Alienware is located in Florida, and Dell in Texas. So it'd be either Eastern or Central time, not Pacific :) .

Of course, that 9am time is pure speculation on my part anyway.

I'm not saying the m11x isn't good enough but since this is the first new laptop that I have gotten in a long time (and one that needs to last a while for me) I want to keep my options open. I am very interested in the m11x but I don't want to be blinded by all the hype and led lights. :D

The m11x is also a bit flashy for me but I love the backlit keyboard and the size. I'm a little worried about the weight but I can live with it. I wish there was somewhere I could see it in person so that I would know that I would love it. But since I can't see it in person I'm hoping I can rely on this forum to give me good info about this machine so that I can make an informed decision.

    Don't you sleep Nuke?...lol
I think that some people might be expecting too much from this laptop.
It's not going to replace desktops or bigger more powerful laptops anytime soon.
I cycle through laptops pretty quick and about once a year I get me a new toy, I have a 17" laptop,15" laptop(both Clevos :) ) that are both vastly more powerful( SLI in one and both with QUAD core CPU's) but are just a pain to use when on the go, the M11x will fix that without sacrificing to much performance.

I wish I could get a new toy every year but this next one will probably (at a minimum) last a couple of years. I already have a house full of obsolete models but my kids can play with them so that's fine. I don't need a miracle machine but something portable that will play some games and handle other day to day stuff. I know it's not future-proof but I don't want overheating issues and other build issues as well. I just hope that it does live up to most of our expectations of great cooling and such. I'm so sick of laptops that want to burn my wrists and thighs.

L4D2 is a great game, the last part with the gas cans is a blast!
Errr...I hope I didn't ruin the ending for you.

I'm eagerly awaiting the release of this because I want to compare it to the Asus ul30vt. I know those aren't really trade offs, but I want something small with decent power for when I'm not up to bringing a 15+ notebook around the house with me. That must sound pretty lazy.

That's the million dollar question, how well it handles heat.
I did hear some Dell/AW reps say on some vid clips they focused on the cooling on this laptop and combined with the low-voltage CPU should be fine.
It's all speculation but after seeing the huge vent and fan on the bottom it looks good, we just need to get our hands on one.
I just hope it doesn't sound like a jet engine when the fan is blowing hard.

Yeah, the jet engine fan might be a problem if that's the case since I'm sure a lot of college age people will want this laptop. I'm sure the fan kicking it into high gear might be a big tip off to the profs that someone might not be just typing notes in class. :)

I'm also in the same boat, but I need to bring it to school. I'm mainly interested in what the standard configuration contains. It would be pretty pointless to call it the most powerful gaming notebook at its size if the standard configuration doesn't come with the GT335M. So I would assume the only upgrades you can make are the processor (SU7300 or higher), memory (4gb ddr3), and a SSD. The first two I hope wont amount to more than $100 :). I hope the Canadian price isn't too far from the US price.

I've clocked 50 hours into that game and 400 into the first soooo lol  Jobs here pay peanuts. I earn the equivalent of USD128 a month temping at a tech store, so go figure. Its too humid around here too Westerners usually don't last very long without complaining.

Pretty sure the GT335M is standard on the M11x, only configurable options we know so far are,RAM,HDD/SSD,and CPU.
    All starting at for $799.

I have both my studio XPS laptops pending refund approval as they both failed me in the first month... my wife and I are hoping that these are up to the hype as we both would love some small little machines that do what these are claimed to do.

Gotta build a new desktop rig too for PDXLAN in July so the next months are going to be a lot of fun I think.

    Hello all !

I wanted your opinion on a simple question : Is the m11x enough for what i do ?

I love playing games : L4D,L4D2, Mass Effect, Sacred 2, FEAR 2. I Only play theses games and I play them in a low resolution 1024x768 most of the time.

I have an external monitor 23 inch when I am at home and so I can work on a big screen. So the m11x enough to work at this resolution : 1920x1080

I love the world of linux : using compiz.

So m11x is good for me?

    Thanks :)

its a trick played by Dell Malaysia I guess.. You do realise customising lower price configuration to the exact specs of a higher prices configuration is cheaper by about RM100. Take the Studio XPS 1647 for example.. lol..

You should configure it yourself, then chat with the Online Dell Sales Agent and state the specs and price you customised. Then you ask for rebates and free gifts? LoL No harm to try..

I dont know if anybody did mention of HP dm3t? Anyway what surprise, looking at the HP Dm3t 13inch had same C2D like M11x does. The down side to that was that the hp only had a nvidia 100m. However will the 1.3 low voltage processor bottleneck the system?
