So mine is here since yesterday, now about that fan i talked about yesterday. The problem is now gone, after it would not turn off and was blowing really cold air out i closed and opeing the lid and it stopped and now it turns itself off when its not needed so the problem seemed to solve itself. Weird

So CUDA Doesn't work with the stock Dell Drivers? We know the GPU supports CUDA...

I thought I had correctly installed 196.34, they worked fine until I rebooted, then the whole thing fell apart and I had to reinstall the Dell drivers...

I'm looking at the Kingston SSDs 120GB for about $250.

Does anyone know if they support TRIM? Which model should I get? I see newegg has like 3 different ones.

    Thanks. :)

Edit: Nm the SNV425-S2BN supports TRIM. I think im gonna get that one. The intel ones are too pricey for me.

Guys, Just a heads up, I have created **Official M11X Gaming Discussion Thread** So that we can consolidate gaming talk, settings, requests, reviews ect there. It is located in the side topics. Hope we can get some great feedback there on all the games we have ready to play.

@nickbarb= it depends on the software, Badaboom works fine with CUDA, so is Adobe CS4 and Cyberlink Director 7, as well as the core AVC, but mediacoder was not able to run CUDA and I was not able to install the CUDA 2.3

So I just checked my credit card. Dell Charged my M11X, $850 when I had agreed to $900. I emailed my rep when I noticed this and he never got back to me. I actually emailed him a few times with the question, since it's hard for me to get to a phone. BUT Dell also gave me my refund for my M17X on the same day. Take my money, then give me my other money back. Kinda funny the way it timed out. Now I'm looking at a -$3,100+ balance on my card. I'm leaving it there till the R2 gets ordered :D

Guys, soon I will also receive this lappy, but it will first come to my parents in Denmark, and then to Moscow :) So they (parents) will be checking if everything is ok with it. They are not pro in computers so I would like to know what screens will appear at first start of pc, what should they press there? I need guide them to 7th desktop where they will install benchmarks and test lappy :)

    From this video,
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tP6DZiHed4
I see that there were 5 screens where you must push something

    1) Name and PC title
    2) Password
    3) License agreement
    4) Time
    5) Wi-fi connectivity

That’s all? And what about windows? And settings programs? Or I’ll just see clean desktop?

BTW, because I will also ask them to test overclock, tell me, what button should I press to get to bios?

    Alright,

I'm able to install Dell's Nvidia/Intel hybrid drivers, then I can upgrade to a modded 196.34 of Nvidia. When I upgrade, 1080P playback via FLASH seems to work and the CPU load is much less and the playback is smooth. When I reboot however, everything goes crazy and it says it can no longer start my intel graphics card. GPU playback of 1080P Flash doesnt seem to be working with stock Dell 335M Drivers.

Seems that we're dependent on Dell releasing an updated graphics drivers for this machine :(

No, the M11x is not an Optimus product.

Does anyone have any experience with Timbuk2 bags? I've been looking at one, and I'm wondering if the m11X would fit inside of the 'Small' bag - Site says it'll fit 13" laptops, I assume it'll fit nicely.

Hi quick question about config. I'm a student and kinda pushing my budget here. So which one would be the better option of the two??
    1. SU7300 + 4GB RAM + 320GB HDD
    2. SU4100 + 2 GB RAM + 256 GB SSD (is the RAM not enuf?)
    Cheers
    (I'm in the UK btw)

@melvzter - are you going to be using this laptop strictly for school or doing gaming on it as well? The reason I ask is because 4GB of ram would help if you are going to game on it. The SSD drive you could always buy at a later date when you have more cash or when the prices go down... anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Since you are in the UK there is a bit of a price difference from what we pay in the US. What is the difference between the 2 configs that you put in your comments?

I would prefer the faster processor, more RAM, and the bigger HDD for school stuff...

I was hoping the m11x would be able to play this game .. guess not a chance in hell.

THQ has announced the PC hardware requirements for Metro 2033.

The publisher outlines the minimum, recommended and optimum spec for the highly-anticipated post-apocalyptic shooter:

    Minimum:

Dual core CPU (any Core 2 Duo or better will do)
DirectX 9, Shader Model 3 compliant graphics cards (GeForce 8800, GeForce GT220 and above)
    1GB RAM
    Recommended:

Any Quad Core or 3.0+ GHz Dual Core CPU
DirectX 10 compliant graphics card (GeForce GTX 260 and above)
    2GB RAM
    Optimum:

    Core i7 CPU
NVIDIA DirectX 11 compliant graphics card (GeForce GTX 480 and 470)
As much RAM as possible (8GB+)
    Fast HDD or SSD
    Enabling 3D Vision
Metro 2033 utilizes NVIDIA 3D Vision with compatible cards and hardware. To play in 3D you will require:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 and above recommended
    A 120Hz (or above) monitor
    NVIDIA 3D Vision kit
Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7

@tacopicante123 Thanks for tht. After the student discount its £825 and £995(ssd). I'll be using it for school wrk mostly nd a bit of gaming.
So u r saying 2gb ram is too little even with an ssd. Its just that its £80 to upgrade the 4GB ram!!

@melvzter - well 2GB of ram will get you by for what you're using it for. Windows 7 is not much of a ram hog so you should be ok. I guess if you're on a budget you could do with less ram and upgrade that later. The processor is comparable to the SU7300 with only VT as the main difference (Windows XP mode in Windows 7) and the 1mb additonal cache (which technically won't matter much in gaming)... so if that's not a big deal for you then go for the SU4100 and the less ram option.

Now I wish I had ordered the SSD. I am not going to cancel my order now (since doing so will make my m11x arrive in 2 months instead of 10 days). Is this something I can add once I get the m11x? Easy to install?

Games id use controller for: L4D2, Dirt2, MW2, Bioshock series, Batman, and gears of war series

I prefer to pull a trigger too, as it feels a bit more like you are actually shooting a gun. But if you plan to play online you'll have no chance and no fun at all.

I am a console man also, but FPS = PC. No question at all. A mouse click is a small sacrifice for far superior, much faster and instictive control.

And to answer your question yes you can use your 360 controllers on your laptop (1st result on google, google ftw):
http://www.microsoft.com/nz/digital...360_controller_for_windows_to_a_computer.mspx There are also PC controllers around that are made with the 360 controller design.

You are right. People using mouses will pwn me because there is a short delay when using a controller on a computer. However, when playing single player missions (which is what I would do on the go without internet) I would want to use a controller.

edit: you sent me link for windows xp, the m11x comes with windows7. Do they currently have a windows 7 download available?

with windows 7, you don't have to install anything. Just plug in the 360 controller and it should do it automatically. Well that's what happened with Vista so I'm sure windows 7 will be the same

You actually don't need to install the drivers. Just plug in the Xbox 360 controller (or receiver) and Windows Update will take care of the rest.

Now I understand only the 256 SSD is available for the m11x from dell. Can I simply put a 128 SSD in the m11x from newegg.com? They have a sell on right now :)

is there any vids on how to actually do this? I do most of my custom installation on desktops..dont mess with laptops too much.

    it's really simple:

    - Unscrew the main plate on the bottom of the unit and remove.
    - Find the HDD (with the unit upside down - front towards you - with plate removed - it's on the left near you).
    - Unscrew - the 2 black screws on either side of the cage/bracket.
    - Pull on the black "tab" to slide/disconnect the drive with the bracket from the SATA port.
    - Extract the HDD from the bracket by unscrewing the 4 screws around the bracket.
    - place your new SSD in the bracket - be sure to line it up the same as the HDD (i.e. SATA connection in the correct place/location)
    - screw the 4 screws back into the SSD
    - Place the bracket/SSD back into the computer - slide until the SATA connection is firmly engaged/connected.
    - Screw in the 2 black screws on the bracket to the laptop.
    - Screw back on the main plate.
    - reboot / install Win7 / enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling of 10x+ increase in overall HDD-> SSD speed.
