hum, that's what i thought, i think i'd be better off with the 6700HQ GTX1070, i don't think the 6820HK boost is Worth the wait AND the heat/throttling, thanks for your help, i won't wait for KabyLake either as it doesn't seem like a real upgrade.

The most interesting parts are native USB 3.1/TB3 support and much improved 4K decoding. We should see the proliferation of USB-C and TB3 rapidly increase after kabylake, more so with Apple's push for the specification. I expect USB-A to be relegated to a legacy port (ie minimal inclusion) within 3 years.

Besides Kaby, looks like they are offering the 1050/ti as well now. Should lower prices some but still... why not spend the extra little bit and get a way better gpu like a 1060.

While we won't know for certain until someone does a tear down of the new machines it is looking like all of the things noted here are referencing the 13 R3 redesign over the 13 R1/R2 and not further improvements (something that is supported by the current 13 R3 having nearly identical marketing materials).

I am disappointed that so many articles, including yours, are citing improvements that, as far as any one can tell at the moment, do not actually exist.

Bizarrely in the UK they are offering the 1080 on the Alienware 17 with the 6th Generation I7.

I noticed when trying to build one of the new 7820k models, it gives a message that the processor is not compatible with the "Gsync Capable LCD Selected" (although no other options are provided). I assume that's an error, but can anyone confirm?

I assume the gsync display you have selected is the 120hz TN because there is now also a 60hz IPS.

I'm getting the same error on the AU site with the following comments:

However - any of the display selections still provide the same error.
The only way I've found to remove this error is to remove the 1080 and select the 1070. Any selection with the 1080 pops the compatibility error. Popped into live chat to ask and was told it was due to 1080 stock shortages... er...

I just got a my AW15 R3 replaced. They upgraded my cpu to 7820HK, and the monitor to a 120Hz. I'm receiving it in 3 weeks time. This probably means that the error is probably just on the website.

Cool. I can place the same order for the 1070 but when I try to select the 1080 I can't add to card (in any configuration) - hence the message above. Agree though, looks like a website error to me - although sales rep stated it was a stock availability issue.

EDIT: Looks like the 1080 is no longer an option that I can view/select anymore. Has been removed.

The CPU supports it but I don't think the motherboard does (at least I've not seen anything indicating it would). So my guess would be no.
