We all are hopping for Feb 2, if not earlier![]()

"sometime feb" is the official statement so soon either way!

Not sure why 8GB of DDR3 RAM would help with an SU7300 but...
Well, would you see a performance differance?
That said, even though i've read through both the owners thread and the debut thread, has anyone mentioned if overclocking is supported? -
-
Nah I think 8GB would be really difficult to utilize with only a 1.3GHz CPU... even though its a dual-core.
If you were doing virtual machine or something maybe... but I still think 4GB is going to be just the right amount... Would be interesting to see the difference in benchmarks between 8GB and 4GB on the same M11x
EDIT: That doesn't sound the way I intended it to sound... you can definitely use up 8GB if you have some crazy-big programs running or virtual machines, but I don't think for the most part you will see a huge improvement beyond 4GB.
Thats better -
Raydiddi hasn't replied back yet. The machine must have been too awesome. Lol

. Sorry for taking a while to update the main post, I was busy preparing for the spring semester.
Anyway, if there's anything that I've missed, please let me know guys! Send me a PM and I'll do my best to keep this thread up to date! -

Faf !! u mean u dont like the idea of playing crysis in a firesuit ?!?!
EDIT: @ nuke - what was wrong with it ?
Question: are people expecting to be able to play Bad Company 2 on the m11x ? -
@ash = better edit that off before a mod dished out the smackdown.
@raydiddi = Zats a lotsa plastic. Wanted the Envy too but the price and the heat issues kept me away. Beautifully designed device though. -
most(all?) pentiums for sale now use a derivative of the core architectures(not exactly derivatives, but they implement most of the same features, just less efficiently)
pretty much, you're not getting 1990s tech, you're just getting what amounts to the prototype of last gen's tech. not great, but definitely not 6-years-old bad. -

It would probably clear the air on whether the CPU becomes a bottleneck of sorts.
-
*Edit* thanks for answer my questions people, appreciate it since I'm following this thread like it stole my baby.
another question to those current alienware owners. I was looking at a vid of the keyboard of hte M11x, next to F12 are two keys, one with a spaceship on it, and to the right of that one says AlienFX. What do each of those buttons do if they're on the M15/17x -
If it runs like a charm, then there's an even greater reason to buy it right?
-
to me the fact that there's no docking station for alienware is a killer... impossible to keep playing games in a 11.6'' for long hours...
-
You know, the kind they plug into desktops...
They fit in the M11x too. -
Amazing answer !
I read the thread everyday since it has been created
Just waiting for the bench and photos ! -
To all the people that are saying the difference between C2D and Core i7 is minimal and that the CPU is "irrelevant", who are you trying to convince? Yourself? There are a few members here (including myself) who will not be purchasing the M11x because it has a C2D CPU, and I know for sure that nothing will change our minds until a ULV Core i7 variant is released. So you can post and post until you're blue in the face, it's not going to make one little difference!
If you're trying to justify the purchase for yourself, then by all means, continue, but don't direct it towards us! We've made our minds up!
I want the fastest processor available. I won't just use my portable for playing games, I'd like to do maybe some video encoding / photo editing all with two or three programs open in the background; downloading, browsing the web, virus scanning, backup etc. For these tasks, I'd much prefer a dual-core HT Core i7 that turbos to 2.26GHz rather than a dual-core non-HT C2D that runs at 1.3GHz. Not to mention the 4MB cache vs 3MB, DMI vs FSB, 32nm vs 45nm... -

Hey guys look at this

Saw it on AlienwareBook in facebook.. -
thanks Eugene, I think that's for QVC themselves maybe they'll now be carrying AW products. No mention of M11x, but my guess is they'll be stocking that too and it'll be after the week so the M11x will have already been launched.
-
Next week. Next week. Next week. All points to next week.
-
I hope its February 3rd
hmm in Dell Malaysia means 4th February.. LoL
Due to the time zone difference.. i think.. lol.. -
Yea 16 hours difference. Will be scouting the Dell online store from the 2nd onwards.
-
Check Dell sites from the 2nd of Feb for M11x
It is a beast of a machine for the size. -
Dell doesn't charge your card until it ships right? Lol, my big payday is Feb. 5th, but I'll be wanting to place my order the day it releases.
-
Dell will charge you before it ships. System wont be downloaded until payment is confirmed.
-
-
Keep in mind stock is very limited on launch -
Holy cow halo where do you get your information???
EDIT: How soon can we expect the system if we order it the moment its put up and when will the order page be up? -
Stock is going to be very limited on release but should get it within 1-2 weeks.
I have full launch system specs here -
-
I have a question about the screen. Is it LCD LED like a lot of the netbooks today or is it LCD TFT? Does anyone know?
-
-
i just remembered an issue someone brought up earlier in the thread about recovery disks and i dont think anyone answered it yet...how will this work without a disc drive? i know the norm is for the recovery software to come preinstalled on the hard drive but what if the laptop fails to startup some day and you need to recover..

I actually had an Envy 15, the Canadian version they sold at Best Buy. I took it back twice because it just runs too hot. Not only do the wrist rests get extremely warm (uncomfortably so), the laptop vents out the left hand side. It's like having a space heater with you on the couch. Worse, at work it sat to my right, so it roasts me while I type!
Twice when I had to run to a meeting and didn't hibernate the system before sticking in my backpack it heated up so much that it shut itself down to avoid damage... in 8-10 minutes! I will admit I had it set to do nothing with the lid closed (don't hibernate) but it should still be able to survive in a roomy backup for 8-10 minutes!
It was powerful enough to run Age of Conan on low to mid settings though! Not bad. The M11X looks like it will score similar 3D mark points (based on its position on the notebookreview mobile video card ranking list), but with a lower resolution screen (better for gaming on fixed GPU power) and better form factor I'm glad I took my Envy back! -
