*OFFICIAL* M17x Order Status Thread...

I'm still trying to fill back order reps with you....

A couple weeks ago I ordered some hard disks from Dell on a Sunday and received a tracking number that night. It was earlier than 10pm. It happened around 6pm CST.

 

All I know is you had BETTER do a FULL UNBOXING WITH ABOUT 50 PICS if you get your system on Tuesday

 

Do you want my unboxing pictures too ?

yep that's right I just told the guy my credit card info and they do it on the spot. I remember when I wanted to order a M17 the alienware rep,when dell just bought alienware, so basically the dell rep told me that he would get commission and that my order would go straight to the build stage if the payment goes through because basically I wanted to buy online for security reasons

 

Yep. And those people in the back of the queue got hit with a ten day backorder of the black chassis (if you ordered that). That turned a two day delay into almost two weeks of delay. The worst part about it is that Customer 'Care' wants you to be happy about it.

 

Still wondering if the black chassis is causing the problem here in Europe too.

 

I have 2nd day so the earliest possible would be Wednesday.

 

My order finally shipped on Friday for all those that were curious. I'll keep you posted on what I find out.

Thank Huey I may be in boxing too since I ordered the first day but we'll see when it comes :/

 

This surely can't be true? If it is, how the hell can they get away with that? Btw, still in pre-production and I ordered the system within 1 hour of launch. Go figure.

 

It's just a rumor. I ordered via EPP online and I'm in "boxing" stage. I think people are getting paranoid and/or a little too... uh, desperate for their new machines yet.

I don't think people should worry until their estimated shipping date comes and goes and they still don't have their laptops. "Boxing" stage could mean anything, and people are over-reacting just a bit to this information.

 

Isn't pre-production where they verify your payment?

No. After you're payment has been verified you get into pre-production. Normally you dont stay there long, sometimes this stage is skipped and you get into production directly.
I'm in pre-production now for 9 days already, simply because 1 component is missing. At least that is what the reps manager told me last Friday.

Im from Europe though so the situation might be different for you guys in the USA.

 

Are there ANY customers outside the US in the boxing stage yet??

 

Well I ordered through telephone on the 2nd day and I'm still in pre-production.
I am from Europe though.

 

I guess not, like I said earlier customers outside USA are playing second fiddle in this.

 

So where are you guys checking the order status??? When I call they(computer) tell me its processing (Should i ask a rep?).... When I check on-line it says "in-production"??? So... where is my computer???

 

Hopefully everyone who ordered early will get bumped up to the boxing stage on Monday.

I'm aware I'll get it before my EDD but I'm bothered about people who ordered after me getting them before me when my payment was processed straight away. Something is definetely array in Europe. >.>

 

The last I heard on Friday was that a component was missing. They couldn't tell me which component though. So I somehow get the feeling that the factories which produce the m17x for Europe are getting the parts late, at least later than the factories which produce for the USA.

Since some of you guys don't get it, I'll make a list of my theoretical priority list for dell:
1. USA consumers ordering through an agent
2. USA consumers ordering through the website
3. Foreign consumers based on their manufacturing plant and it's supplies

Did your order ever leave the build stage according to the phone? This is what i'm hoping some of our issues are, that we truly are in boxing/shipping stage just phone status was not updated properly.

 

yes every body is discussing but he people who are like OMG my lapop is only being built why dont i hve the laptop yet it was released a whole 10 days ago !!!!! they only had to make 200,000 and ship them all over the world on top of the other 500,000 laptops...

why is it taking so long to make 700.000 laptops

When I checked the website, the laptop never left production, and then it sudden changed to shipped. When I called in, it never left processing. However, I'm sure Dell Alienware is working as fast as they can to cover all the orders. Be patient and you'll be surprised.

To be honest, I usually check the computer system over calling 90% of the time. I use calling as a last restort lol.

talked to the guy that said 3-4 weeks he said these for sure will start shipping this week. prob later in the week for most that are in boxing. he said they are telling him they are a week ahead of schedule which is amazing for dell lol.. he also said to be on the lookout for a coupon possibly coming soon this was mentioned to him on friday.. but he said they didnt say there will for sure be one but it was mentioned at a meeting he was at

 

Where would the coupon be posted (techbagains, etc)?

 

that he didnt say. he did know all about nbr and said if anywhere it should be here as well as anywhere else.. but he thinks it will be for previous dell owners and dpa member something they will get via mail or email etc.. again nothing set in stone but it was mentioned to include the new alienware system..

i know im waiting till a few people get them i want to see real world pics of the silver vs black right now i really like the silver but i may change my mind once seeing real world shots of it know what i mean
