Hi,
I see you have the P8600 replaced with an QX9300? Are you gonna change the CPU yourself? Because I ordered mine with a Q9000, which is the cheapes option here in the Netherlands. My ETA is July 15th btw.
Im planning to replace the CPU too with a QX9300. I got one laying around here.
-
-
If you have a QX9300 already, why did you pay for the Q9000 upgrade?
-
-
Ah, I lack reading comprehension in the morning.
-
Man, I wish there was Alienware stores around here, I gotta wait to 8/1
I ordered yesterday and it says EST time 7/8 NY, Aramex base. And Aramex gunna take forever to ship it to here.
And NY tax are high, 180 bucks, man! -

I talked to Alienware CS last week and they informed the system will be shipped in 2-3 weeks, though shipping date is not displayed now after configuring the machine. Since I will be leaving Germany by June end, planning to place an order thru my friend in NY.

im itching to place a order...
-
Ker-ordered. 1920x1200, 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM and a 500GB HD (for $75? How could I say no). Everything else is stock, as I'd like to upgrade CPU/GPU later, but for now, I'm content. <3
Now, I guess the hard part is selling my m9750 to help fund this puppy. -
OK, I'm finally officially in. Stayed as close to my self imposed $3K limit as I could.
-
Welcom, Mandrake... Welcome!
-
Thanks, I asked about the which SSD comes with the system but he didn't know. He just said they usually come with Samsungs. I didn't bother asking any other question after that.
-
I really hope this purchase is worth the money, as you can see in my sig my order is well decked out. I never bought from alienware before due to all the bad consumer reports i read and the fact they have an F consumer rating. But since i have had good experiences with dell personally and at work, i decided to give it a shot this time since dell is making the new m17x's.
If it turns out to have troubles like i read about in the past, i'd be ticked at myself for not listening. I am licking my lips though itching to turn it on the first time.

Read the thread of the guy who spent that much but his system is going in for repairs constantly. Besides depreciation and the fact I upgrade rather quickly, the fear of getting a lemon will always stop me from spending that much.....at least initially. If I'm very happy with it I will put more money into it. Same theory applies to the warranty. -

The 128GB is an older model SSD with lower read and write speeds (using an older samsung controller). -
Alienware-Rose just replied to my PM stating that the ship dates are set for 7/2/09.
So we might be waiting a while after all -
-
^^^^^^ this man speaks the truth -
I was so upset. -

I think that it doesn't matter if you ordered on the first day, or next week. Seems these systems won't begin to building until mid-June (which would make the July 2nd ship date seem reasonable).
EDIT: Yes, Dell requires an indirect signature (either on file or someone at your business/residence needs to sign for it). -
Has anyone else tried that 800 number to try to get their production status? 1-800-433-9014? It wasn't very specific when I did it. -
It used to give detailed info. Maybe none of our systems have actually gone to the Build Stage.
That might be why it still says Order Processing.
EDIT: That phone status is for US customers only. -
Just sent and email to my contact at Dell (he works soley with the XPS team and is a high-level guy) requesting some info on lead times for the M17x.
I'll keep you guys posted..... -
Yeah let us know sleeyo, thatd be awesome.
-
Well, I guess I will have to make due with the 128GB since that is what I got. Hopefully it isn't TOO slow -
I decided to join the ever growling order status list.
Ordered: 6/1/09
Estimated Delivery: 6/30/09
Status: Production -
Ordered: 6/4/09
ETA: 7/7/09
Status: In production. -
I really hope it arrives before 6/27/09 and I will be in heaven -
I think it will arrive a lot earlier than those preliminary ship dates, those are just in place to give them time. The notebook just came out so it gives them a comfortable amount of time just in case something comes up which would delay the m17x's.
-
Ordered mine in Holland on 06/03/09
Phase 2 Preproduction since today
ETA 07/15/09
Waiting, waiting, waiting........ -

Soo sad, even my signature was wrong.
