Which processors will be offered, any word on this yet? I know the current M17X won't accept the i7, but thought maybe the refreshed would also be able to accept both. Though I read that it will be offered with the Q9000.

Take a look at what the M15x offers. Should be the same.

    Nope, just different.

It might mean less fun for people without Xtreme processors in the i7 refresh if they leave out the ability to tinker with non Xtreme CPUs... On my desktop i7 and running a non Xtreme i can crank on the BCLK to bring up my clock speeds but i have not seen that feature on any mobile systems yet... Only time will tell...

I changed CPU last night from Q9000 to QX9200 and got worse scores with the [email protected] than on the [email protected].

Only thing i changed was updating to A03.

Went back to A02 and my 3Dmark06 score jumped 2000+ points!

    yeah i know...physx has it's own category..(as you seen on evga.. :))

and benching is the whole machine..not just video cards anymore...that was really back when all you could do was that, but now the whole laptop can be manipulated, so it's also time to start adding more categories.

nothing wrong with benching with physx on, since it really is harder to pass with high over clocks (nvidia only). i like to see all kinds of benches....just for informational purposes... :)

    I currently have my CPU @ 2.53 and GPU @ 650/950/1650

3DMark Vantage scores is in attachment.

Max temps during benching: CPU 63C, GPU 68C, 9400M 65C. In hardcore gaming the temps are a bit higher but not significantly. Max is around 73 on discrete cards. Temps during stress test is in attachment.

How do you enthusiast benchmakers think about my work? Any advice to get higher result?

    Thank you guys :)

I cant say what good GTX 260m scores are, but those are around stock GTX 280m scores, I managed 10400 on GPU at stock

Best tip to higher scores, tweak the 3d settings in the Nvidia Control Panel and get your clocks as high as they will go

    Also disable the 9400m ;)

Thank you Scook. I often tweak 3D setting in games but never thought of tweaking it when benching. I felt like cheating lol. But now I will do :D

My GTX 260Ms are at 550/950/1350 stock.

They can run @ 650/950/1650 without overheating (actually the temp is pretty cool) and show a huge improvement in benching but are not stable in Crysis (got FPS dropping). Is it because I don't raise the voltage?

yes...i think it's getting time to prove a few people wrong about the actual performance of the 5870's... in the right hands...these things should be smoking!...not sure how nividia is gonna fair if they haven't fixed it's AA problems....

    shad 1650

    what driver are you using?

And I'm using 186.82 on Dell.

on the memory. the normal is 950 and the 1060 is a big jump. increasing the memory yields bigger results in vantage gpu score then upping the shader core. at least in my 280m that is what i experienced. if you are worried about your gpu i wouldn't push it past 1070 without some veery good cooling.

and dox 182.46 is the 2nd best driver for vantage. i would use that. and it doesn't support hybrid.

I would like to think that I contributed something to M17x benching as well lol

Anyways, I lost steam when the refresh was announced. Was interested in trying to get 4870s to be on an even playing field, but with the new cpu as well, I wont have a chance. Hard to get excited

(and I can't just sell my M17x and buy a new one, no credit, I buy all my toys cash in hand)

it's quite a few of you guys who have contributed to this and turned the cards in what they should have been when the machines we're first purchased. great work all around!!

but for those not knowing...benching is a very very expensive hobby! and not for everyone!
for those who come in and talking about your crazy for spending this and that and i would never spend this and that...need to find another thread to post in...lol. because these benchmarking threads are not for that.lol

and if it wasn't for you guys...people would never know what they're machines we're really capable of doing.
    big ups to all!!

    GPU @ 660/1060/1650MHz

    CPU @ 2.53GHz

    9400 disabled

i was just looking at those numbers and i sure hope that's not the plan for q1 or q2 for that matter..i know highend gaming is only like 2 to 5 percent of the market, but that 10.1/2.1 is a bit on the dated side of things..(poo=personal opinion only) at least be 3.1...

I always wonder why all those people who maxed out their system and never want to benchmark * scratching my head * , whats the point of spending so much money if you don't bench to see the capabilities of the machine as you have mentioned. I guess it's a braggin' rights without the evidence of why it's expensive....lol

i'll go for bragging rights as well... me..it's for that and the fact that i have/had the top of the line system in that era of time. to make something do what it's not suppose to do. and the sheer enjoyment of setting a world record or breaking one. proving the naysayers wrong or giving them the proof they need.
take a small loss on the sale at the end then upgrade to the next best thing.....very expensive indeed! but hella fun all the same! :)

I can't get my CPU above 2.53. @ 2.53 it works very well without overheating (only 67-69 during torture test) or crashing or freezing but whenever I try to OC more the system can't be boot. How it behave @ 2.53 makes me feel its potential is higher but...
