So they still have little bumpers on the glass part. That should be enough.
-
-
dont underestimate Dell's place in AW now
-
This should use the standard 17inch screens they have always used , so i would order with the WXGA no edge to edge then just throw my own Wuxga in there, i cant stand the ultra glare that the Edge to edge brings with it . when i had the W90 that thing was literally a mirror compared to just a standard gloss screen which while reflective is not in the same league.
-
your WUXGA connector shouldn't fit
-
Should have been, didn't work for me. Here's a pic before I sold the HP (HDX16) This particular spot is because of the palm rest. It can be described more as tiny knicks or scuffs than scratches. They were easily seen under light.
I babied the laptop, there's no other reason they'd appear. Anyway, I'd highly suggest the microfiber cloth...Attached Files:

One of my kids seems to prefer all the smudges and bits of food too I think.
Sometimes I clean his laptop when he's not looking! -
They have been using the same screens forever and i doubt that aspect has changed since they didnt move to 16:9 .
-
lol i love matte finish !!!!
and the matte screen is nice as well -
-
-
It does look like dust, but they didn't come off like dust does
There's one noticeable vertical scratch on the right side.
-
-
The keyboard is recessed inward and the bumpers are on the body itself to accommodate either the edge to edge or a standard bordered screen , pretty nice really.
-
-
sounds like we need a poll, lol. To go with edge to edge or not....
-
lol not this 17 inch'r
it's just a little smaller -
-
yes in the article

.

No 4870's for the M17

BIOS a member said was coming is due to be on here and allow partial over clocking on the M17x -
sources for the OCing news?
-
just geek.com
it is where i found the silver pic soo ...
awhile back a member came here saying AW was developing OC'ing BIOS's i think they were developing for m17x and m17 but the m17 stated having heating issues so they scraped that and used a OC'ing feature similar to Asus or MSI.
it would be very dumb of AW to now allow Oc'ing, also dell allowed OC'ing in the xps 1730 so with them directly in the developing process they could have made it happen. -
that's a good point. i'll add a pointer about OCing the Extreme chips to my M17x guide.
-
so ripley and skullcap, the iconic designs of alienware, are gone? I wonder why they are doing away with them, wouldnt there be a way to put some sort of skullcap type thing on the anodized aluminum exterior?
-
He basically said although A.W. has provided desktops that are over clocked, they have no plans to allow OC'ing of their laptops. They were able to achieve a full Ghz improvement on the desktop but the gains in a laptop application were much less.
He said although the numbers in a benchmark show a marked improvement, in actual game play the gains were too minimal to justify an OC.
He sounded like he knew what he was talking about. So it doesn't look like we're getting any OC tool from A.W. -
the M17x's lid is definitely Ripley.
-
.... this is not Alienware
THIS IS DELLWARE
lol
none of the skullcaps out right now would fit the m17x
P.S that is a ripley lid
we shall see Rob remember this is dellware now -
