I don't think the iX processors are gonna make much difference, maybe 20% performance increase, but no way to know if they will make for shorter battery life (even UM iX processors eat 18 watts, the SU processors eat 10), or if they can be OCed like the SU ones (the OCed SU7300 already sees a 20% performance gain, so if you can't OC the iX processor then it would be about even with what you could get today with overclocking).

Plus, as sources in this thread stated a refresh is a minimum 6-8 months out, and perhaps longer.

This laptop will play all those games you mentioned with ease.

Huge overkill IMO, for the same $350 you would be better to get an SSD, as over 4 gigs you aren't gonna see much improvement with this processor and GPU.

I have seen links for it, but nothing direct on Dell's site. I called the sales rep and I asked for it. No reply back yet.

Yeah I got su4100, as long as I can overclock it it is probably best especially because Im probably going to destroy the cpu by overclocking anyway.

Then I may be able to get a replacement su9400 for all I know which would be great!

I think the 335m 1gb is a tad overkill for the SU7300, but I bought this because we can apparently safely and simply overclock it in the bios to 1.6ghz. That does not sound like much, but is HUGE for a dual core and better GPU parity as well as better results with MAME :)

It better overclock. My concern is the M11x reviewed was a prototype and it will be locked down when shipped.....Should I be concerned about this?

wow the games i only really intend to play on it ( minus CS:S but plus TF2) and i preordered one today!

judging from the few reviews that are out i think we can play all listed games maybe on high settings.... ok maxed out for CS:S but certainly not for dargon age, that game made my 8800gtx stop and think every now and then.

I don't think so, the OC option is very end user focused. All it does is raise the FSB to match the ram speed of 1066, and thus the processor gets raised to 1.66 Ghz. It isn't like normal OCing where the end user has to pick frequencies and voltages and everything. The M11X has a one size fits all OC option to increase to 1.66 Ghz, just a yes or no toggle, seems like it was very much designed to be in every laptop for anyone to use.

And honestly I am a bit surprised they wouldn't just turn it on for everyone all the time, which is what other companies like Asus do to get the 1.7 Ghz SU7300 processors.

Do you have a dell preferred account? If you do and you use it to pay for the order, it's suppose to be applied automatically. If it doesn't get applied, then you should be able to call a rep and they should be able to add it or something similar for you.

Li-Po's suck, I use them in my RC Helicopters, not what you want in a laptop.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-ion_polymer_battery

You over discharge, discharge too quick, recharge too soon, or maybe just get unlucky and it bloats and suddenly your notebook is a freakin bomb, especially with a big Li-po.

    Cool, thanks.

I think I'll go ahead and jump on one.

Is the Gobi something you can add in later?
