Neaaaaaaarlly. Neeeeearrrlly.... Lol. Eugene, you're gonna get this via the Dell web store or retail?
-
Guilty.
-
Welcome to the right side. hehehehe
-
I just hope when they say global release, they mean it. It's gonna be a long weekend
-
True that. I wish i could get it now. Anyone tried wringing a Dell salesperson yet?
-
This was mentioned earlier in the thread. So hopefully it's true.
-
Dell AU says Feb 3rd but that's probably due to the time zone difference. Everything's lining up nicely.
-
As i said, find a computer with better specs and these dimensions:
11.3 inches (w)
8.2 inches (d)
4 pounds
just about 2 inches less in width then my wife's S-XPS 1340, which is a 13.3" screen. this is definatly note running in the same size category as a 13". -
Surely it would be nice to have the Core i series but that wasnt the plan I guess.. People were just speculating about the ULV Core i series..
Even then, Alienware could have already thought about using Core i series.. around november-december timing. I believe the reason that AW would be sticking with the Core 2 Duo SU7300 is definitely for the battery life.
This machine is not a full fledge gaming machine. We can wait for a refresh I guess for those who wants the Core i Series
I'm very impressed with its performance for such a portable machine. -
I'm stubborn. And I want mah alienware m11x. Maxxed out. Regardless of what you sceptics and "I want dah laaytest teck" people think.
You might get slightly better specs with regards to the CPU but GPU? No way. And besides, there's something to owning an AW that doesn't come with having an ASUS or an Acer -
If it is those dimensions and not 1.5" thick I will buy one in a heartbeat. I think it has already been proven it is not those dimesnions though. You can look in the video and see it is bigger than a magazine which is 8.5x11.
-
I'm the one who estimated 11.3"x8.2". As has been noted, the estimate did not take into account the hinge or the front are which protrudes past the lid. The (most likely) correct dimensions were given with the "official" specs: 11.3" x 9.2" x 1.29" if I recall correctly.
-
Same here! Maybe we might be the 1st few Sarawakians having the Alienware M11x
Don't have to carry my Acer 6935G anymore to campus
Everyone at lecture hall or cafeteria would be eyeing the Alienware
-
Yea we went through this already LOL I think we need to wait until it's actually on Dell's site to see the dimensions. The other "official" dimensions said 1.5" thick...
-
Yawns. Anything tinier and lighter than my old Dell Studio 1537 with that much horsepower I would hop on in an instant.
-
Dell Online or retail? Its like everyone has cheap acer netbooks (i sell those by the fours and fives, just sold 5 at one go yesterday) and stuff and you dig out this 11 inch AW and start fraggin on MW2. That would totally own.
-
Fantastic, my wife has offered to buy my Macbook from me, you can't get a faster sell than that!! And it was negotiation free! Bliss
-
Pheweeet! Awesome. Express convert. Bet an ASUS can't do that.
-
You have alot of choices then!
-
Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!! You may have sold your MacBook, but at what cost? AT WHAT COST?
-
This alienware being top of all of them.
-
Is there a slim portable Blu-Ray drive that would compliment this laptop nicely?
-
Why? The screen is only 720p. Unless you want to hook it up to an external monitor?
-
LOL Yea, I am still thinking about getting one, I already told my nephew I would give him the 1201n so now I am going to feel really bad if I keep it! I just don't know what to get anymore. Maybe I get a Sony Z!
-
Awwww. Lucky nephew of yours. Go for that if you have the dough and don't mind the incessant overheating. Some PC's have awesome specs but they just aren't designed to be gaming machines, just over glorified and horribly overpowered media machines. So I'm sticking to the AW.
-
Nah, I was joking, If I used it alot then I could justify the cost and would certainly go for the Sony but sadly as little as I use a laptop (like once or twice a month) I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on it. I will probably end up with the Alienware or the Asus.
-
I like to watch movies on my laptop on trips and I'm starting to collect more Blu-Ray Disc then regular ones.
-
@bluehaze = I don't like those Taiwanese brands, have killed a grand total of 9 of such PCs from various taiwan brands in my 18 years of life.
@howard= Sorry can't help ya lol but one of em around here with more knowhow might. -

I think a USB powered blu ray drive would be a great companion to this
I use my M17x as a on-the-go blu ray player all the time -
I feel you on this, luckily most of the BD's I've bought recently have digital copies, so I'll be utilizing those on my M11x =D
can the first page be edited with all those links within the past 20 pages lol I keep trying to go back and find them so I can re-read and re-look at pictures like some freak, so damn obsessed.
edit. post 666, 688, Dell Community Blog are a couple -
And I've just remembered... Those who said this thread was going to die waaay back in page 4/5-ish should be eating their hats right?
-
Good lord, we have a 75-page "owner's" thread for a machine that hasn't even been released!
This thing has a lot of hype going for it, even if people wished it had an i7. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
you think this is bad, look at the Asus G73 thread haha, over 400 pages now I believe (not 1 shipped yet)
-
Howlie Cow. Lol. ASUS's gaming rigs are so... gaudily audacious. Makes alienware look delicate sometimes. Lol. Back to the matter at hand... I WANT ME M11X NOW! Lol
EDIT: Probably cause we m11x-ers are divided over 2 threads?
EDIT again: Damn that is one un-gaudy ASUS. But I'm still getting my AW. Hehehe
-
just to reaffirm to myself hehe, looks like next week's release of M11x will hold true given that the M15x, M17x refreshes are now ready, and another CES show item, their Optx AW2310 23" 1080P 3D screen is now ready for shipping.
Let's hope a surprise popup of the M11x over the weekend! That'd work for me best since I'll be working/busy throughout the workweek. -
HRAH! One by one, slowly but surely. Next week would be biiiig for me. I liek surprises too. Maybe early preorders?
-
The lid in one of the videos was different, possibly gray, but from certain angles it looked black, what color is it really? I would like it if the "gray" was more black, just not glossy, but if it is straight gray, idk.
-
few more days till m11x released ^^
-
As long as the grey ain't fingerprint friendly, I'm getting it. hehehehe
-
It couldn't get any closer. I want to be able to buy it upon release.
-
i think im going to just have to cave in
-
Unfortunately, we can't cave in yet since it's not available for purchase!
The sooner an order page is up the better. -
Anyone tried calling a Dell rep today?
-
i want one! i wonder if it will have its own custom external disc drive option
-
I just hope that this thing will have ZERO need for a cooling pad of some sort.
Do you hear me Dellienware?! -
And have our hopes crushed?? Never!
-
I just tried Alienware's number. They were closed and said to call back during "normal business hours".
You mean 1am isn't a normal business hour?
-
lol...
1 am is still business hour... "^^" at home i mean
-
I have been with Dell for the last 10 years, and I am so excited this will be my first Alienware if I get it at the right time; I currently have the Dell Latitude E4200 & looking to sell it to make room for the Alienware M11x. This is the perfect balance of portability & performance under a budget, talk about perfect timing.
I was only looking for a portable device like the iPad to save some money for a short while, but at that price hell with the iPad, I already got an iPhone
-
lets hope feb 2. anyone know if the ram is ddr3? hopefully 8 gigs available?
