting.
Then press the + or - (or just press enter, choose with up/down buttons and confirm with enter) button to change the overclocking setting.
Finally press F10 to save your change (and confirm yes by pressing enter).
The laptop will then start up again with the updated setting. -
wow!
thats exactly what i needed!!
thank you so much!! -
Well it has now been 10days since my order was placed cmon Dell! Hurry it uppppp
-
Thanks nagshead. the pics are awesome.
+ rep.
also, there are plenty of "out in the wild" shots.. and I feel like the camera or the lighting messed with the colors. Especially in the HH review, so these pics are perfect for me at least. now i actually know what shade the lunar silver is. -
same here!!
my "edd" is march 4th!
cant wait till then!!
i thought playing some games would take my mind off of it!!
but it doesnt!!! lol -
I think I finally found out that the WWAN cables are included (i'm speaking about europe where you cannot choose WWAN at all, not about the US). At least some technician that is from dell (I think) I found on another forum told me so. This is what he said (tanslated)
Yes, the 5530 (thats the WWAN card I was asking about) is fine. See here on a picture of the display. There are 2x2 cables. 2 for Wlan and 2 for Wwan. On each model the antenna cables go through in the display. You would have to change the display cover just to install an UMTC card (so they supply it with both cables right away).
Hope this helps the european guys wanting WWAN. Just buy the 5530 WWAN module seperately and install it. I will confirm after I managed it.
My guess is that for the US they might not be included if you do not choos the WWAN option, because there you have the choice between WWAN or not. Here in europe you do not have the option, so they probably prepare it so customers can add it themselves.
At least thats my hope... -

i'm too excited for my own good. I need a break.
-
Looks like I won't be getting any sleep until mine comes in. Looks like they are saying March 18th for me.
-
Btw, I think the record of somone staying awake without dying was 11 days.
So good luck staying alive *giggles*
We should not talk much about order status here though, there's a seperate thread for this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5868485 -
I ordered my M11X and a TackX Headset on the 5th of Feb. They split the order up with an EDD of March 12th for the M11X and Feb 15 for the Headset and I just checked my status and the Headset was sent out on the 11th so I should be getting the Headset most likely on Monday the 15th. Looks like the EDD's are right on so far ! way to go Dell !
-
"Amateur" pictures give me more of a feel of color, especially if there are surroundings to contrast the color. I'm not saying anything bad about the pictures he posted, I was just hoping for different ones without editing - like pics of some M11x from behind lined up like in the labs where they've done the three youtube vids of, ya know what I mean? Like the pictures of my purple iPod nano on Apple's site didn't really do it justice to what it really looked like in person with bluish/purple hints while online pics all looked straight up purple. Anyway, no hate, just hungry for new stuff hahah. I should really step away. -
-
Edit here's a good pic of the silver, it looks a little brighter on the front because of the flash on the camera:
-
^ yeah man, the HH ones are very nice. Not gonna make a big deal out of it, I appreciate anything new being posted, don't get me wrong. Like I said, I just need to stay away from the thread for like a week. Luckily I just got Mass Effect 2, so after dinner and a movie tonight, I'll have to get back on that.

@Eggs Scrambled concerning your read this link on SSD drives:
You are right, on this particular section the samsung drive is bad. However I think it was never meant as some drive for servers where low latency, high I/O operations and fast random access count counts more than for typical consumers.
I think the Samsung 256gb PB22-J used for the M11x is still a good compromise between (customer centric) performance and price.
This review here shows how the Samsung does compared to intel or other competitors: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/256gb-samsung-ssd,2265-3.html
I'd say quite good. It of course can't match up to the intel ones, but when you take the price difference into account (samung is noticably cheaper than the intel ones), it's still a fair deal.
Please note here that I've not touched on whether buying that samsung from dell itself is a good deal or not (though I do think that the price they ask for at dell america is somewhat high (570 dollar), compared to what they ask in europe (350 euro) - however you should take into account that the europe base model has 320gb and the base price is also 799, so higher compared to america as 1 dollar is 1,36 euro). -
my edd is march 15
-
Besides, I believe I was the first person who put forward the possibility that Dell most likely got a discount on the soon to be phased out ULV C2D CPU's, hence the M11x's low price.
In fact, if you bothered to read my post properly at all, you'd realise that you're questioning my response in 100% agreement with me. I'm lost. -
Few quick questions... My hard drive just gave up on my m1330... my mom wants my 1330 so she is going to get it fixxed and give me cash toward a new comp... my m1330 is my only computer... i had a dell 9300 which was way 2 big. my m1330 goes everywhere with me. Im looking at the m11x right now... anyone have size comparison shots with the m1330. is the key board much smaller would i be good with that as my only computer. I dont do much gaming but i had a sentia 12'' before my m1330 and i loved taking that to the lab to take data on. Ill be graduating with my chemistry bs in may and i want something versatile should i go m11x or with the m1340
-
as far as i've heard, it's a normal keyboard, just a little narrower keys. I think somewhere i read it's about the same as the logitech g19 keyboard? don't quote me on that, that's just what i remember reading.
bottom line; it's personal choice. If you feel you want or need alienfx and the big graphics card, then go for it. personally, its worth it. -
-
-
Personally, I barely see a difference between 13.3" and 11.6" but you're never going to get a good idea about the screen size unless you try it out. -
Thats what i figured. i had a 12'' sentia and it was fine. its also got an hdmi out so i can connect it to the 32'' now its just finding a good deal... -

i hope nobody is buying this machine thinking that its gonna be the end all for portable gaming. I mean don't get me wrong im super excited to get mine and get on some l4d2, but in reality i believe this is being marketed for people like me who are interested in getting a netbook for the portability for school/work but it also has the option to play some current gen games as well. Definitely wont be playing with max everything on all the time as i really could care less about seeing every zombie pore. But for people that care about that it is capable of doin so to an extent. Will for sure be hookin it up to my 42 inch hdtv though for movies and when i want to game for an extended period of time.
-
I think it might be perfect to replace my m1330 which i use for everything as my primary computer... just think it might be a little too small... the m1340 seems to be off dells site now... -
-
Hey guys, new to the forum, and i actually just about to order the m11x when it hit me, that the ddr3 was at only 800Mhz and i didn't know if alienware made it only that way or could it go up to 10600 and someone on the forum had the manual to alienware m11x and showed the m11x could go up to SO-DIMM 10600 204-PIN so im guess a set of these http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231340 would work on the m11x no? The difference on the gpu with a DDR3 800mhz and a 1333mhz would be very huge
and if it only goes upto 1066 id have to resort to buying the LG X300 for school only.
so if anyone reply on the forum it be great. anyhow i hope it really does work because that would be very awesome, and i wouldnt have to waste $116.
-
@ |R|S: yes, once you increase the FSB on the overclock, the ram will be running at 1066.
