Run 1920x1200 with and without 8xAA.

Oh for overclocking try techpowerup gpu tool beta 1, I used that to get my 10.6k on the 4850s. Once you have it, use the sync both cards clocks option for simplicity.

And push slowly, Im not sure what the heat or give (voltage allowed overclocking margin) on these is, and I'd probably avoid overclocking the memory; it's more prone to damage, and doesnt really benefit the RV770 series as much as clocks. Regards drivers, get the hardware ID for both cards and send em to the mobility modder guy, if they arent already in the list he can amend the modder for next release, the ID on these is likely different from the ASUS cards.

Hmm i'd have to say for the cards to be overclocked, youl need to flash a margin for them, (MSI have flashed the G series ones to have 50mhz on each clock and ONLY 50 mhz so i dont think alienware have even implemented the possability of overclocking, soooooo if anyone has the guts, its worth doing :p )

The reason the tools keep reseting and the clocks not budging, is because you cant really overclock past the cards vbios with mobility series for some reason, (even i cant without a flash).

Just to let everyone know, I was on the 3dMark website last night and unless there is another johnksss out there, his DT rig is turning in like 46k on Vantage. Sorry to put you on blast, john, but that is damn impressive.

If they're like the 4850s from AW they don't even have Overdrive here. The lack of further pushing is likely down to tight voltage.

GPUtoolbeta does allow at least some overclocking for quick testing for these guys though, and they can look into perma flashing later :)

You wont be saying that if Mandrake walks up and boots your scores to oblivion, with the added satisfaction of having DX10.1 support and better HDMI audio support as well :)

Still, we'll get the next wave of GPU upgrades providing Clevo don't let Kobalt down :)
    Coooome-on GT200/GT300/ATI 5 series mobile chips!

well tbh i used to get fedup with needing to mob mod drivers all the time, even if the 4870's are better at the moment they are only a stop gap my focus is on what is next as you say the 300 and 5XXX series

having 10.1 support imo wont make a huge difference to me

Show me a true Dx11 mobile card then im interested ;)

*Cuts a 5870 in half and selotapes it in an M17x AW style*

    Does that count?

Haha more seriously Dx10.1 support will depend on just HOW flexible the DX11 superset feature is; it sounds like one of the key benefits is it WILL use allow and utilise DX10/10.1 cards, but just disallow any DX11 only features, when rendering via DX11 render path, which is a bit of an improvement compared to the DX10 render path when it comes to compatibility.

I'll be quite happy to leave G92 behind, Im well aware of the limitations, unfortunately we need to wait. Hopefully, if there is no sign of decent progress from Nvidia soon, Clevo will at least talk to ATI, I mean it'd hurt a lot of thier performance ODM market if no one is buying them as they can't get decent mobile cards with them, by the time other manufacturers are adopting the 5 series, and they're still using G92 based parts.

As DX11 is open to Win7 users, that should help increase takeup also.

that's a real benchmarker. Benchmarking any and everything.

i'm working on stock runs right now since I overclocking doesn't make a difference in anything except vantage.

My m17x is at 3.4ghz. Since i can't OC the video card... here is my best result so far.

    3DMark2006 : 15734 pts

with 9.10 driver (easy to install with the ati modder)

Well it's not that good .. for the same price as the 280 sli. Shame to AW !

3dmark06 is hopelessly outdated, people only use it because it produces large numbers (same reason some still use 01/03). Vantage or ingame benchmarks are much better tests Baron.

If you're using a dual core, then that scores actually not too bad.

guess I should (and this is with my SSD as well - 240MB/s read speeds....170 MB/s write)

On the benchmarking note, Rengsey, you have any of those game results in yet? I went through another night of not sleeping and have a few hours to kill before starting class....

I have break the 17k for 3DMark06. See Signature.

Now. I will break the 12k GPU Vantage. Thats hard...

@ drake: I think the KingstonX is not really better. This 17k with original RAM. I test the same config with the KingstonX next Days. Then i can see the different.

Here is SF4 benchmark. This is running at stock on everything, even cpu.

One question , by the look of the screenshot, am I in CrossFireX mode? I can't tell. Because the FPS is maxxed to 60.00. Is it runnning one card or two?

If you have Vsync turned on, it will lock the max FPS you get to the refresh rate of your monitor, which could be why you're seeing that.

Run both those benchmarks with 8xAA as well.. What drivers are you running btw rengsey ? If there not atleast 9.9 for Resident Evil 5 then the crossfire profile was messed up for that game...
