Just got off the phone talking to my rep. It seems that all m17x's that have been ordered here in the Netherlands are still all in phase 2: pre-production.
And they don't seem to get any further at the monent. It might also be a European parts problem?

    The plot thickens.

I am from the Netherlands. There are two production facilities here in Europe (Limerick-Ireland and Lodz-Poland) but:
Mine will be produced in China!

Not yet, but will be soon. Still strange that a product for the European market will be built in China, when there are facilities in Europe.
I wonder how this will affect time between shipment and delivery.

Well just got some more information from a lady on the order status department here in the Netherlands.
There is an additional Lead-time of about 20 working-days up on the normal delivery time.

If still possible I'm gonna cancel this order simply because I'm tired of waiting and because my rep has been telling me a different story every time I talked to him.

    m17x bye bye!

There's three factories in production for Dell, in Europe; Poland, Ireland and one more. I did write a post on it but I have no idea where it is now and I can't seem to search for it. =/

There's no problems with parts and nothing is on backorder. I've been told that by every rep I've spoken to which is around 15. I just got off the phone with a Dell rep who has now told me my laptop is being produced in Ireland (a rep I spoke to last week said it was being done in Poland). She was unable to confirm how many factories were in production for Dell's European orders. She also added that it only takes them 4 hours to put the laptop together and so my M17x should reach be much earlier than my current EDD of 6th July. She also said she'd enquire as to what was going on with my order and why it was still in pre-production then send me an e-mail to let me know what exactly is going on.

Well something is holding them back somehow. Otherwise it wouldn't be in pre-production for so long.
My rep just told me that mine iwill be produced in China.

Welcome to NBR. Did you call the number in the first post of this thread to see where in production you are? (assuming you're in the US)

Anyway, here's hoping that my system moves into boxing soon!

geez, now we need to remember that GTX 260M is below a GTS 260M. Can't they at least go into the 300 range to make it less confusing?

I knew that those GPU's listed were not as powerful as ours, but they are built of the new 200 core architecture and use GDDR5.

So, it's only a matter of time before one does come out that is fast than the GTX 280M.

Well - either your reps or my reps are misinformed. (Which wouldn't surprise me since some of the early ones said nothing was wrong either.) If nothing is backordered for mine then why am I not in the boxing stage like the half-a-dozen or folks here who ordered 2-3 days after me?

Wow - You have the same esd date as me and I ordered the morning of the first day it was available.

I just got a call back from the rep's manager. He had heard about my plan to cancel the order.
This is what he told me:

with a new system here seems to be a RTO (Ready To Order) and a RTS (Ready To Ship) time. Unfortunately for the BeNeLux, or perhaps entire Europe the RTS has not been reached yet. So we have to wait till the production que has been filled, and then all the computers can be built, tested, boxed and Shipped in one run. So I just have to be patient and wait until the que has been filled. It could be any time now, but it also might take another week. :(

Well, I just got a call from a representative in Round Rock. He explained that my order has been held up because the SKU number for the TV Tuner card was wrong on the website when i ordered. So now they have split my order into two parts; The main notebook and the TV card. The only thing is that this means that it's moved back into processing (ugh). I was afraid to even ask when he thought it might be shipped. He did say that they would rush it as much as possible.
Fortunately he gave me his direct phone extension and email so I don't have to deal with Customer 'Care' anymore. Not that they EVER said anything about there being a problem with the order itself let alone the tv card. The only things they ever told me was that 1) nothing was wrong at all or 2) it's being delayed because of the black chassis.

You know - even with this delay I am back to being excited about this Notebook. Having to deal with the support had sucked all the fun out of it...

Anyway, If you ordered the TV card you might be in the same boat as me. I don't know when they fixed the numbers on the website but if you ordered the morning of the first day it was available - that was when I ordered.
