Hi All,
I was just wondering if any Australians have got a discount one there M11x ? if so please PM me or reply
Thanks,
-
Since the Specs page show Bluetooth without the word 'options' and there's no option to add it to the system during configuration it is expected to be standard equipment.
-
anyone have another alienware service number, it's been a half hour and still nothing but back lit screen.
-
Small question, In alien fx, I could not find the option to change the color of the alienware logo on the back of lcd. Does it always stay white?
-
Thanks - much appreciated -
make sure you buy one that is BIGGER then 11.6"... because the edge-to-edge plastic that is over our screen is not 11.6" it is in fact slightly larger.... I dont have the measurements, you may have to do a 13.3" and cut it.
-
can't change it on this model. just its big brothers.
-
@des10e = Not even a POST screen?
-
Can you turn it off?
-
I've ordered the OCZ Agility - 120GB model - for right @ $300 (after rebate).
It's not quite the same as the Intels - but not the same price either..
Overall - from the reviews I've found, the OCZ Vertex, Agility, and Intels are all pretty close for the most part - with the exception of a few tests where the Intel drives still outperform the rest of the market..
The delineation between the drives are getting closer and closer however. OCZ is release their Vertex 2/Pro series early March - which, according to reviews - blow away the Intel drives..
Overall - I found the Agility to be the best bang/buck - in that it consistently performs (according to the reviews) in the 180/200 range, and has TRIM support as well. Vertex was next closer - however the difference between the Agility / Vertex seems to be minimal across the board - considering the fact you're now dealing with sub-millisecond drive access times compared to the "slow" hard drives in our computer today.
Worst case - I'll use the 120GB for a few months and grab an updated SSD for the laptop / and move the Agility to my Desktop Rig. -
Might be a dumb question, but how would I check for bluetooth?
I assumed since it wasn't an order option it would be standard. -
really
.. boo.. I thought the head would be different colors too
-
Mrusse01, Where did you order from? When I ordered my from Dell U.S. it was an option, so I would guess you might not have it if it wasn't an option. Might not have been offered where you were from.
-
Got a present for you guys -
It's a video of me really sucking at Left 4 Dead!
(Also, it's being played on my M11x!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiRNIuirWk4
(I'm not usually this terrible, I swear! I was just in a hurry to make a video!) -
ordered from Canada...I know it was an option in the US, but we did not have it on our order screen.
just checked my order confirmation on email and there's no bluetooth on the list, can't see anything in device manager...guess it's not there.
oh well, the price you pay for being first in line i guess -
It shouldn't be too hard to open the hatch and install the module right?
-
@opnickc = Don't fret, I've played with pubs that are genuine epitomes of sucky. Nice vid btw.
-
yea i think the slot is located right under the wifi card. so all you have to do is remove the wifi card, put the bluetooth card in and then reconnect everything and you should be good to go
-
Thanks
Working on a Shattered Horizon vid now. Can probably crank out a few more eventually if people want. -
I'll take some pics when I receive mine if nobody else has to confirm this, but it might be a week or two before they arrive.
Are there any internal pictures like that yet that would show the expansion slots? -
very nice vid picnik, about dang time someone posts some gameplay.
-
Anyone asked Dell if they sell the bluetooth module separately?
I'm using a dongle now; but built in would be nice. -
@opinickc = They don't care to even look behind them even though a teammate behind them got pounced and they got staggered. They only look around after someone with a mic screamed at them for about 30 seconds.
Keep those vids coming mate. And get a CoH or a DoW2 one if you can.
-
left 4 dead was 7.50?? and CoH trilogy was 12.99?? why do i miss these sliiiickdeals fuuuuuuuuu.......
-
@abused = TF2 for $2.50.
Orange Box for $4.99
-
@abused
During the Steam Christmas sale, they always have good prices on some games for 7 days. -
Ya I want in on the SSD bandwagon so bad but I need a 120+ gig one. I'll prob wait till those come down to $200-250 and get one for the laptop and one for the desktop.
-
hey guys just waiting for mine to arrive this morning my camera is charged i hope to take a unboxing video if i am not too excited and open the box quickly
-
Anyone seen this Alienware Neoprene Sleeve from Dell before? Was considering getting it.
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A3460823
On another note, I wish that Dell posted dimensions for all the cases they have on their website. -
Awesome find, I was wondering why AW didn't have a sleeve for it yet. Ordered!
Mike -
I've kinda copied this from the RAM thread cos i think its a bit of a dead dodo, my question is; would:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCZ-Memory-PC3-8500-1066MHz-Unbuffered/dp/B001CNR39A/ref=sr_1_48?ie=UTF8&m=A3EISXY0VA32G1&s=generic&qid=1266966511&sr=1-48
work in the M11x? Also would 2 of these enable dual channel or do you actually need to buy a 4gb kit for them to be "matched".
I ask because it seems a good price + free shipping!
(This'd be like a saving of £20 over buying the dell 4gb RAM + you could sell the 2GB that comes with it)#
Thanks! -
can you get this sleeve in uk?
-
I just looked through the Dell UK Accessories website and I didn't see it.
-
and i guess they wont ship it here either? maybe as they have the larger bags in both uk and us the sleeve will come here later on, i may just have to contact dell
-

Basically would you recommend purchasing two laptops to cover to different jobs (Gaming & Portablility) or would you combine them into a single package.
It's an interesting choice and one that I believe will make a suitable discussion.
I've heard that the Alienware laptops are prone to overheating due to the powerful components inside and with the recent release of a sub 15" gaming laptop - Exciting as it may be, will the small form come with the risk of poor heat expenditure?
Please comment, criticise and provide suggestions...
PS. I'm based in the UK. -
That sleeve is expensive. $10 for shipping making it a total of $42 for me.
-
If you don't do any cpu intensive task and just plan on playing games + basic stuff I'd recommend the M11x. Otherwise the Asus has a better processor, but the 9000 series Nvidia cards is getting a little bit old for games compared to the 335 in the M11x.
-
this sleeve is not available in malaysia.
-
I would combine the two, work/play. It makes it easier to take everything with you, and it's also much more portable. The M11X has a much better graphics card then either of the other two laptops. Also, the M11X has no heat issues, in fact, none of the new alienware laptops have heat issues. The cooling system found in the alienwares is remarkably well designed. I've never had a heat issue, even when I was doing extreme overclocking. It would be a good choice in my opinion
-
Hey, been following these forums for 2 weeks now, just got my m11x this morning, managed to OC it with no issues at all and all else is well except the fan is on pretty much all the time. Is this the norm or am I gonna have to be on the phone to dell ?
-
@aeonix = What speed is your processor OC-ing to and which did you get?
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
Did you just do the BIOS overclock? or by other means?
-
Simply Bios OC Windows index says 1.3 1.73 GHZ
-
CPU-Z shows 1.600 mhz like everyone else's though
-
I wish dell had this case option when they released the system for preorder! if they did i would have added that to my order so i'd get free shipping.
-
it seems the speakers on the m11x sound much better when it is turned upside down =\
-
Mine is here!!!
Setting it up now...Ack I love it so much!!
-
Mine also touched down! But I need to go through a few doctors visits before I can go home and play with it
-
Leaving in about a half hour to pick mine up from the sorting facility. Had no idea it was possible to pickup before an attempted delivery, FedEx rep said they'd hold it for me there, instead of making me wait all day (Need it for class, not itching to play games just yet
