Seems like the US reps have had some knuckles rapped for offering big discounts. Dell US seem to have tightened up on new machine discounts from what I can gather......Brother Kev being the exception to the rule! LOL (way to go, Kev :thumbsup

 

please not now, I need a bigger discount for AW18 T_T

 

My order went like this:
I chatted a rep. Told him i wanted these specs but had to be under 1500 usd to fit on my DPA
So they knocked off -100, and made it 1498 usd
Then i have a 10% Coupon from a BBB complaint. Knocking another 150 off bringing it down to 1348.
Then i was upset at the duration. I was going to cancel. Told them i had buyers remorse. Straight up. I called in, they knocked another 75 off bringing it to 1263 USD.
I chatted them today asking about it and about shortages. They offered me a 70 dollar coupon.

So in summary:
It cost me $1263 USD plus 5% GC Coupon and a $70 Coupon offer plus free NBD shipping.

 

Well I mailed them back, basically saying that the discount is a joke...I'll let u guys know their response.

 

If only I have a 10% coupon like that -_- and 5% GC for what item?

 

If you sign up for some dell advantage (free program) they email you deals and they give you a 5% GC of your purchase value.

 

That is more than I got.
A rep finally said that if I could send her the odder # from someone who got a discount she could try to get it for me too.
If someone bought a 17 with a 1080p and 780m pls pm me.

 

The sales rep haven't contacted me again ever since lol -_-

anyway I still don't get it how this order work..

Rep contacted me - negotiate price
then the sales rep will note my order? to dell account?
then I make payment via web from order that are noted in my account? ( so I can apply dell advantage?)

and can I complaint if the sales reps didn't contact me again? LoL

What was the order date on your replacement? Mine is 6/24 but it still is in pre-production.

 

I've been "In Production" since the 19th, but apparently my order is being expedited due to having waited so long for a replacement laptop. (But I was in production from the moment I received my order number - so I don't know how much stock to put in that)

Their response to the BBB case was effectively "STFU we'll give you what we feel like". Not exactly what I was hoping for...

 

Basically you need to keep it open as long as you can and tell the BBB you aren't pleased with Dell's response.

An open case doesn't mean good things happen for that rep.\

I would contact the BBB tell them you received a Lemon and that the GTX 765M doesn't have the GPGPU performance of the 6970m. And that they aren't offering you a fair replacement for your machine. Sure its a fair one for gaming, but not for your needs.

If you receive a lemon i believe they will either be obligated to refund your purchase or give you something comparable. If it is not comparable and you can prove that you basically win the internet.

 

Mine is expedited as well. My replacement was after having a tech come onsite that broke the laptop (no clue what he was doing and they wouldn't send me the parts or let me work on it) and then sending to the depot and receiving it back broken, then another failed onsite attempt. I was hoping to have it soon but i was told don't expect it to go into production status before the 10th and don't expect a ship date before the 15th.

 

Well it's not like I'm inclined to close it right now... So yes, I'll be keeping it open until I at least get closer to parity with my current machine. Even if it just means a 4800MQ and 770m, as that would both bring the processor up to parity and make it easier for me to bring the GPU up to speed aftermarket. (The 765m comes with a 180W power brick, and any 100W GPU requires a 240W brick)

 

Is it too late to cancel your order COMPLETELY?

The 14 looks nice. One thing, not a huge issue, is that I noticed that Dell have again insisted on slapping the stickers on the palmrest.....why, oh, why.....just more work to take 'em off and move 'em underneath or into the battery compartment....

 

I just saw the pictures, and since I can't take any better pictures I will only make pictures of what's requested, so if anyone would like something photographed just say so I will download HWmonitor now and play some crisis 2 on ultra, and then I wil post my temps!

 

Overclocking results would be awesome too <3

I am sad to report that I won't buy Alienware. Afterall the Clevo still looked like I get better bang for my buck (i7-4800MQ for example), and it was cheaper. Afterall spending €2600-€2700 on a laptop seemed a bit over-the-top for me. However I would like to thank everyboy for their help.

Wow.... seeing that everyone's systems are starting to get shipped, I'm getting more hyped to get mines. Hopefully it will ship soon.

 

Just looking at AW17 config option again, it seems they now have added the options for windows 8 pro as well as home premium.

Can anyone think of any good reason to get the pro version at £60 difference?

Also, realistically speaking, is there a major performance difference between a 3Gb/s & 6Gb/s SATA HDD?
It seems the only way to get a 6Gb/s HDD is to also upgrade the mSATA to a 256GB at a £150 difference.

Last question, for a cash strapped buyer insisting on the 120hz panel, is the 770M good enough? Or will the 3d screen perform better with the 780? Does anyone even know if the 120hz panel needs more system resources than the 60hz?

2. You will get a quote number. Take this to dell.com./qto and you can complete checkout yourself. The quotes stay valid for 3 days i was told.

Next you will receive an email with your EDD and your order will be on their website for you to check the status

"Razer’s decision to outfit the Blade with a cheap TN (twisted nematic) panel is disappointing, doubly so when you consider the resolution of the 14-inch display is limited to 1600 by 900 pixels (although that’s better than what Alienware delivers on its new 14-inch model, which also uses a TN panel)."


What mountain cave did they come from??? Don't they know the AW 14 can also be upgraded to a 72% color gamut FHD/1080p IPS Matte Display?

 

I ordered my AW 14 on 6/11, and it's still "in production". My Dell rep said it would be built soon, but I take it with a grain of salt.
I hope mine ships soon. EDD is 7/18. I'm moving in 3.5 weeks, and it'll be a pain if it gets shipped after I leave.

Apparently not. It is just one more example among countless examples of worthless "professional" reviews by unprofessional and ignorant reviewers. Can't let it bug you too much... it's just the way it is, and has been for a very long time. If incompetence were rare, the competent people would not be such a valuable commodity.
