abe series is out on steam. was looking for old games i might wanna play and they were there.
look at the specs for assassins creed and see if the m11x ones are equal or better?
-
-
well probably not
abe im coming
-
It's not on steam he just added the link to the game to steam. So it says Starcraft 2(Closed Beta) non-steam game. He most likely did it so we can all see that he is in it.
-
I can run AIM under Starcraft 2(Closed Beta) on steam
people will believe it.
I'm just jealous I'm not in the beta.
-
It looks to me like some people are getting very unrealistic expectations for this thing. Do not expect this to run games maxed out ouputted at 1080 p at 50 frames per second. its an $800 dollar 12" machine, it really shouldnt be compared to full blown gaming towers. My hopes are at a minimum, leaves a lot of room for me to be impressed when it comes. a few people seem to think that dell sprinkled some magic dust over this laptop.
-
Look into CoreAVC combined with Windows Media Player Classic Home Cinema.
-
Exactly. It will probably manage well with 1366x768 or 720p resolutions, but beyond that don't get your hopes up.
I just love how people are comparing this with systems twice their price or with a 13" or 14" form factor. People obviously are getting way overhyped for what it is. Not a lot different from other CULV notebooks except it has a high powered GPU.
I'm getting it so I can game away from my desktop or when I don't want to lug my 15" laptop around. -
I agree but its a little more powerful than you seem to give it credit for. it has been confirmed by the guys over at HH (there forum not the review they did - the chap who reviewed it was kind enough to answer some questions) that it can play crysis warhead, on the snow level, on med settings at 720p with avg fps of 30. that aint bad for the most power hungry game out there ! he also said it played Total War on med settings which is a cpu hungry game i understand.
-
In retrospect, I shouldn't have re-bought it LOL. I had it via retail running without disc via ISO b/c I don't like CD-cracks b/c they have to be updated with every patch and DA:O was new and needed patching.. but anyway I was (and still am) a steam nut and it went on sale during the Thanksgiving sale for $38 so I debated, and went for it. I was able to resell my retail copy since I never registered the key b/c I just installed it via a glitch method where key wasn't used (I always keep reselling in mind, it's weird). So yeah, got it on steam.
Oh, and to answer your question, no problems at all via the ISO method, though there is one thing I should mention. I usually use Daemon tools lite for my ISO loader, but it didn't work for this game. The only one that worked was PowerISO which is why I used it. -
All I want my new Alienware m11x to do for me:
1) Surf the interwebs.
2) Check my emails.
3) Play video games.
4) Send my kid to college.
5) Create human suffering.
6) End world peace.
7) Get me laid.
8) Kick her out of bed the next morning.
9) Find God with it's built in GPS.
10) Make iPad owners cry. -
@ureanagger
don't forget the part about sh!tting gold and making you dinner. -
I'm sitting infront of 3 m11x's. In a store in Vancouver. Playing around with sims3. Taken a few pics. Will post later with my views. iPhone dying. One thing. The lunar shadow looks awesome!! Dark grey!!
-
is it a canada only chain? i would love to see this computer in person!
-
It's not a chain, it's a single store in Vancouver called Bungalow. I was there this morning and already posted pictures in another thread here.
-
I'm expecting mine to do everything except 7 and 8.
-
As long as this machine can handle Mass Effect 2, Star Craft 2(When it comes out), COH's, Dawn of War 2 and Diablo 3 I will be happy.
I am not huge into the first person shooters anyway(minus COD:MW series).
Not too worried if it doesnt lay Crysis maxed out(which it wont). -
Was there this morning and YES the Lunar Shadow is nice
-
Sweeeet!! Glad to hear about the lunar shadow..snappppp Pics yes please whenever you get a charge.
Hey thanks for the link, I was gonna ask =) -
I played mass effect 2 for a while on it at max and shadows on. Played it like I was on my M17x.
-
Damn, you beat me to it!!! oh well -
Random question: if you don't add one of the gobi services when ordering the m11x, can u just stick a SIM card in at a later date?
-
^ still want more pics!
-
You can still stick your SIM card in but it won't connect you to your SIM's data plan unless you order Gobi.
-
so, what if i order the gobi for verizon, but i later decide i like At&t better? can i just switch the SIM card and be OK?
-
Ugh, March 4th seems so far away. I've been going through steam looking for games i want to play to pass the time. Also, playing bioshock 2 helps me time travel for brief amounts of time.
-
hey all, been lurking for awhile i had ordered a cosmic black and then changed it to lunar silver.. when there were a few pics but not many to get a good decision on and then i had a choice again to change the color because of a dell mix up and i ended up going back to black ugh.. now that i see the new lunar shadow that was just posted, i regret changing back to black argghh.. and if i change my date will most likely be pushed back and they have to cancel and reorder kinda stupid.. any suggestions?
-
Nope either stick with black if you want it sooner or cancel and re order then wait an extra 1-3 weeks for Silver. I personally wish I went silver also but I am not canceling since I want it now instead of waiting an extra 2 weeks.
-
From what I understand, you can flash the gobi for att if you get verizon and vice-versa. Don't know for sure, but that's what I read.
-
yeah.. sigh oh well.. pretty retarded that they didn't have better pictures of the lunar shadow to begin with.. i thought it was going to be a bright silver.
-
Post your pics anyway, the more the better. You should also post your impression of the system which other may find usefull.
-
Ok, posted some pics on your other thread, didn't know which thread to post on, i'm confused!
-
^ lol we're all hungry for news and pics, so yeah this thread would work too b/c I didn't know of the other thread until it was linked on the last page. Also impressions of the unit would be great..
-
Have you tried Virtual CloneDrive?
http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html
It "plays well with others"
- and it's free to boot.. Gives right-click mount capabilities, etc.

I'm getting anxious to receive this little beast.
First thing I'm doing is turning the OC on. Made a huge difference on my ul30VT. -
lol thats what she said!
Anyway I'm looking forward to the M11x. Can't come soon enough. -
SaosinEngaged Notebook Evangelist
Lunar Shadow looks so sexy from those pics, btw. I couldn't go with the black, I was compelled.
-
quick question, can you turn off all the lights on the m11x including the alienhead in the back of the display?
-
im sure this has been asked in the past but i don't feel like scrolling back through 3 threads. I just got the THQ complete pack off steam but really wanna get Battlefield Bad Company 2 as well now....what setting do you think it will run the most efficiently on if at all? i could really care less about crazy graphical boosts
@jackpfree
yes you can, especially if you wanna get some xtra battery life -
How the heck does that store have them, yet still only two media reviews so far? Is this a heavy Olympic personnel and media trafficked business area? -
Quick Answer: Yes.
why though!
it looks too nice.. save battery < look nice
lol jk
-
Bungallow's only line of products is Fatboy furniture. Fatboy is launching a line of SIM 3 products in collaboration with EA. Dell is using the venue to promotote their newest gaming laptop!
Bungalow is located 6 or 7 blocks from the Olympic Village which is also in close proximity to one of the largest set of Olympics related venues.
Having said that, if you are not from here there's next to no chance you will make it up that hill to Main and 6th to find Bungalow... I knew about it cuz I saw the press release from Fatboy. -
Good job, Canadians! I wish I was over there with the laptops, too.
-
I wouldn't get BF BC2 just yet until someone truly tries it out on their M11x and stress tests it. It doesn't sound like it runs well on dual cores, but rather four cores/threads seems to help tremendously.. I dunno if the SU7300 can hang or not.. I even see higher clocked desktop Exxxx processors struggling even with decent gfx cards.. so I dunno, it is beta though.
-
i run the beta on my desktop at medium settings at 1920 x 1080 and i get 35 fps when theres alot of action going on. If i am walking around and theres not alot of action i can get around 50.
my desktop has
a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 if i remember model number correctly OCed to 3.16 GHz
a Nvidia GTX 275 also oced...too lazy to look up the clocks
i dont think the m11x would really handle bf2 bad company 2 too well. -
This. Word has it that they're going to clean up BC2 a bit to work better on lesser CPUs. Just a rumor, though.
-
Glad I got BC2 for the 360. Tried the beta on my desktop, which isn't that great either and it barely ran. noticed some better effects on the pc than on xbox 360 though.
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield:_Bad_Company_2
min requirement is 2ghz core 2 duo
recommand requirement quad core -
Does anyone know if you the drivers it will come with allow multi-gesture support?
I really prefer scrolling with two fingers than the side scrollbar
or is that a driver i have to do myself? -
@dark
I don't think the touchpad has multitouch functionality. Alienware is smart enough to market that feature if it did.
Yea, I like that feature on the macbooks. -
@exiled & azn
Thanks. It was just the fact that the deluxe edition on steam is only $49.99 and thought that was a damn good deal. Prolly just put it in my gamefly que for 360 and get it that way.
