wow ... and I thought I was the only one who got "canceled" , when I checked my system's status earlier today. Now, I'm wondering, my system's order was re-placed as of yesterday, the 12th. So, does it mean it should ultimately come with that latest promo they are having (free Alienware's headset and mouse) ??

... Jeeezzz , I could've never imagined that buying a new computer could be such a pain in the @$$ !...incredible ...

I don't understand how 'waiting for a part' gets turned into 'start the whole process over' with a new order number. Especially since I was only a week out from the old ship date.

Odd, mine didn't get reordered. I still have an EDD for the 30th and still in production.

OK, possibly good news on the cancel - reorders. Going through different channels (not the Indian call center), there was an issue with the Windows 7 factory load that caused all the heartache. It has been corrected on the floor, but did cause a lot of units in produciton to have to be re routed. I don't know where they got the 'blue ray' thing they told you.

The possible good news is the EDD on the site and that the call center sees is formulaed based on the order date placed (dumb logic) and she told me the actual ship date is probably only going to be a few days later than the original ship date on the first order (not the revised order). I also got expited shipping so it may even be here the same date it was supposed to

Keep in mind though, my company is just a subcontractor for Dell, so I can't be 100% that even that info isn't full of crap since I am in engineering and not production, but at least it is hope. Inside though, I am still prepared to wait the full term until mid-December. I would avoid calling the normal call center since all they see is the same info on the website. If you go through the financial services portion, you are more likely to get a closer to real time story.

I just checked my status online since my "revised" shipping date is today. I saw this new paragraph saying that FTC requires me to consent to the delay or my order will be canceled. So I clicked the consent link and my order it still active. So nice of them to notify me about this...

And if all this has been caused by a Win7 load issue, that just makes my day since the first thing I am going to do is wipe the drive and load Ultimate 64 anyway!

I hear ya Jak...they are supposed to call or email regarding delays. I've now been hit with two separate revisions and have never received any notification from Dell. I had to track them down myself.

I did get my first delay email on Mon since my original EDD was 11/10 and I am sure I'll be getting a second one again, but it's the fact that they didn't send anything about it getting canceled that it upsetting. Just glad I caught it...

Still says shipping on the 20th arriving on the 30th though. Boxing takes a week...?

Normally three days. If it just went into boxing today I would expect it to be shipped either Monday or Tuesday.

This is incredible... at least I think it is.

So I contact the service rep that I was assigned to on my order. She finally gets back to me and tells me my order was canceled. I asked why and she said it was because a part I ordered was not compatible with the system!?!? I asked how that could be, how can I order a part that's not compatible. Upon further conversation with her supervisor apparently a part was back-ordered and is no longer available. So I ask which one, can I change it... they don't know! They want me to reorder so I say ok what do I have to do? Call sales or order online then give them the order number. So I have to place a whole new order! Again!! I asked if there was any kind of compensation for this mess. The supervisor said yes definitely... but you will need to place a new order first. Why? "Because this order has been canceled..."
Meanwhile I checked online, my account is still charged the amount of the order yet there is no reorder, no new order number, just the old one with a "changed" status.

I will continue this tonight since lunch ended... to be continued...

I spoke with a senior CSR this morning about the cancel/resubmitting of the order. My order had not been processed because they needed to resubmit the order thru my credit card. I had enough of this run around and had them cancel my order. Seven weeks to get a system just isn't acceptable to me.

I haven't had complaints with Dell over the last 10 years but it's clear Alienware hasn't been integrated well with the rest of the company.

Now its time to move on.

Just thought I'd put my order info in. Mine went out really fast for some reason but I'm not complaining! It will arrive Monday as I paid for overnight shipping since I am so impatient for my new toy! Specs are in my sig.

    Order Date: 11/08/09
    Ship Date: 11/13/09

Sorry for your troubles Pluto10. I would be very frustrated if that happened to me!

Well, after being transfered three different times and being put on hold for what seemed like light years, I finally got my order canceled. I just gotta say im so frustarted with this entire process. I guess ill wait till an M17x refresh next year. Or, if they have a "knock your sox off" type holiday sale I might bite then depending on what they are offering.

It seems like a lot of the orders that showed up screwy are actually still on track. I am glad I didn't cancle in a fit of rage. Funniest part is, if I hadn't been clickng the 'order status' page every day, it would have still showed up the same day I thought it would and would have saved myself a ton of stress.

The people at that last number I listed seem to be the only ones who seem to know what is going on... also seems to be the only ones with American accents also.

I can also share that when HP and Compaq first merged, we had a ton of problems where there was no equivilent statuses in the HP system for the Compaq feeds to update correctly. It went pearshaped to the point where we had call centers calling up customers to tell them their system was going to be delayed only to find out the customer recieved their system in the mail 2 days ago.
I wouldn't be suprised if this isn't a simular situation.

Thanks for the advice, I may try finance first since it hasn't been refunded back. Since support already said my order is canceled it's either finance for sales.

Well, I'm really not sure why yet, but I went through an hour and a half of correcting my Dell Preferred Account, reordered and submitted the order number to service. It hasn't been expedited with free next day yet since they were out of the office by the time I completed the whole order process. I jumped through their hoops once again but for the last time. One more slip and that's it.

In the process I once again got upgraded. Due to additional promos I got the Tactx headset and mouse. I received a total of 14% discount using DPA and EPP, I went from 280m SLI to 4870 crossfire, WXGA+ to WUXGA. I dropped the 1333MHz to 1066MHz.

This is Exactly the same thing that has happened to me. I was scheduled for shipment 11/17 Now with New order the ship date is 12/16......
Bunch of MFBS if ya ask me.
I'm gonna be calling everyday until I can get some kind of compensation for the Extra month of waiting. Of course my agent is off work today.
Truly I'm steamed at the way Dell handles things. I have purchased an Area 51 yrs ago when Alienware ran things and they actually made you feel special.
This will be the last purchase thru Dell form me. And Dammit I want to speak to an American when I call!!!
Lolly pop this bunch of incompetent somethings. :D
Ok, I vented a bit there. Sorry if I offended any non Americans about there acccent.

Orded my 17x the first time on November 1st, delivered to my door on Nov 11th. Incredibly timely but i got a ****ing lemon. Froze the first time shutting down and after rebooting most programs would stop responding, the sound would go in and out, and the touch buttons didnt work.

Talked to "my tech team" who remote controlled the computer for an hour or so, and then he tried to download new drivers and a blue screen fatal error occured on him and internet went out. Ha, even after alienrespawning it the thing wouldnt even boot up so i was told to send it in and they would repace motherboard and graphics cards... told dell i wanted a a brand new one, so i am now awaiting the email to recieve the packing slip to return the dam thing.

In mean time i ordered a new one...this time i upgraded from the previous one and got the 1200p screen, 640 raid 0 hardrives and blue ray. After it becoming a reality the first time, I decided to splurge on the second one around. Just ordered the new one and it went "in production" couple hours ago. Est. deliver date 12/08. Hopefully it will come in a week and a half again. The Epp discount helped out too as i work for a large corp.

I am very sorry some of you like myself have had so much trouble lately. I ended up canceling my order as I had become beyond frustrated with the whole process. Not sure what im going to do now. Maybe ill wait for an M17x refresh next year. Or, I might actually forgo the whole laptop idea entirely and opt for Alienwares new Area 51 ALX desktop. Now thats a sweet beast!

Yup, the reason I haven't canceled is I'm waiting until Monday to see the revised date. One rep told me that all the re-entered orders had that December date on them, but that they would really ship next week. I have yet to get any kind of freebies...I already paid for overnight shipping.

I doubt the website will be very reliable on dates. I wouldn't freak out if the website still has the same place holder date on Monday.

I got a call saying mine would most likely ship late this week, early next week. I ordered on the 23rd of October. The delivery date they gave me on the phone was the 24th.

I was ready to cancel this morning so I call up my agent. He is still not there, Imagine that, they must have a flag the pops up when my number calls that says foo? Anyways after voicing my frustration about having my order canceled and re-ordered and listening to there excuses I was biting my tongue.
I then simply asked what can you do for me to keep me from canceling my order? Not my fault you web admins can code the website correctly. You canceled my order Without my consent and put me a month out? Now your offering a free headset and mouse as well as an $25.00 gift card on select BR drives! I was told that I could get them if I canceled again and re-ordered. Remember I had originally called to cancel so I was Not going to let it go. After going through many "can I put you on holds" the Resolution Specialist finally got on the line. Most pleasant American voice :) said I will be happy to take care of that for you without canceling your order. Success finally... So I got the Headset, Mouse and $25.00 credit to my account. Next Day shipping and order is marked high priority and could ship in a week.
    We shall see ;)

^ Dude, not to bust your bubble, but that same BS was promised to me twice already ... (( and yet I've ran into the same story, my order was delayed twice and then canceled without any consent and/or explanation.

This being sad, I'll be on my final "re-order" tomorrow , where I was promised: 14% (comes from EPP and DPA combined together) off discount of my total, Alienware's Headset & Mouse along with next day shipping and the "expedited: process.

*** C'mon DELL ppl, I had "0" problems ordering and waiting for my car to be shipped from Germany and we're talking about a laptop here ... How more frustrating can it really get ?!

Well, FedEx updated the Delivery Date to Wednesday. I'm happy, but not sure if I'll be able to pick it up or not... hopefully family can sign for it. I see no reason they couldn't.

EDIT: Is it bad that the reordered laptop is going to show up the same time that the first one got delayed to? Really glad I reordered now.

I intially ordered my m17x on the 27th of October, then got delayed and cancelled and reordered on the 12th of December for an estimated date of the 3rd of December. Im so displeased with dell, this system was supposed to be at my home for thanksgiving. I spoke with the CSR and he was very helpful, I know its not there fault because there is different sections that do different things but why do we have be punished for the lack of supply for our systems :( .

I canceled my order today and placed it through business services. I got free overnight shipping, a free mouse and headset, and lowered the cost by about $500. I reconfigured a couple of parts and ordered some better stuff through Amazon, including the Intel x25-m SSD and 4gb of Kingston hyper-x ram.

Yeah after learning from Mandrake regarding the Samsung SSD's I'm not really unhappy that I ended up canceling. Now I have the Intel 128gb and a 7200rpm 500gb drive as storage.

1st I wanna say thanks for all the good intel, I have been lurking but decided to jump in. I am having lil problem with order, I ordered on oct.16 a m17x black dual 280's and estimated delivery date was, Nov.6 than week went buy, and got a delayed delivery date til Nov. 13 well another week went by and another delay to Nov. 13. Well this morning I decided to call and find out what was goin on and when I got thru another delay and this on has an estimated delivery date of Dec. 1 so that would be 6 weeks from order time. I am sitting staring at COD mw2 and other games ready to roll. They upgraded my shipping gave me a mouse and headphones but would really like a bump in memory or graphics. Actually I just want the product I paid for. They said the hold up is my processor because it is on back order. Anyone else n the same window of ordering I am and having probs.

Just got off the phone with dell, still great customer service despite the delay. the order processing time is the real killer, the finance department still has to go through its 48hr security checks for the funds, it "should" show my status tomorrow as of a'in production" which from what they told me should be expedited. I really hope this is the end of this horrible nightmare it really is draining me worrying about a a pc. damn thing better be worth it.

How long does it take from when you receive your unit to actual boot up time and getting new drivers put on your PC. Did anyone need to call dell for their first set up of the unit.

My replacement unit went into boxing today. I'm guessing it will be a Monday arrival.
