Thanks koala. Was dredging through news feeds at work (work at a tech store so boss doesn't mind as long as there isnt any work to be done) and tripped over that lol. Still hoping there's an i5 variant though.
-
i like the thread
after not checking for a day, it already exploded
same happened in the past with M17x and M15x...and alienware satisfied us with the release product
so, my speculations:
as the invented the M11x, i guess, around nov 09, the i3/i5/i7 wasnt available, so the CES product was C2D. if they release it with that, they will definitely lose customers (incl. ME) and reputation and DELL isn´t stupid, they have an idea about marketing
M11x: i5/i7 as an option, 2GB Ram, 320 or 500 GB HDD, GTS 335m (confirmed)
dont nail me down on that, just a speculation !!
i know, patience is a virtue, but let´s wait for a possible release next week -
Still prowling around the forum lol. hehehhe. The aussie retail version has 4gb RAM and 500 GB HDD standard though... Wish you're right fluus. Or maybe reality might just exceed our expectations again...
-
Thanks Nuke for that article. Feb 3rd launch day they're saying. I don't buy into the price tag too much, since I'm in the US I believe it'll be what Dell has stated, unless I want to up the components. Either way, I must wait...
-
Benefit of working at a tech store -> Browsing tech news is considered self-enlightenment. Apple's event is tomorrow. That and next week would probably determine which lappie i'll keep for my uni years lol. My dell studio 1537 was just too heavy to lug to college everyday....
-
i´m jealous, nuke, you obviously have time to refresh the page every 5 min
my wife looks at me like a gargoyle whenever i pass my PC to check whats new on NBR and M11x
let´s see, there were just some thoughts from my side, logical things, does it make sense to launch it with C2D ? NO
will there be a ssd ? NO, because of the price
4GB Ram ? maybe...isnt that expensive,
fact is, that they have to be under 1000$,
i5/i7 price ? almost same as a C2D
correct me if i´m wrong -
price wise, dell's profit rate on the i5 would be super duper high considering how much it costs for them to manufacture those parts, so I can see a 350gb HDD (not 500) and 2g ram and the core i5 (2.4ghz?) being their sub 1000$ and the 500gb HDD and 4gb ram (maybe dual 3gbs? for 6gb...idk) for the maxed out version I would be getting....any thoughts?
-
ok, fine with me
but i´m not sure, if there is space for 2 RAM sticks
i will get the cheapest HDD and upgrade it to ssd myself.
so here is my M11x dream
core i5/i7, 4 GB RAM, SSD and the promised 335m and that all at a 11" size -
I know this isn't the place, but thought you should know, from 7am to 7am today, dell is offering 400 $ off the m15x and certain other systems.
that means you can get these specs: intel core i7-720QM, NVIDIA GTX 260m, 1920x1080 (1080p) HFD, 8gb RAM @ 1333mhz, 500gb SATAII HDD @ 7,500 rpm.
For sub 2000$... I just filled out the order for that specific one, since my brother's bday is feb. 3rd and his mac broke...
just a thought... -
OMG, your m11x specs just made me need new underwear...
-
i like that underwear story.....
but on this thread
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=448975&page=83
it´s not sure about the i5there goes my dream
-
-
hey student, shouldnt you prepare yourself for turkey ??
it doesnt depend on the game "counterstrike", i´m old school, i do like serious sam during meetings and office hours
i´m just fixed on that idea of the M11x, but you are right with the 13", i have a netbook right now and i love it, even though it´s an 10", which i planned to give to my nephew -
yeah dont you have the ECS Q10 Netbook ?
Sell it and buy the m11x! -
from where do you know that ??
-

sorry for the delay, had to finish the order form.
brother's gonna be syched
also, I've checked your posts regarding the m15x and pictures of it and how long it will support the latest games.
Right now is the best time to buy it, since you have been considering, it will boast the next 5 years of games and more than that since it's easily upgradeable. -
-
I was about to get the M15x but now I am waiting for M11x since it looks promising. Hopefully as everyone over here is speculating, it should come with iX and it might seal the deal for me.
My games support question was regarding the M11x and not M15x. I already know that M15x is a powerful laptop and handle games easily
But I do agree with you about M15x. This deal is really good. -
quite clever, thats why you didnt mention anything in your profile
but you´re right, i wont sell it, my nephew deserves it, he´s a good boyand i wasnt home for his birthday, so my decision is already made..
obviously your brother deserves it too
anyway, getting last years technology in the M11x frustrates me a little bit or i was too much into my dream.... -
I really don't mind...as long as I can play some counterstrike and the occasional sandbox game on it during modern english grammar class...then I'm alright with core 2 duo...savvy?
sandbox= prototype, fallout 3 etc. -
how long do orders usually take to arrive from dell? and also will it be able to handle gta IV, mass effect 2? are blu ray drives as an option out of the question?..
-
so im guessing the 1.3 ghz core 2 duo wont cut it for bad company 2 huh?
well thank god for the Asus UL30JT -
I'm guessing at midrange customizing, the m11x could handle mass effect 2. and GTA IV is even easier to handle, maybe not at highest settings, but at a mode that it wont matter that much that you cant see someones pores in mass effect 2.
-
-
-
never mind
I heard ION2 is gonna include 310 graphics, so I feel that for a netbook to have the ability to get that kind of graphics card, bigger notebooks like the ul30jt should get something even better. -
I said it before....i5/i7 ULVs will not be cheap regardless of what Intel sells them for by the thousand to manufacturers. They are CPUs like the SP9300($284/1k) or SP9400($316/1K) which sold in notebooks ranging from $1200 to $2000 when they were new. -
also, I'm giving my alienware to my dad, and buying the new Origin EON18 with my new paycheck.
is that considered betraying AW? I don't think so...cause the founders of Alienware started up origin late last year... anyway...m11x ftw so far... -
-

-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
EDIT* BTW, It is not the founders of AW who started Origin, Just some long time employees. -
Crud... No i-series is a dealbreaker unless the new mbp refresh is a step backwards. Really want an alienware i can carry around and being asian, carrying anything bigger than 13 inch is hell. Me tiny only 170cm tall. hahahhaha
EDIT: On a truly depressing and unrelated note, Apple tablet confirmed. http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/26/mcgraw-hills-ceo-confirms-apple-tablet-debuting-tomorrow/ -
-
And before i forget thanks for the rep!
-
Is it normal for Alienware/Dell to wait this long to release the specs for its computers? Might this be a sign that the M11x release date will get pushed back?
-
EDIT: Its slated to go on sale in retail in Australia mid-Feb so I'd doubt the Aussies will get it before the US and the rest of the world rite? -
-_- If it wasn't for that darn Intel China page which you'd think with all logicality was reputable or correct on their info we wouldn't even have so many people going to be bummed out there's no i series. Yes it's dissapointing and yes I will once again continue evaluating my options (I guess a "slim" notebook with Alienwares aggressive lighting with an i series wont be happening anytime soon) I'm still hooked on it and will more then likely pick it up. If I do for once I can make some hands on contributions for this lovely forum ^^
-
I'm with ya nobodyshero. Although disappointed, if it can do what it's been advertised to do, then it's still a solid machine, maybe not as future-proof as I was hoping, but hell I don't hang onto laptops very long =D
-
-
No chance AW releases a i5 M11x as a region specific laptop.
-
it's a typo they most likely meant the i5 520um which would work in the m11x as it's a culv and comparable to the su7300 we know is an option.
-
-
maybe they dont release it with the i series because of battery life
thats they only thing, which makes sense to me, otherwise it´s a sales desaster releasing last years technology, when all other competitors on the market get the new ones
so, the most powerfull alienware isn´t powerfull anymore -
Lose/lose situation? More powerful, sacrifice battery life. Less powerful, gain battery life. Goodness knows what dellienware are thinking.
-
When I saw pics of the m11x the screen doesn't look proportional to its size. Its rough too guess with pictures but its like ... under the screen you got like 1-2 cm which contains the alienware logo, normaly above that logo you should have the screen. In this laptop, you don't, you get another 1.5-2 cm of plastic above the logo.
I don't minding paying 1000-1200€ for a portable, but its screen is really not my thing. i'm also looking for a portable atm, and when I pay that much I want atleast a decent 13 inch screen (yes we already discussed this would make the m11x too big).
I would probably even be disapointed if I would buy a 10 inch netbook for 259€ (the asus 1001ha + a free dvd writer for that price here in Belgium),
I can't imagine how disapointed I would feel when paying 1000€ more, for 1 extra inch.
I think i'll wait untill a few youtube vids and real pics are released though, in the 1 vid I saw the m11x looked awesome, in the pics from the alienware site the screen looked like it was a small piece of lcd surrounded by oversized plastic edges...
ps: to answer your question: I'm not leaving for istanbul untill sunday, so I got plenty of time left to gather together some clothes and a toothbrush ^^ -
http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/27/is-this-the-apple-tablet/ No MBP updates. Youch. Means I will have to last the year on either the old MPB or the nerfed M11x...
-
The Asus UL30JT looks quite good. Will have a closer look at it.
