ya but back in june there was way more demand. and my specs are pretty much basic. i noticed a lot of the orders back in june took a lot longer than the 1s previously put in around mid to late july

this is true, but i believe dell still states their "in production" phase can last up to 15 days. I don't believe this is lowered yet. But as others have said their estimated time is always more than it will actually take. Most likly yours will probably hit boxing this week and ship next week i would guess unless there are delays.

 

wow 15 days... jeez lol. ya im hoping that it wont take that long. i feel stupid for ordering a m1730 but glad i cancelled it.. wish i had this ordered at the time i had the m1730 in production

According to everything I've read and heard, the M17x is being delayed due to the WUXGA screen. I didn't even order that screen and my order has been delayed 3 times! I called and found out that it had something to do with the motherboard. All I have to say is it had better be here before the 16th of August!

Hi guys..... i ordered my M17x on 23rd..... my specs: intel q9000, 4gb ddr3, 250gb hdd @7200rpm, sli gtx 280m. i called the 800 number to see what phase of "in production" my laptop is in.... it has been in the build phase for over 4 days now.... is that normal? how long did ur orders stay in "build"?

 

They can stay in the build phase for 15 days, most people have been getting theirs within two weeks time from order to delivery. They only ship out once or twice a week, so expect them to be in the boxing phase for a day or two unless you are lucky.

 

yes this is normal, the Inproduction phase can last up to 15days including build/boxing time. as i've said before i was in build for 16days before mine went into boxing.

 

Ordered mine on 7/16 and according to Fedex they will deliver it 7/29. Not a bad turn around time at all. I can't wait!

 

13 days from order to delivery..... i would be glad if i can get mine that quickly

I should have my M17x tomorrow! I am wondering what are the times where Fedex will deliver? I ordered with Express Next Day shipping. The fedex page says by 4:30pm but it does not say how early then can sneak by my house?

 

any delivery company will be there when they get there, unless you have a guaranteed delivery, and dell dose not use that 8 )
but if you have had things delivered by fedex in the past, he should show up around the same time. if you know that.

I only use UPS traditionally =( I have no clue what the time frame is for delivery. I am looking for a starting and ending time slot. IE 8am-4:30PM?

 

i think its normaly 7am to 7pm.
But its hard to say, almost every rout is different.

 

I'm not getting the 280m sli. i'm going to get the 260m sli.

Dadah your really changing your ways lately between buying a machine you will have to wait for them to build to not getting the 280s ? You got a cold or something ? .

 

yeah that 300 hundred price killer is the difference between thurdays and 2 months from now. august is strictly saving for school and i'm not going to let nothing get in the way of that. (but you already know which one i would of chosen if it wasn't)

by fall if newer gpu's don't come out, i'm sure i can get one from the sager resellers and i know there are a bunch of people that bought a single 260m that would mind sli.

but i just want 280m sli and a 1920*1200 screen but my budget is 2,200 including tax and shipping. that's my max.

i would go for the sager but no overclocking.
(mmm now that i think about it it's 2000 for 280m sli and 1080p lcd....mmmmm)

i said the same thing. i thought they would of had a better bios then the m17x hoesntly i though sager would of had a boss(that's my new word lol) bios over the m17x. but it's clearly the other way around.

 

I bet they will unlock the bios in time but ill also be willing to bet its more like a 1x 2x multiplier thing and not like the M17x at all .

This amount of user control causes massive headaches for Dell/alienware since its not so cut and dry as a 1x 2x scenario but im grateful they gave it to us.

Back to the topic glad to see the systems are shipping super fast now for everyone your sure gonna love it .

I plan to stumble into town after I sign for my M17x and show it off to my coworkers at the fun filled Geek Squad. At which point I'll buy a ton of games with my discount and then go back home to hide in my cave and pretend my GF doesn't exist while I play with my new laptop. And by that I mean keep her away from it as she breaks electronics with her female clumsiness.

Well, well, well - mine's arriving/delivered on thursday (could have been today if the courier company had some balls).

got the TV Tuner today as it had to be shipped seperately can't wait!! am going to go to bed at 8pm on wednesday evening!!!!

 

The laptop went into boxing stage last night! getting excited. any ideas on how long i might be waiting considering its a bit early in the week?

any idea on how long boxing took?

 

Dell States boxing can take 1 to 3 days. Took 4 for me. This stage includes the time it takes from being shuttled from the manufacturing plant to your country's local dell shipping location.

 

I ordered on 7/16. I entered boxing on 7/22. I moved to shipped 7/24. My tracking # actually went to my order (as opposed to someone in FL) on 7/27, with a delivery date of 7/29.

That evening (still 7/27), after I went to bed, it finally updated with a location. This morning (7/28) I checked it and saw the location updates (it moved twice in the night), AND I saw that the deliv. date was now 7/28, today! As of 7:18, it is on the truck, out for delivery!!! And I'm at work...

Edit: Sorry I got side tracked. Simple answer: I was in boxing for 2 days. Also, FedEx (@ least w/ my 3-5 day shipping) doesn't do squat over the weekend.

 

well I am shipping, FedEx did pick it up, late in the day but did, so my laptop is less than 1,125 miles from its final destination...that's about 17 hours of driving, couple of breaks and processing... so I am right on the scheduel for thursday

Mine as well! I am currently hunting the Fedex guy trying not to fall asleep.

 

Do you have overnight or just standard shipping ? i made the mistake of thinking they both come on the same trucks . The overnight guys drive the trucks with the Orange letter and standard shipping is the one with Green lettering . So if you see a fed ex truck pass by and not stop dont start freaking out .

 

I got free shipping so I assume standard shipping. Even though it basically took 1 day to get from shipped to on truck for delivery. Luckily I had the day off from work.

 

So quad did you ever successfully overclock your q9200.. I was thinking of getting it too but if it can't oc I'm not so sure anymore.

 

Nope never had any luck with it . Im getting a Qx9300 today though . I need to make sure i get the SLI cable issue worked out though before i even drop in a processor which is coming today as well. If the cable doesnt work im going to either return my machine and reorder or request a replacement. If i reorder now though i can save a few hundred bucks and get an upgrade or 2 .
